Notice that mplayer is doing its own trick to play video, and not
directly using Xv for it, i may be wrong though, but at least that is
how it works for the permedia3. So your problem may be related with the
mplayer code, maybe.

Do you know where bug reports can be reported? I have some problems specific
to ATI binary drivers. Feedback form on ATI website?

[Dri-devel] i845 dma problems (from user list)

2003-01-23 Thread Arkadi Shishlov
Hi.
Recently I posted my problem with i845G/GL chipset to dri-users@.
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=1551204&forum_id=6511
Should I file bug report for this issue to be notified by developers
or there just no time/man-power/chipset docs/input from vendor to fix
this problem?
If you have any patches or tips how to solve this, please let me know,
I will be more than happy to test it.

I don't know if you're using CVS, but there is an updated version of this
driver on the mesa-4-0-4 branch - can you try that first?

It should get merged to the trunk shortly in any case.

have you tried parsing the extension strings?

have you tried getting the function entry points
with the gel/glx-get-by-name functions?

That far that i am aware of, the Linux driver
exports nearly the same set of extensions as
the windwos driver does. its just that there
is not wgl* set, but glx does have much of
an equivalent for those sort of extensions.

yes, the feedback form is the #1 official place
for the ATI Radeon users.

Thanks. Compiled. All OpenGL applications work OK. Unfortunatelly new DRI
broke XVideo. Blue window is displayed instead of picture. I've also tried
moving all DRI stuff to my old XFree86 install from dri-trunk. OpenGL work
but XVideo doesn't.
Can you point me which of the DRI components can be used from mesa-4-0-4
and which can be left from dri-trunk, possibly fixing both OpenGL and XVideo?
At present I'm running X server from dri-trunk, with following modules from
mesa-4-0-4:
- i810_drv.o - X driver
- libdri.a - extension
- libdrm.a - extension
- i830_dri.so - client lib
- i830.o - kernel mod

Will it be in 4.3.0?

Any chances to get hw accelerated ARB_cube_map in i830?

ARB_texture_cube_map on r100 ( was RE: [Dri-devel] Mesa glTexEnvbug (Was: S3TC and ut2k))

Cube mapping works in the R200 driver with one caveat: glTexCoord3*()
commands don't work. Normally, a texgen mode like GL_REFLECT is used
with cube maps so the texcoords are generated in hardware. The h/w
vertex setup code needs to be updated to handle 3-component texture
coords.

Not sure if this is the problem you're seeing though. The
Mesa/demos/cubemap program shows the problem.

How exactly does this problem look? This might be exactly the problem
that I'm geting on r100. Could you put a screenshot up somewhere?

If you modify the cubemap.c program to pass 0 as the R coordinate to all
the glTexCoord3f() calls in draw_skybox() you'd probably get the idea.

Ha! I wish what I have looked that good! I've attached a screen
capture in GL_NORMAL_MAP mode and one in GL_REFLECTION_MAP mode.
Neither one is right. :( I think I'm going to have to put this on the
way-back burner for now.

Actually, I first thought there's a lot of hardware code contained in libGL,
so to access the EXT functions, I need a sufficiently new version of it. But
if all those functions can be accessed directly through the driver,
everything's going to work even with a 1.2-libGL.
Now I just have to figure out how to create a shader and check if the
extensions are really there :)
Thanks for the hints!

PS: You don't need to send messages directly to me, I'm subscribed to the list

I recommend using some library which has up-to-date header file and code to
automatically set up all supported extensions..

http://glew.sf.net is one of these. It supports most of ARB-, EXT-, ATI- and
NVIDIA-extensions under both Linux and Windows.

Example code:

#include "glew.h"

glewInit();

if (glew.ARB_fragment_program)
{
// use pixel shaders here
}

if (glew.ARB_texture_env_combine)
{
// use texture env combiners here
}

and so on..
