[REMINDER]: Submissions Open for Community Track at Community Over Code (Formerly ApacheCon)
Hi All! The CFP for Community Over Code (Formerly ApacheCon) is open and wanted to remind you that we have a Community track and we are looking for your submissions. https://communityovercode.org/call-for-presentations/ The event will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada from 7^th - 10^th October 2023. So what is the Community track? It's an opportunity for anyone from our communities to talk about and share what they have done, learned or experienced as part of being involved with Apache. So what sort of topics are we looking for? (Here are some examples to get you thinking :-) * Your Apache story...How and why did you get involved with the ASF? * What does it mean to you to be a Contributor, Committer, Member or Officer in the Foundation? * What does the Apache way mean to you? What are your real life stories about understanding and adopting it? * Did you or your project have any particular challenges to overcome? What happened? What worked? And what didn't! * How diverse and inclusive are our communities? What have you seen or experienced? * All those with knowledge of Apache branding, licencing, governance - please feel free to submit something that will share your knowledge with others. * Do you have any data or opinions about where we are now and what our future communities could evolve into? The Community Track is all about our communities sharing their thoughts and experiences with others, so that we can learn from it. We would like to mention this upfront as we always seem to get a rush of submissions in the last week or even the last 24 hours of the CFP - so although the CFP closes on July 13th, 2023 - please don't leave it to the last moment to submit something :-) Please see below for a link to the CFP ( https://communityovercode.org/call-for-presentations/) We are looking forward to your submissions :-) Thanks & Regards, Sharan and Swapnil
Public funding for contributions available
Hi, tl;dr: Want to contribute to Open Source (including projects here at the ASF) and have that time publicly funded? Head over to: https://sovereigntechfund.de/en/challenges/ >From the title page: "The Sovereign Tech Fund is looking for developers who use open source and want to contribute back to it. [...] In three challenges, participants can work on contributing back to open source for up to eight months with a budget of up to €300,000 per round. Many more people use open source software every day than contribute to it. It’s time to give back and invest in this ecosystem, to increase its security and sustainability, and to create a digital world that we collectively shape. The Sovereign Tech Fund invests in open digital infrastructure. For us, this means fundamental technologies that enable the creation of other software. These components – like libraries and open standards – are openly accessible, trustworthy and can be used freely." >From the description of the projects they want to fund I see a lot of overlap with our projects here at the ASF. Feel free to share this information publicly and widely! Warm regards, Isabel
