[gentoo-dev] Introducing Daniel Robbins (drobbins)
It's my please to introduce to you Daniel "drobbins" Robbins. Daniel is going to work with the amd64 arch team but will probably venture to other areas too. Daniel doesn't have much experience with Gentoo so let's give him a helping hand in the start. In his dark past Daniel has worked for companies like Microsoft so maybe Gentoo/NT will be a reality after all? Please give him the usual warm welcome. Okay, so upstream has requested to remove the current version(0.5). And the latest version, 0.7, needs a rewrite of the ebuild. I tried to do it, but this version requires more interaction from the user. It's not viable to install it using portage. So, unless anybody posts an usable ebuild, this will get removed in 30 days. # Raúl Porcel (27 Feb 2007) # Masked for removal in 30 days. # Upstream has requested to remove the 0.5 version # Bug 72996 net-p2p/freenet -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list

[gentoo-dev] Packages requiring explicit db versions?
I'm hoping to advocate some more cleanups in sys-libs/db by proposing the removal of 4.0.* and 4.1.* from portage. 4.2 has been stable for a long time, with 4.3 unstable and 4.4 and 4.5 available in package.mask. If anyone has a package that won't work with >=sys-libs/db-4.2* please reply. Note that this doesn't affect the 1.85 and 3.2.9 series'. Thanks, Caleb -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list
