Community track for Community Over Code?

2025-02-11 Thread Rich Bowen
Hi, folks,

As you may have seen, Community Over Code North America 2025 has been announced
-
https://news.apache.org/foundation/entry/community-over-code-na-2025-announced-for-minneapolis
 - and there is a call for tracks.

Is one of you going to step up to chair a Community track? I am willing, if
nobody else does, but I really don’t have the time, and would appreciate either
someone else taking the lead here, or perhaps going in together to work on
this. But this is a very important track and I don’t want it to be overlooked
this year because some of the folks who have led it in the past have stepped
back a bit.

Anyone?

I would like to become more knowledgeable in how this process works. I don't
know if I'm ready to be the primary chair, but I could help with some of the
leg work.

Thanks,

Re: Community track for Community Over Code?

2025-02-11 Thread Rich Bowen
Cool. I’m requesting the track, and have listed you, as well as Sanyam (who
contacted me off-list) as the chairs.

If you are not already, please subscribe to plann...@apachecon.com
 (send email to planners-subscr...@apachecon.com
) so that you can follow the
discussion.

Let’s chat over the next few days about what’s involved. Sanyam, are you on ASF
Slack? We can start a chat there, or wherever else works for you. (I already
know how to get hold of Chris.)

Thanks

It can indeed be confusing, since each project has slightly different cultural
norms and processes.

I would encourage you to start here —
https://community.apache.org/contributors/ — for an overview of what
contributing to an Apache project looks like, in most cases.

Hello there,

1. Thank you for helping. I have decided the project i want to work on. Is
it possible that I can be added in slack as I don't have the apache.org email
address

2. I had a doubt, do we have to sign an official agreement or something
before contributing into any ASF project or we can directly start over
through GitHub?

You need to subscribe & reach out the dev list of that project and some
maintainer would be able to send you an invite to join their project
channel, if they have one.

Filing ICLA isn't mandatory for contributors. You can just jump on the
issues

Good Luck!!
