Release of Cyrus SASL 2.0.4-BETA

2001-08-29 Thread Rob Siemborski

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I'd like to announce the availability of Cyrus SASL 2.0.4-BETA on
ftp.andrew.cmu.edu. This version is mostly focused around bug fixes in
the v2 library, but includes a port to Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Darwin, as
well as improved documentation including a plugin-writers guide.

This is a beta release that is only intended for developers working on
porting their applications to the Cyrus SASLv2 API. It is *not* intended
for end-users, and will not work with any applications expecting the
SASLv1 API.

Please send bug reports either to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Download at:

ftp://ftp.andrew.cmu.edu/pub/cyrus-mail/cyrus-sasl-2.0.4-BETA.tar.gz

Thanks,
Rob Siemborski

need some basic handholding help getting cyrus working with LDAP

2001-08-29 Thread mike begley

I'm setting up a cyrus server to authenticate against an LDAP server
(OpenLDAP). I have the software built and installed, but I'm having some
basic conceptual problems getting the LDAP server set up with user accounts.

Anyway, if anyone would like to help me walk through this process and help
me understand it, then please respond to me privately (so to not clog the
list with basic config information). I would have no problem compensating
someone for this help.

thanks.

It would be very helpful if you could record the steps that you take
(including wrong turns and how you got out of them) so that we can include
it in the FAQ and others can learn this too. Just post it to this list and
to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The error says it all. Renaming a user's INBOX is not currently
supported. Hopefully it will be supported in a future release.

If you really need this, I have an old patch which I'll have to update
to the current release that implements this, provided that you prohibit
both the old and new user from logging in during the rename.
