hi rick,

I did review the config.log output ... grepped for "error" ... but in all
honesty, I'm not quite sure what I'm searching for, or what would need to be
changed.

I've successfully built gcc346/gcc404/gcc412/gcc423 on my 3 sunblade boxes
... this is just my 1st attempt at gcc43 ...

Have you looked at sparc-sun-solaris2.10/libgcc/config.log for those
details?

That's the toplevel config.log. Please look at the one in the
sparc-sun-solaris2.10/libgcc directory.

[Bug bootstrap/34097] New: gcc build on solaris 2.10 fails

2007-11-14 Thread tom_francen at midtechcorp dot com
i'm on solaris 2.10, attempting to build gcc versions 4.2.2 (also failed
w/4.2.1).  i've SUCCESSFULLY built 4.1.2, 3.4.6, and other versions.

i complete through 5 hours of the build process (creating nearly 7mb of
nohup.out output) before erroring with what follows belows.

my configure statement is as follows:

CONFIG_SHELL=/usr/bin/ksh
export CONFIG_SHELL

gcc-4.2.1/configure --prefix=/apps/gcc42  --with-config-shell=/usr/bin/ksh
--with-gnu-ld --with-gnu-as

i run the latest versions of the OS, binutils, make, and pretty much any
utility posted on sunfreeware.com.

here's the tail end of the 7mb nohup.out make command ...

[Bug fortran/34207] New: configure: error: GNU Fortran is not working

2007-11-23 Thread tom_francen at midtechcorp dot com
in building GCC 4.3.3-20071116 on my solaris sparc 10 (latest patches) boxes, i
receive the follow message:

configure: error: GNU Fortran is not working; please report a bug in
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla attaching
/apps/tmp/gcc43/sparc-sun-solaris2.10/libgfortran/config.log

here's my configure statement

CONFIG_SHELL=/usr/bin/ksh
export CONFIG_SHELL

PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH:/apps/mpfr2
export PATH

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/apps/mpfr2/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH

gcc-4.3-20071116/configure --prefix=/apps/gcc43
--with-config-shell=/usr/bin/ksh --with-gnu-ld --with-gnu-as
--with-gmp=/usr/local/lib  --with-mpfr=/apps/mpfr2

and here's the config.log output per the request above ...
