Re: Fail to telnet Debian from Windows
Good, then things sounds like theyre working right! You shouldn't be using telneyt. The telnet daemon on your debian box is turned off by default. Install ssh, make sure sshd is running, and ssh into the box instead - use putty as the XP ssh client. Lars. cannot set DISPLAY from remote machine
Recently I installed woody on three machines and I am having the same problem on all of them: When I try to export DISPLAY from a remote machine to any of the three woody machines I get the error: _X11TransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111 (I did not forget to do the xhost + to allow access). What is the problem here? -I didn't have this problem with potato. Did I overlook something in the installation of XFree 4 ? Odd placement of windows(GNOME/woody)
I just installed woody, and I gnome from the tasksel. Everything seems to work OK, except that every time I open an application or any window for that matter, the window is placed in the upper left hand corner of my screen. I can't drag the windows away from there, so all my windows overlap. I am running gdm as the display manager (the default). How do I fix this? Help configure XFree 4.0
Does anyone know how to configure a Diamond Speedstar Plus with an Tseng ET4000 chipset on woody with X 4.0? I have tried all the possible settings in xf86config that I can think of - with no luck. The error from the end of /var/log/XFree86.0.log is included at the end of this message. Here is what I did : 1) apt-get install task-x-window-system (to install X Window System (complete)) 2) run xf86config and choose above card from the list. I used the same horizontal and vertical sync settings and resolution that has worked for me when configuring the display in potato with X 3.6. The same settings that works in potato simply won't work for me in woody. I don't understand this because the XFree86 website states that cards with the ET4000 chipset should work with X 4.0. woody install from Windows partition: HELP
I have a problem getting woody installed from a windows partition using loadlin.
