2015-12-10 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356415

Hi Guys,

if we start using it in fc23 running in virtualbox 5.0.10 with the virtualbox
tools installed, it is more or less always happening .
Same install of fc23 in vmware and it is more or less fine (had only once a
situation where more than one click for reaction was needed)
In both cases (vbox and vmware) the previews in icon-only-taskmanager are not
usable because they disappear before we have a chance clicking on them (e.g.
running two konsole windows and trying to select on of them by acitvating the
'preview')

[kwin] [Bug 341930] Session management in porting preproc branch

2015-12-10 Thread Leslie Zhai via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341930

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your reply ;-)

1. Qt5 v5.5.1 has integrated the patch for QTBUG-46310 to fix xcb: set
SM_CLIENT_ID property issue, and I have applied the patch for QTBUG-45484 to
fix Fix QWidget::setWindowRole issue.

2. As Andreas suggested, I patched the kxmlgui to Remove
QCoreApplication::setQuitLockEnabled(true) from KMainWindowPrivate::init()

But ksmserver still failed to restore the applications (based on Qt5) session
nor even chromium! and Gtk based applications, such as pidgin, thunderbird, are
ok.

> there're considerations to work around *parts* of that in ksmserver
After discussed with Andreas, he pointed out my fault - I wrongly argued that
it might be libSM's issue.
so I parsed the files under $HOME/.config/session/, filter the window manager -
kwin, then call startApplication() after parsing [Session: saved at previous
logout] configuration to restart application.

in plasma-workspace/ksmserver/startup.cpp, line 393, based on plasma-workspace
v5.4.3 tag

As you said it is just a workaround or monkey patch, for example, kwrite could
not open previous documents when restore the session.
But thanks for your help again ;-)

Regards,
Leslie Zhai

David, I don't want to be annoying but honnestly loading all the files and
compile the JS at the first opening to save memory is not a good idea. You said
that 5.4 will bring a huge boost but that is not the case. When I click on the
clock to display the calendar on my Core i3 w/ SSD almost 2 seconds pass before
the calendar is displayed. Every first click on the plasmoids is frustrating.
That's insane.

Please make plasma load everything on boot or at least give us the option to
choose.

Thank you a lot for your work.

Just a bit more info in case it helps. The tool tip will show to indicate you
have reached the icon okay even though the click doesn't work. The panel also
takes longer to appear on the screen after log in (i have it along the bottom
of the screen)

Same issue here. It's not the login manager since I've tried starting it with
the command line. It has the nice breeze-themed cursor if that helps.

[frameworks-knotifications] [Bug 356461] New: Notification Settings wrong default display for notifications and notifaction position.

2015-12-10 Thread Artur O . via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356461

Bug ID: 356461
Summary: Notification Settings wrong default display for
notifications and notifaction position.
   Product: frameworks-knotifications
   Version: 5.5.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mklape...@kde.org
  Reporter: commander.alch...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org

I have 3 monitors Left{res: 1080x1920, rotation: portrait} Middle{res:
1920x1080, rotation: landscape, primary} Right{res: 1920x1080, rotation:
landscape}

However since the 5.5.0 update the notifications are a mess. Default position
try to center it on the whole virtual display it seems because they end up in
the bottom part of my middle display.

Going to Notification Settings:
1: The display is shown as portrait when my primary is landscape. (IE its
getting 0x0 display that is _not_ primary. (Screenshot 1)

2: Setting the notification in the corners (topright, topleft, bottomleft,
bottomright) seems to position the notification on the _primary display_ (this
case landscape) in appropriate corners even though the issue described in 1
above.

3: Setting the notification in the middle (middletop, middlebottom) seems to
position notifications _on my left monitor_ where top/bottom is relative to
top/bottom on my primary display. (Screenshot 2/3)

4: Setting no custom position seems to position the notifications on the
monitor to the left of the current monitor my mouse is located if there is a
monitor.
Other words:
mouse on monitor Left positions the notification on monitor Left.
mouse on monitor Middle positions the notification on monitor Left.
mouse on monitor Right positions the notification on monitor middle.

Reproducible: Always

Um about the position of the notification and relative to mouse. It now seems

As I noted in bug #356424, I don't know how to open an MTP device from the file
dialog of kwrite or kate.

The problem occurs in Dolphin irrespective of how many tabs are open (I assume
that's what you mean by panels). For instance, if you browse the device in one
tab, close that tab, but leave Dolphin running with a tab that has not browsed
to the MTP device, Dolphin still retains exclusive control of the MTP device.

[korganizer] [Bug 356463] New: Importing a calendar item pops up confusing/unclear UI

2015-12-10 Thread Magnus Hoff via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356463

Bug ID: 356463
Summary: Importing a calendar item pops up confusing/unclear UI
   Product: korganizer
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: import/export
  Assignee: korganizer-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: magh...@gmail.com

Clicking a calendar item in my web browser, I opted to open it in KOrganizer.
KOrganizer popped up a dialog box with the following text:

> Would you like to merge this calendar item into an existing calendar or use
> it to create a brand new calendar?
>
> If you select merge, then you will be given the opportunity to select the
> destination calendar.
>
> If you select add, then a new calendar will be created for you automatically.

The buttons for this dialog are "Yes", "No" and "Cancel", but none of the
options presented in the text map to any of these buttons. ("Cancel" is pretty
clear, though, but not presented in the text)

The texts on the buttons should be more along the lines of "Merge", "Add new"
and "Cancel".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a calendar file with KOrganizer

Actual Results:
Confusing import dialog

Expected Results:
Clear import dialog

I am also unable to determine the version of KOrganizer. Help -> About
KOrganizer / Version gives me "Version" and then nothing, plus "Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.15.0
Qt 5.4.2 (built against 5.4.2)
The xcb windowing system" after.

This in system packages in Kubuntu 15.10.

That is a different bug, but I am noting it here since I was asked which
version of KOrganizer I am experiencing this bug in.

you can point me, please, to the code which controls the size of the popup and

[okular] [Bug 356466] New: okular print graphing paper smaller than it should be

2015-12-10 Thread rusconi via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356466

Bug ID: 356466
Summary: okular print graphing paper smaller than it should be
   Product: okular
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: printing
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: listes.rusc...@laposte.net

I prepare my graphing paper (5x5 mm squares) with Inkscape. When I print the
graph paper directly from Inkscape the 5x5 square size is correct over a 20 cm
length. If I first export that Inkscape document to a pdf file and then use
Okular to print it, the squares are smaller (I can fit one square more in a 30
cm length). I know this is Okular's fact because if I print that same pdf file
with lpr , the result is perfect, like when I print directly from Inkscape.

I could provide the Inkscape file, if necessary.

  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org

The problem

The right side of left panel (where all KOrganizer's apps are listed ) is too
wide when started maximized. Please see linked picture.

The Workaround

Restore the application window and then maximize it again - right side of the
panel becomes the right width.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Maximize main KOrganizer's window, close the app.
2. Start KOrganizer so it opens maximized.

Actual Results:
You should see left panel's right side too wide.

Expected Results:
Normal thickness of the right side of the left panel.

Kubuntu 15.10 with backports PPA enabled.
HP EliteBook 8460p with Intel graphics.

Backtrace

Today I got the Arch Update for Plasma 5.5 and everytime I use Kickoff > Quit >
Shutdown I get a segfault. This behaviour is quite similar to the segfaults of
Plasma 5.3 back in the day.
It happens on my desktop (AMD HD7970, mesa) as well as on my notebook (Intel
HD4400).
I managed to salvage a hopefully useful backtrace.
Because I'm on Arch I had to rebuild plasma-workspace with debug enabled. If
you need more packages with debugging enabled please let me know!
By the way, is there an easy solution to cancel a shutdown? I was lucky I could
save this backtrace but most of the time my machine is gone before I can save
the output of Dr. Konqi.
Cheers and thanks in advance!

2015-12-10 Thread via KDE Bugzilla

It might be a "packaging" bug because I noticed the plasma ebuilds dropped the
qt5-wayland dependency.
I don't know if it's really necessary but the ebuilds no longer depend on it
and someone on the arch forums stated it is mandatory:

to mean "+" or "=", but what it actually means is the user has to press "+" and
then "=" to advance to the next unread article.

Workaround is to define a custom shortcut.

Yeah, this one is caused by a rounding error:

0+1=1
1/2=0.5
int(0.5)=1.

So all mixes where the result befor dividing is uneven end up with an offset.

This doesn't happen with floating point. No clue what should be done about
it...

Actually, no, now I think about it, the problem happens in the transparency
code: Somehow we're not ending up with 100% transparency.

You can test this by comparing the difference between 'pick from merged image'
and 'pick from layer'. On 'pick from layer' we get full black. On 'pick from
merged image' integer spaces give an offset. So the error happens in the
transparancy-mixing code, and that it is unable to get to 100%.

Crash in KSycocaEntry, this means your environment is probably misconfigured.
Do you compile KDevelop yourself? If so, where do you install it to? Do you
setup KDEDIRS properly, and run kbuildsycoca4?

Furthermore, can you get more debug symbols for katepart, including file/line
numbers?
