Help with samba 3

2004-07-23 Thread Aaron B
Hi everyone. I'm trying to set up samba 3 to be a client on a Windows NT
network. I have smbd running and my hostname ( foo ) configured- not much
else.

My box appears in the Network Neighborhood on the Windows machines just fine.
Also, my workstation has been "allowed" on the network.

What baffle me, is that whenever I try to connect to another
workstation/server on the network for any reason I get the following.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] smbclient //fooman/share pword -U user
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_WORKSTATION

Now, I understand that this error is a result of my workstation not being
allowed to access the shares on the network. But, I've already been added to
the workgroup.

I believe the problem is that smbd is being added to the workgroup, but the
connections I try to make with smbclient or smbspool are not going through
smbd at all and are therefore invalid workstations.

My question is, does anyone know how this can be rectified on either end?

I already have that set.

If it changes anything, though, my computer doesn't sync users/passwords with
the network. If this is the problem, I don't know how to solve it, as the
smb.conf seems to only mention syncing with Unix.

I believe that firefox changed the places it kept the bookmarks several
times in the last three or four updates.
Try to find your old bookmarks/profile in these places:
~/.phoenix
~/.firebird
~/.firefox
~/.mozilla/firefox
~/.mozilla-firefox

I hope this helps.

Help Installing / Upgrading Cron

Hi all. I've recently had problems installing / upgrading cron from
apt-get. It seemed to be a problem with not being able to
find /usr/bin/crontab while upgrading - so I removed cron, and then
attempted to install it. Here is the output:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] apt-get install cron

Thanks in advance for any help. I hope I don't lose too much sleep over
this.

Sounds like a problem with your kernel module. Try
`lsmod | grep usb_storage` and if there is no return try
`modprobe usb-storage` and then add `usb-storage` to your /etc/modules
file. That _should_ allow you to mount it. If not it may be a problem
with your dev files- in which case, I am not well suited to answer your
problem and it _may_ be fixed by resarting (after adding usb-storage to
your /etc/modules)

Yes, in fact, Mozilla Mail and Mozilla Firefox use the same mail format,
so you can simply copy your mail folder from one profile to another.
First you need to find where your mozilla profile was stored (probably
something like ~/.mozilla/foo/foo/mail) and then copy that folder into
your thunderbid profile's mail folder (probably something like
~/.thunderbird/foo/foo/mail) If that doesn't work, do a google search-
it's a pretty common operation that's probably covered in detail on
mozilla forums.
