Does anyone have this working at all? I've tried various xorg.conf files with

I am running virtualbox-ose 2.1.4 from lenny-backports on the host.

Thanks,

I also have same problem.
I have Debian Sid LXDE, Debian Sid XFCE and Debian Sid KDE as a guest.
They were first Lenny and screen size was to big so I was edit xorg.conf
and it was fine. After upgrade to Sid all of them have to small screen
with black frame around (800x600 on 15" laptop, native resolution is

Ctrl+Alt+F1 works on my up-to-date Squeeze KDE. I just tried.
You can always chose "Your Kernel version Singleuser" in grub.
Or you can switch to console (session manager or something like that at

Re: 3d hardware acceleration no longer works after upgrade to squeeze.

Chris Dams wrote:

Dear all,

After I upgraded from lenny to squeeze this week, it seems that 3d
hardware acceleration no longer works for me. This is because games
like tuxracer and armagetronad no longer work properly. They are very
slow and bitmaps are missing when running armagetronad. The program
glxinfo reports "direct rendering: Yes", though. The program lspci
reports that I have a radeon 9200 SE video card. dmesg was reporting
that it could not load the radeon firmware, so I installed the
firmware-linux package and now it no longer gives the error. But this
does not help for the problem that the 3d acceleration is not working.
Anyone any idea what I can try next?

All the best,
Chris

Hi,
I also have radeon 9200 SE and Squezze (without firmware-linux, just
X.Org X server

-- ATI display driver, no errors in dmesg).
$ glxinfo
direct rendering: Yes
$ glxgears
529 frames in 5.0 seconds = 105.597 FPS
504 frames in 5.0 seconds = 100.765 FPS
526 frames in 5.0 seconds = 105.063 FPS
494 frames in 5.0 seconds = 98.778 FPS
512 frames in 5.0 seconds = 102.384 FPS
516 frames in 5.0 seconds = 103.167 FPS
518 frames in 5.0 seconds = 103.505 FPS
525 frames in 5.0 seconds = 104.833 FPS
528 frames in 5.0 seconds = 105.439 FPS

I am install extreme tux racer and could start the game. On the screen
are some ugly colored lines (like on TV when there is not any program).

Is it possible that is something wrong with the game?
Armagetronad-works
Balazar 3 3D-works (maybe little slow and crash when I click preferances)
Blob and Conquer-start but don't see anything accept weapons, granades
and black screen

BZFlag 3D-works
Egoboo-same as extreme tux racer
Enemylines3 3D-works

Tray some other 3D games, maybe they work

I just started reading books about c++ and notice one thing; writers who
use Visual C++ on Microsoft give very bad examples even for Hello World.
I think it is because you can give a shit to Microsoft compiler and he
will compile and execute him. Give the same thing to Linux compiler and
you will get error.
Microsoft has always had its own standards and has never respected the
universal standards, so I think that is better to programing under Linux.
With KDevelop under Linux you can also compile .exe and it works under
Windows.
Under Linux you can download lots of manuals, documentations, and tools
for free.
Look for Code::Blocks and KDevelop they are nice tool's with loots of
options.

When I try to give the mount point and filesystem entries by entering

So, I entered as super user through command line and mounted the

I also changed the file permissions by giving command "chmod -R 777

I am able to access it through command line; but through graphical

Have you installed ntfs-3g?

Please let me know how to access my drives through graphical desktop

I have a similar problem until i get my self rights to use HD in
etc/fstab this line: /dev/sda5 /mnt/external ntfs-3g
user,force,locale=en_US.utf8
Try to use "Pico" text editor if you are not familiar vith "Vi" editor.
This part "/dev/sda5 /mnt/external" doesn't to be the same. Point
is to put "ntfs-3g" if it is NTFS and "user"-that mean that every user
can use it.

Backup your /etc/fstab so if something goes wrong you can replace it.
I don't know how to do it GUI but I'm also beginner and I made it.
Open Shell, type SU, write root password and type pico /etc/fstab

Then go to (I'm using KDE):
Systen->KUser-user menager then go to your user name->edit->groups and
check fuse
