Redmond Splashscreen bug
Hi, I've recovered the following bug in the redmond splashscreen in KDE 3.3.X and KDE 3.4.X: under 800X600 resolution the splashscreen won't fit correctly into the screen, because it has a very long greening string when the locale settings are set to RU. Bug#325542: Kdesktop Icons get rearranged on login
Package: kdesktop Version: 4:3.3.2-1 The Kdesktop and Kicker packages has a very annoing bugs listed here: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47627 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91575 Finally this bugs were fixed for the KDE 3.5. Since Debian don't provide updates in a form of a newer version for the stable distribution I think it would be nice if the patch which fix this bug for KDE 3.5 will be applied against the Debian's stable version of Kdesktop and Kicker package. The patchws can be found here: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47627 I'm using Debian Sarge 3.1 kernel 2.6.8-2-686. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Fwd: [kde-announce] [KDE Security Advisory] kcheckpass local root vulnerability
Subject: [kde-announce] [KDE Security Advisory] kcheckpass local root vulnerability Date: 5 Сентябрь 2005 13:12 From: Dirk Mueller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] KDE Security Advisory: kcheckpass local root vulnerability Original Release Date: 2008-09-05 URL: http://www.kde.org/info/security/advisory-20050905-1.txt 0. References CAN-2005-2494 1. Systems affected: All KDE releases starting from KDE 3.2.0 up to including KDE 3.4.2. 2. Overview: Ilja van Sprundel from suresec.org notified the KDE security team about a serious lock file handling error in kcheckpass that can, in some configurations, be used to gain root access. In order for an exploit to succeed, the directory /var/lock has to be writeable for a user that is allowed to invoke kcheckpass. 3. Impact: A local user can escalate its privileges to the root user. 4. Solution: Source code patches have been made available which fix these vulnerabilities. Contact your OS vendor / binary package provider for information about how to obtain updated binary packages. 5. Patch: Patch for KDE 3.4.2 is available from ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/security_patches : 86f7d6fd68568dfd1edcae453958ba31 post-3.4.2-kdebase-kcheckpass.diff --- ___ kde-announce mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-announce
