I do not see the benefit either, it seems like that kind of thing the PR
department would come up with, which noone does actually like doing and
everyone is glad when it's over and can go back to work.

Once upon a time there where instructions somewhere to send a mail to
overl...@gentoo.org. My first overlay was added this way. For my other
one i send a similar mail like a year ago and am waiting ever since for
some kind of response.
It would be great if there was some kind of info if the procedure
changes. A auto response from this address would be nice. Simply ignore
mail to that address is kind of the worst possible solution.
