Bug#615159: nepomulkservices consume too many memory

2011-02-25 Thread philippe
Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.4.5-1
Severity: grave
Tags: squeeze

I have reboot the pc, launch kde, eclipse.
I leave le pc idle 10 hours.
When I reuse it, the system was usuable, I launch the system-monitor,
I see that one of the 2 nepomukservices is consuming more than 950 Mo of the
2Go memory.
So with swapping it was usable.

I have stop the service indexing.
I did not see any other option to control these services: limit the memory may
be a good option.
May be there a memory leak ?

Bug#747637: akonadi-server: upgrade to akonadi-12-1-1 does not work so kmail too

2014-08-03 Thread MERLIN Philippe
Hello,
Last days i was blocked by akonadi-12-1-1 and kmail out of service. I tried
to modify the schematic layout of the base Akonadi Mysql to correct the
error that akonadi-server meeting as indicates it the message of Markus
Meier, not being a specialist Mysql, I looked on Google and found which
to have "FOREIGN KEY" in Mysql it was necessary that the concerned
table have an engine InnoDB, I converted a table Myisam in InnoDB, but
the same error occurs farther on another table, then I converted all the
tables Myisam in InnoDB, unfortunately an error occurs farther and i did
not find solution.I then decided as advised me somebody to protect the
base(basis) akonadi and to delete it, with the re-creation of the akonadi
base I was able to found the use of Kmail. All the modifications
introduced by akonadi-server 12-1-1 are optimizations at the level of the
plan of the base(basis), I think that a specialist Mysql should deal with
the modifications to be brought to allow a transition of 11-> 12 which is
made without error.
Best Regards.

My Sid system is up to date and the problem is on the agenda unfortunately
always. With a novelty, further to the last update of Systemd I am
blocked(surrounded) during 5 minutes with a message concerning the
stop(ruling) of Samba I created Bug*762087 concerning this problem.
I think that the problem which arrived with Systemd is caused by a
mismanagement of Kde and Systemd.

Hello,
Thank you very much, for the hypotheses which you formulate to try to explain
the problem. I drew the calls made by Systemd at the time of the demand of
stop of the computer.
I also drew a demand of stop in a Konsole by means of the command
 systemctl poweroff
which it stops(arrests) effectively the computer. By studying and by comparing
these tracks I noticed that in the case of a demand of stop(ruling) by Kde we
see clearly a starting Halt and in the other case a Starting Poweroff , now I
read that in the system only Debian Sid Poweroff stops machines Halt does not
make it any more, I think but i am not sure that it is an error of Kde.
Best regards
Philippe Merlin

Bug#761647: kde-full: an poweroff never succeed with kde

2014-10-20 Thread MERLIN Philippe
Hello,
I had no answer to my last observations concerning the procedure of stop of
the computer by Kde. Kde seems to make a "Halt" instead of a "Poweroff"
, to be sure there I have throw in a console the command
 " systemctl halt "
the tracks which I make at the level of systemd confirm this hypothesis they
ended exactly same by
 " reboot system halted "
and the computer is not electrically stopped.
Please could cure this established fact because it is very annoying, in
advance thank you, except for this small problem, I find that the last versions
of Kde are really excellent.
Best regards.

Bug#793026: kde-window-manager: upgrade to 4:5.3.2-2 generates

2015-07-25 Thread MERLIN Philippe
The problem for me is on a Debian Sid AMD64 where kwin-x11 4:5.3.2-2 was
installed with kde-window-manager 4:5.3.2-2 at the same time.
All windows are generate without the top left button "-" "#" "x"
and can't be selected with the cursor, some windows open on the full screen
and hide all.

i test removing kwin_wayland with no success, all the windows generate are not

for sample the windows of kwallet open at the start of kontact it's impossible

Bug#794768: kde-window-manager: the scren freeze after a while and everything freeze

2015-08-31 Thread MERLIN Philippe
The problem always exists, these last two days I had had no blocking,
previously I had to
reboot the system one twice a day what is not very pleasant, today I was still
a victim of this
blocking.
The blocking does not still show itself in the same way, the common point is
however the
impossibility to launch a program since the bar of command. Certain times it is
possible to
exploit the open windows and even to launch the yakuake konsoles, of other time
we can make
nothing except open a new session by Ctl+Alt+F2.
On a Yakuake console qdbus org.kde.plasmashell show that it does not work, on
the screen
sometimes its seems that an little white window is open, one time an little
window name
plasma is open and blocked.
The blocking can arrive the session being opened and without activity.
The only method to reboot the computer is to launch a poweroff yakuake is in a
new session or
in a console.
Today after a poweroff I had this message:
policykit daemon disconnected from the bus. we are no longer a registered
authentication agent
Sometimes when all is blocked after an poweroff the system never stop, the only
method is to
stop the computer electrically.

Bug#455531: KDE3 in extended description

2007-12-10 Thread Philippe Cloutier
Package: kdebase-bin-kde3
Version: 4:3.5.8.dfsg.1-2
Severity: minor

The extended description contains

This package contains miscellaneous programs needed by other
KDE applications, particularly those in the KDE base module. They can
be provided by KDE3 or KDE4. This package provides the KDE3 versions.

There should be a space between "KDE" and its version; "KDE 3" and "KDE 4".
BTW, maybe this can be simplified to
"This package contains the KDE 3 version of miscellaneous programs needed by
other KDE applications, particularly those in the KDE base module."

Bug#407598: Test result

2008-01-07 Thread Philippe Cloutier
Raul asked me via IRC to check whether ~/.kde/share/config/kmixrc was
regenerated if I removed it while running KDE,
removed /usr/share/autostart/restore_kmix_volumes.desktop then logged out and
relogged in.
It was regenerated with good values.

It's used as a condition to perform the autostart action.

It may not be desirable upstream. I have no idea how systems which don't use
ALSA save mixer levels. It should be safe to change in Debian which mostly
uses Linux, but I guess it would be better to do something upstream depending
on the platform on which kmix runs.

For simply changing the default, I think it just needs to be changed in
kmix.cpp.

Bug#466930: hkp search+import fails on keyids of more than 4 bytes

2008-02-21 Thread Philippe Teuwen
Package: kgpg
Version: 4:3.5.8-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When working with e.g. the keyserver onak 0.3.5-1 available in Debian,
kgpg fails to parse the keyids of a search because onak returns
40-nibble keyids instead of the more usual 8-nibble keyids.

Kgpg then extracts the 8 *first* nibbles of the long keyid
instead of either leaving the long keyid as such or (less preferable)
to extract the 8 *last* nibbles of the long keyid.

Note that other keyservers could return a 16-nibble keyid as it's also
a valid value for a keyid for gpg.

I guess the best patch is to leave the full keyid as returned
by the keyserver

Example:
onak returns this string:
1024 bit DSA key 440A3A9E56E9D90E99D763A87A135F579AD7E3DB, created:
2002-05-05
while e.g. wwwkeys.pgp.net returns
1024 bit DSA key 9AD7E3DB, created: 2002-05-05

The problem is that kgpg considers in the first case that
the keyid is 440A3A9E instead of 9AD7E3DB

The faulty code is the following:

kservers.cpp line 317:
QString kid=subkey.section(" key ",1,1);
kid=kid.stripWhiteSpace();
=>  kid=kid.left(8);
kitem->setText(3,kid);
QString creation=subkey.section("created",1,1);

I'm sorry but I don't master qt or c++ so I cannot provide a patch
but in regex we need:
/^([a-zA-Z0-9]{8})+/
or if you really want to get only 8, 16 and 40-nibble keyids
(but which server would return other values??):
/^(([a-zA-Z0-9]{24})?[a-zA-Z0-9]{8})?[a-zA-Z0-9]{8}/

Mmm ok you won, I didn't want to install the 243Mb of build dependencies ;-)
subkey is the full string and section "key" means all the right part
so we've to get another section, the left of ", created"

Here is a patch, it works with both short and long keyid servers.

Mm sorry it's probably safer to use just "," instead of ", created"
in case of servers replying with sth else than one space between , and

Bug#524751: kdm: KDM 4.2.2 X server startup timeout, terminating

2009-04-19 Thread Philippe Latu
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: normal

On power-cycle system startup KDM fails to start probably because of heavy load.
Here are the relevant lines of syslog.

Apr 19 09:12:03 B0x kdm[6315]: X server startup timeout, terminating
Apr 19 09:12:03 B0x kdm[6315]: X server for display :0 cannot be started,
session disabled

When issuing '/etc/init.d/kdm restart' a few seconds later, everything starts
normally.

Any hint ?

kaddressbook is doing with std.vcf, std.vcf__0, std.vcs__1, etc.

Bug#393159: Confirmed

2006-10-15 Thread Philippe Cloutier

tags 393159 + confirmed
close 393159 4:3.5.5a-2
thanks

This is confirmed by http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135645
If anyone can reproduce this bug with kdebase 3.5.5, please report. This
is probably a serious bug, and will be fixed by kdebase's transition to
testing, which is blocked by the libraw1394 transition.

To launch a graphical application as root without using kdesu, gksu (a
Gtk+ application with significant dependencies) or sux can be used.

This appears to affect the menu shortcut too, so I'm retitling and
upgrading.

Upstream issued a patch and closed the bug report.

I am afraid to confirm this problem from testing on my main Etch

duplicate of #135561. I have requested a justification from /Bram

Bug#392052: Upgrade fixed as expected

2006-10-26 Thread Philippe Cloutier

So, since 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1 is now in testing, it's now solved as far as
I'm concerned. Puzzling, though.

This looks normal. You had a buggy version of kdelibs, and an upgrade
fixed it.

If anyone else than Ulf Leichsenring still experiences this issue in
testing, please report.

For reference, this is upstream #135561.

Bug#379216: Really the same bug?

2006-10-27 Thread Philippe Cloutier

Hi Modestas,
I am surprised that you consider #379216 and #395146 to be about the
same bug for these reasons:

#379216 is supposed to be closed
#379216's submitter refered to upstream #129707 and
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2006/06/msg02451.html, which are
definitely not about the same problem as #395146
#395146 is AFAIK a kdelibs 3.5.5 regression, while #379216 was present
in 3.5.3
#379216 doesn't mention "Error message received from manager:
client-error-bad-request"

The only big similarity is the fact that commenting
/var/run/cups/cups.sock line workarounds the issue.

Is your idea that this bug would have been fixed, then reintroduced in
3.5.5?

Yes, because the patch fixing it was dropped.

Thank you Modestas. For documentation purposes, I am reassigning to

Bug#437956: please mention that akregator supports Atom in description

2007-08-14 Thread Philippe Cloutier

Package: akregator
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

Although akregator supports Atom feeds, the short description suggests
that it doesn't ("RSS feed aggregator for KDE").
Changing that to "KDE feed aggregator" or "KDE RSS and Atom feed
aggregator" should solve this issue.

I reproduce this with 3.5.7. I don't see how the commit Andreas pointed could

Bug#447545: Fails to connect to SMB share

2007-10-21 Thread Philippe Cloutier
Package: kdebase-kio-plugins
Version: 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-1
Severity: normal

If I go to smb://localhost/ as user chealer, I see two shares, as expected,
one of them "homes".
If I click on it, konqueror displays an error popup "The file or folder
smb://localhost/homes does not exist."
Setting the default username to chealer and the default password to my Unix
password in kcmshell lanbrowser works around the problem.

 Expected behaviour:
If the assumption is right but fails, provide an appropriate error message,
or prompt for real credentials.
If the assumption is wrong, prompt for real credentials before trying.

A similar problem happens in nautilus. According to Stephan Kulow, this is a
libsmbclient bug.

Mostly because I don't know libsmbclient [enough]. I'm not sure it is a
libsmbclient bug, and if it is, I couldn't explain what the bug is nor
provide a testcase.

Second, other users are more likely to look for a bug report against
kdebase-kio-plugins than libsmbclient.

Ideally, someone would check how kio-smb uses libsmbclient, open a new report
if appropriate, and mark this one as blocked.

Issue in testing

2015-10-13 Thread MENGUAL Jean-Philippe

Hi,

On Stretch, I try installing qt-at-spi:i386, next to qt-at-spi:amd64. I
get today: libkdecore5 conflicts with libkdecore5:i386. Is it known? Is
it fixed on sid? Should I report and where? I hope soon qt-at-spi 32 and
64bits can live together.

Regards,

Bug#1008991: qtsvg-opensource-src: please provide QT6 libraries

2022-04-05 Thread Louis-Philippe Véronneau
Package: src:qtsvg-opensource-src
Severity: wishlist

Dear maintainers,

Would it be possible to start providing QT6 libraries for this package?

QT6 packaging in Debian has started and a bunch of core libs and tools
are already in the archive.

If possible, I would like be able to build qpdfview using QT6 in time
for the Bookworm freeze :)

Cheers,

Bug#1040083: qtwebengine-opensource-src: deprecation of Python libraries asyncore and asynchat

2023-07-01 Thread Louis-Philippe Véronneau

Source: qtwebengine-opensource-src
Severity: important
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: asyncore-asynchat-deprecation

Dear maintainer(s),

In Python 3.6, asyncore and asynchat have been formally marked as
deprecated. Code that imports these libraries will no longer work from
Python 3.12, which is currently in Trixie.

Since qtwebengine-opensource-src uses either of these Python libraries,
please prepare for this removal and migrate away from them.

See this link for more details:
