Bug#194503: ITP: imapproxy -- an IMAP proxy to reduce load by webmails

2003-05-23 Thread jltallon
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

imapproxy is an IMAP proxy created in order to reduce load to IMAP
servers by Webmail programs. Originally part of the Horde project
[www.horde.org], for their IMP webmail.

Once a connection arrives, imapproxy forwards it to the real IMAP
server and notes it. It will keep the connection alive for an specified
amount of time even if the client closes it, thus heavily reducing the
amount of reconnections to the server. It is designed to be run in the same
host the webmail program runs at.

Imapproxy can be downloaded from http://www.imapproxy.org
( new, official website )

Well, I'm active on other fronts, so absolutely not MIA.
However, I haven't progressed with the ITP yet, so it's logical to
"demote" this bug to RFP.

Luca, would you mind sponsoring/reviewing a new version during this week?

As there was no activity from others, this tasks fell a bit in my todo
list.
Moreover, I didn't want to overload Anibal if at all possible.

Probably overkill / overcomplicated

Ok, let's use Alioth
(though I'd prefer some repo hosted somewhere or whatever)

Thanks many, Anibal. As usual.

Chuck: when do you want to start? Just e-mail me directly and we'll
coordinate it.
