Nominations aren't open yet. They will be soon (rather days than
weeks). But not yet. I have no idea why you guys rushed it but you
will have nominate again after we open if for real.

[gentoo-dev] Nominations open for the Gentoo Council 2008/2009

2008-06-04 Thread Łukasz Damentko
Hi guys,

Nominations for the Gentoo Council 2008/2009 are open now and will be
open for the next two weeks (until 23:59 UTC, 18/06/2008).

All nominations must be sent to the gentoo-dev mailing list. If you
were nominated and want to run, you have to accept your nomination on
the same mailing list.

Here are the rules:

* Council elections generally happen once a year
* The council is composed of seven elected members
* Nominations are allowed from June 5th UTC to June 18th 2359 UTC
* Only Gentoo developers may be nominated
* Anyone can nominate (nominating yourself is OK)
* Nominees must accept their nomination before voting begins
* Voting is opened from June 21st UTC to July 4th 2359 UTC
(there are two days of break between nominations and voting so
infra have time to set up everything)
* Only Gentoo developers may vote
* Gentoo uses the Condorcet method of voting

The page listing all nominations is here:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/council/voting-logs/council-2008-nominees.xml

If you don't know what the Gentoo Council is, you can read about it here:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/council/

If you want to ask a question or share your thoughts, contact any of
the election officials:

Łukasz Damentko (rane)
Alec Warner (antarus)
Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (jmbsvicetto)
Shyam Mani (fox2mike) will be doing infra magic.

You can send us an e-mail or find us on Freenode (#gentoo-elections,
#gentoo-dev, so on).

You are right. We've decided to accept those nominations that were
filed prior to us officially opening the process. To fullfill
formality, I will just renominate everybody who was nominated too
early:

So, I (re-)nominate:

welp
zlin
Ingmar
ColdWind

and ... myself, since I was nominated too. And I officially decline to
run in this election.

Łukasz Damentko

[gentoo-dev] Gentoo Council 2008/2009 Nominations end TODAY 23:59 UTC

2008-06-17 Thread Łukasz Damentko
Hi guys,

This is your final reminder.

The nominations process for Gentoo Council 2008/2009 ends today 23:59
UTC and it ends for good.

If there's still somebody you would like to nominate or if you haven't
accepted (or declined) your nomination yet, please do so on the
gentoo-dev mailing list TODAY.

Also please check if your nomination wasn't omitted by the officials.

Each of the officials has read all the -dev mail from last month more
than twice but the level of noise on the nominations thread was so big
that mistakes might have happened.
So please check the nominations page [1] and let us (election
officials) know about any missing entries if you think there are any.

Also, if you were nominated, please hurry to accept your nomination
before it's too late. If you don't do it in time, your name won't
appear on the ballot.

Last but not least, you can post your agenda .txt file in the council
space on gentoo.org if you want to. To do it, please contact any of
the officials.

Here's the list of people who were nominated but haven't yet accepted
(nor declined) their nominations:

  Ingmar Vanhasselingmar
  Mike Doty kingtaco
  Robin H. Johnsonrobbat2
  Ned Luddsolar
  Joshua Jackson tsunam
  Mike Frysinger vapier
  Chris Gianelloniwolf31o2
  Zac Medico zmedico

And once more:

Elections officials:

Łukasz Damentko ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Alec Warner ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Shyam Mani ([EMAIL PROTECTED], infra guy)

Elections page:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/council/voting-logs/council-2008-nominees.xml

We're on #gentoo-elections, #gentoo-dev (and #euro2008...) if you want
to ask a question or suggest something.

Kind regards,

[gentoo-dev] Gentoo Council 2008/2009 Elections - You may vote now.

2008-06-20 Thread Łukasz Damentko
Hi guys,

The voting part of the election has just started and will last for
next two weeks (until July 4th, 23:59 UTC).

In case you forgot, here are the rules:

All active Gentoo developers are eligible to vote. To do that, you
should login to dev.gentoo.org and run the following commands:

1. votify --new council2008 - This creates a new ballot in your homedir.
2. Edit the .ballot-council2008 file and rank the candidates.
3. Once you're sure, run votify --verify council2008 to check the
validity of the ballot.
4. If that goes through fine, the next and final step is to submit
your vote using votify --submit council2008
5. If you're stuck, use votify --help or go to #gentoo-elections
(on freenode) and ask officials for help

Good luck and thank you for all your votes.

Kind regards,

Łukasz Damentko

This mail has the mastor ballot file attached to it. You were also
mailed with your ID. You can use the file and the ID to verify that
your vote was included in the master ballot file. If you didn't get
your ID or you can't find your vote inside the ballot file, please
contact election officials (rane, antarus, jmbsvicetto, fox2mike (@g.o
or #gentoo-elections on freenode)).

The turnout was (I think record) 57%. We received 143 valid votes and
two invalid (two people who forgot to issue votify --submit).
