A better UI for admin's raw_id lookup.

2011-11-04 Thread stan
Hi,

I have submitted a new patch for the ticket #7028
https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/7028
a few weeks ago to address the problem of giving a better feedback
next to the admin's raw_id fields by displaying the __unicode__()
«string».

As Julien told me in a comment, we may go further by providing
something like a ListBuilder à la Apple Mail :

http://wiki.jqueryui.com/w/page/12137993/ListBuilder

I have started a patch in this direction but it is annoying to write
`yet another jquery.autocomplete plugin' with all the edge case in the
keypress/keyup events.

I would like to have your thoughts before I go further :

1. Does the idea have a chance to live (as a patch) ?
2. If yes, should we backport to django an existing autocomplete
plugin ?

Cheers,

Stanislas.

Re: Django sprint in North Carolina, Nov. 12-13, 2011

2011-11-04 Thread Tobias McNulty
Hi all,

Just wanted to send out a quick reminder that we're hosting a Django sprint
here in Chapel Hill / Carrboro, NC next weekend (November 12th and 13th).
All the details and related links are below.

If you're not local to Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, you might consider
organizing a parallel sprint in your area. The DSF and/or PSF can help
reimburse for sprint expenses.

Thanks and I hope to see you here or in the #django-sprint channel on
Freenode!

Cheers,
Tobias
