?logup=false&url=http://www.springerlink.com/content/23j63676550n0q45/fulltext.pdf<https://username:passw...@ezproxylogin1.ntu.edu.sg/restricted/login.asp?logup=false&url=http://www.springerlink.com/content/23j63676550n0q45/fulltext.pdf>>

iceweasle short period timeout

2011-03-27 Thread ZHAO Lina
Hi,

The iceweasle sometimes showed me
problem loading page,
the connection timeout,

...
and after 10 mins or so it works again.

is it possible some virus.

it's happened once yesterday and also today.

During this period, I can ssh out to other service, and also ssh to this
computer.
But I failed to use synaptic to download other browse to test.

Thanks for any suggestion.

Re: iceweasle short period timeout

2011-03-28 Thread ZHAO Lina
Follow up:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

  * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a
few

moments.

 * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

connection.

 * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make
sure

that Iceweasel is permitted to access the Web.

It happened again, one second ago it worked so fine, and then any webpage
showed the same.

Where I should check,

Thanks,

lina

acroread and iceweasel

2010-10-05 Thread #ZHAO LINA#
 Hi,

When I tried to use acroread my.pdf
it showed me,

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module":
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

It's not the main point cause it's no problem view the pdf, the main issue was
that,

When I opened pdf in the iceweasel, it showed me nothing even I waited pretty
long. A compromise way to solve it was to restart the iceweasel and it only
worked once, when the second pdf opened, it still was blank, so no choice but
to restart it again. Any advise about this?

Thanks ahead for any suggestions.

I cannot uninstall it, can somesome provide some solutions?

Or anyone who works fine to open the pdf within iceweasel time and time again
would love to share how they handle it. I did not encounter that problem before
when I used firefox.

Thanks,

Looks similar to this Ubuntu bug:

Launched Thunderbird 3.1.3 and get an error each time

You can try the workaround mentioned there (launch iceweasel with "dbus-

Please run

ps -eo user, cmd | grep dbus
ps -eo user, cmd | grep gconf

and tell us the output. My guess is that your are not running
dbus-daemon or gconfd.

RE: Configuration for firefox-bin

2010-10-15 Thread #ZHAO LINA#
After I used the dbus-launch iceweasle,

New problems came out, such as I use gedit, it showed me lots of those errors:

GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a
missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. See
http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Server ping
error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0)

I checked website they provided, but do not have much idea about how to
configure the

/etc/gconf/2/path

are there some specific instructions about how to modify it?

Thanks,

lina

RE: Configuration for firefox-bin

2010-10-15 Thread #ZHAO LINA#
Thanks all,

I finally realized which caused those problems.

Due to the small partition I gave to /tmp, so sometimes I just simply removed
all in /tmp directory.

After removed all in /tmp directory, it poped up those warnings in iceweasle
and also gedit

I recreated those problems and proved it's the reason relevant to remove
something in the /tmp.

Thanks again and best regards,

lina

2010-10-17 Thread #ZHAO LINA#
 Hi,

I am not sure which packages from
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=qt4&searchon=names&suite=all§ion=all

which I needed to install except I had installed the python-qt4 already when
came up this situation:

  Qt qmake not found!
Call Stack (most recent call first):

The system is squeeze amd64.

Thanks for any advice,

lina

avogadro plugins

2010-10-18 Thread #ZHAO LINA#
Hi,

I have just install the avogadro package on my amd64 Squeeze desktop.
Now I would like to play with some avogadro plugins.
I have succeeded to built one (packmol) as regular user, but I do not
know how to make it plugged by avogadro:
any hint is warmly welcome.

Thanks,

lina
