bcm4400 source for nic .deb file

2003-11-19 Thread Export
I just installed a bare bones debian woody, however my nic was not detected,
but i've found the .deb file to make it work, i've burned the file to a
cd-rom, but in debian it does not show up, i then tried with a memory key i
got it mounted and working to the point where i could see the other files on
the key, but no .deb file, when i checked the usb key on another computer
(not running debian) the .deb file is gone from the key after for sure being
on before i plugged it in and rebooted the deb box. What on earth is going on
here?

Many thanks.

STAT of Process

2010-04-16 Thread export

I have a daemon running on my Debian ( Lenny) box. When it is  started ,

I check the process state ( by ps -ax command) and I can see in STAT column  S letter and
the daemon works as it should. After some time, the STAT is changed to R but the daemon
still works OK.But after  few hours the STAT is changed to D letter and the daemon does not
work properly. It seems as if it is stopped running eventhough it is among the  list of
processes.

Can anyone explain that please?

Thanks

L.

Re: STAT of Process

2010-04-16 Thread export
Stan,
Thank you for your reply.
It is my own daemon( I wrote it by myself) and do not know why it changes the
STAT.

I found out that STAT field is
D for Uninterruptible sleep (usually IO)
R for Running or runnable (on run queue)
S for Interruptible sleep (waiting for an event to complete)

but what does Uninterruptible sleep means? And what is it caused by?
Can anyone explain that problem?
(When STAT is D for the daemon , the daemon does not seem to run )

Thanks
L.

Re: Lite SMTP server/daemon

2010-04-24 Thread export

Hi Celejar,

Thank you for your reply.

I use Linux running in  Compact Flash so that the size of the Compact flash memory is the
limit

Users will  send emails to a program running in the Compact flash so I need a mail server
there too.

Only SMTP, no POP3 server

Can you suggest something?

Thank you .

Best regards,

Lad.

Daemons

2010-05-04 Thread export
I have several running daemons that write some data to files
What happens with these open files when INIT 6 command is issued?
Are these files that are used by daemons deleted? Or are they closed regularly
and saved ?
And what happens, if the Linux box is shut down in a dirty way( out of
electricity)?
Thanks
L.

Is this possible ?

2010-05-20 Thread export

Let’s suppose this configuration

|Server1| <- |Server2| <- |Client|

A client sends a request that starts a script on Server2.The script ( running on
server2) from this server 2 will download a webpage from Server1.

Is it possible to record Client’s IP on Server1, instead of Server2’s IP? In other
words, Server1 will think the request for downloading is directly from Client.

That is Server2’s IP will be “invisible” for Server1

Is this possbile?

Thanks

Joe.
