Package: plasma-workspace Version: 4:5.27.5-2 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: m...@gallifrey-blr.fr Dear Maintainer, When starting up the computer, always plasmashell segfaults. Also while using the computer it' ok. When I start, the screen turn to white, desktop freezing, computer fan runs at max speed and have warning message that my files system didn't respond. Bug#775763: does weird things on lid close
Package: kde-plasma-desktop Version: 5:84 Severity: normal Hi, this may be related to systemd. Things have gotten so complex since then that I am at a loss about how to find out which actual component is to blame. I hope that someone more knowledgeable will be able to properly triage and reassign this. It may be possible that this is a duplicate, which I was not able to determine myself for the same reasons. I have set my KDE in Energy Saving - System Settings so that the screen is locked when I close the lid while the system is on AC power. It is set to suspend on lid close only "On Battery" and "On Low Battery". It looks like the system honors these settings. At least, the moon symbol does not come up when the lid is closed. After opening the lid again, I briefly see my desktop before the sceen lock kicks in. This may be an accidental information disclosure bug. Additionally, a WLAN reconnect seems to happen. The plasma-nm applet shows a swirl and I am prompted for the KWallet password. This is really important since I guess that network connections get severed in this situation. When I tell my system not to suspend on lid close, I do expect it to stay online as well. Bug#775765: does weird things on suspend via K menu
When I tell my system to suspend to RAM via K Menu - Leave - Suspend to RAM, it properly goes to sleep. However, when I wake it up again, I find myself at a useable, unlocked desktop with a dialog open saying that authentication is necessary to suspend the system. When I enter my password in that dialog, the system goes to sleep again. The ugly bug is: When I tell the system to suspend, it suspends twice in a row. The security relevant bug is: When I tell the system to suspend, and leave the system alone in this state, assuming that my session was locked before going to sleep, I actually lose my session to anybody able to hit the power button since my session is not locked any more before sending the system to sleep. Bug#911931: kcachegrind gives confusing and wrong error message for valgridn files with long commandlines
Package: kcachegrind Version: 4:17.08.3-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, when opening a cachegrind file generated with valgrind, kcachegrind failed to open the file with the following message: Could not open file "cachegrind.out.2772". Check it exists and you have enough permissions to read it. strace showed that kcachegrind was able to open the file. The real reason, as it turned out, was that the commandline was very long (the result of expanding a directory full of tcpdumps with *, generating a 1MB command line). Manually editing the file to shorten the command line in the file made kcachegrind load the file. AFAICS, there are two bugs here: 1) kcachegrind giving a wrong and confusing error message (apparently, it was able to open the file just fine, but then failed to parse the contents). 2) kcachegrind not being able to parse the output of valgrind (which is the main purpose it was written for) Obviously, kcachegrind could use a better error message, and more importantly, should be able to parse the valgrind output. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.5 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-debug'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.14.73-041473-generic (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=C (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/bash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages kcachegrind depends on: ii kio 5.28.0-2 ii libc6 2.27-6 ii libkf5archive55.28.0-2 ii libkf5configcore5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5configwidgets5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5coreaddons5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5i18n5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5jobwidgets5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5kiocore55.28.0-2 ii libkf5widgetsaddons5 5.28.0-3 ii libkf5xmlgui5 5.28.0-1 ii libqt5core5a 5.11.2+dfsg-3 ii libqt5dbus5 5.11.2+dfsg-3 ii libqt5gui55.11.2+dfsg-3 ii libqt5widgets55.11.2+dfsg-3 ii libstdc++68.2.0-8 Versions of packages kcachegrind recommends: ii graphviz 2.38.0-17 ii valgrind 1:3.13.0-2.1 Versions of packages kcachegrind suggests: ii kcachegrind-converters 4:16.08.3-1 ii khelpcenter 4:16.08.3-1 -- no debconf information

Bug#303708: kopete: seems to cache DNS server information which is bad when network changes
Package: kopete Version: 3.3.2-2 Severity: wishlist Kopete seems to cache the DNS server code. So, when the client changes networks (which is frequently the case for mobile machines), kopete will on reconnection try to resolve the ICQ server via the old DNS server which might not answer to requests from the new network. Kopete should always query /etc/resolv.conf before initiating a connection. This might be a library issue, please reassign as appropriate. There is a discussion in the KDE bug ticket that seems to make sense to me. kdesu is exploiting a vulnerability in sudo that we fixed by forcing the pty. If we don't want to lose kdesu's functionality, we need either fixing kdesu so that is uses "legal" methods to use sudo, or we need to re-open the vulnerability to allow unmodified kdesu to work. This is kdesu's vulnerability now ;-) I would love to see kdesu fixed in some future, so that the "insecure" sudo rule can be removed. It would be an idea to ship the file with the rule commented out by default so that every local admin can cause their own vulnerability, but that'd probable cause a new avalanche of "kdesu broken" bug reports. > I’m no security expert at all but if I read the CVE description correctly, > the issue is with the su'ed command being able to escape the su user > session. > Is it OK in this case because kdesu is used to gain root from non-root and > so escaping the su session only gives you back the original non-root user > rights ? Bug#1041360: partitionmanager calls btrfsck --repair causing data corruption
Package: partitionmanager Version: 22.12.3-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I was trying to resize a btrfs partition. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I saw partitionmanager invoke "btrfsck --repair" on the partition without asking. * What was the outcome of this action? I immediately killed partitionmanager, and still suffer from shock! :) * What outcome did you expect instead? btrfsck --repair is well known to corrupt data, and under no circumstances must a program run it without explicitly asking the user. Note the warning message that the program outputs: WARNING: Do not use --repair unless you are advised to do so by a developer or an experienced user, This is not an idle warning to be ignored. MAybe one day in the future, btrfsck --repair will be as useful as other fsck programs, but at this point in time, running btrfsck --repair almost invariably results in making things worse rather than better. -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.0 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (990, 'stable-updates'), (990, 'stable-security'), (990, 'stable'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (500, 'oldstable-debug'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386, x32 Kernel: Linux 6.1.37-schmorp (SMP w/24 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_USER, TAINT_WARN, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_IE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_IE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages partitionmanager depends on: ii kio 5.103.0-1 ii libc6 2.36-9 ii libkf5configcore5 5.103.0-2 ii libkf5configgui5 5.103.0-2 ii libkf5configwidgets5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5coreaddons5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5crash5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5dbusaddons5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5i18n5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5jobwidgets5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5kiocore55.103.0-1 ii libkf5kiogui5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5widgetsaddons5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5windowsystem5 5.103.0-1 ii libkf5xmlgui5 5.103.0-1 ii libkpmcore12 22.12.3-1 ii libpolkit-qt5-1-1 0.114.0-2 ii libqt5core5a 5.15.8+dfsg-11 ii libqt5gui55.15.8+dfsg-11 ii libqt5widgets55.15.8+dfsg-11 ii libstdc++612.2.0-14 partitionmanager recommends no packages. Bug#993723: Could not enter folder tags
Package: dolphin Version: 4:21.08.1-1 Severity: minor Hi, thanks for taking great care of KDE! The updates in sid after the bullseye release were painless and smooth. Great work. Bug#468554: kmail: misdecodes MIME-encoded headers
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.5.8-1 Severity: normal When one uses kmail to reply to a message that has a MIME-encoded From:-header with an encoded comma, kmail doesn't put the address in quotes, generating two addresses (one of them invalid): From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Haber=2C_Marc?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> gets decoded as From: Haber, Marc <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and when I reply to this, I get one (invalid) recipient "Haber", and one (valid, but incomplete) recipient "Marc <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>". When I do the same stunt with mutt, the From:-Header gets decoded as From: "Haber, Marc" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> which can be replied, generating one single recipient. Bug#525112: kmail: crashes when deleting message from IMAP server
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.5.9-5 Severity: normal Hi, I have crashes when deleting messages from an IMAP server (Microsoft Exchange) using the "Del" key. Backtrace attached. Unforunately, I cannot wait for the debugging and will use Outlook to clean up the mailbox before continuing to work. I hope the backtrace helps. This may be related to #474140 which was recently closed. Bug#650207: kde: Recently used menu entry doesn't work
Package: kdebase-workspace Version: 4:4.6.5-3 Severity: normal File: kde In the app launcher menu configuration I select the "Recently used" option, and it shows up on the menu. KDE plans for the squeeze cycle
Heya, As announced on dda [RT1], we want to get an impression when releasing Squeeze is feasible. We have proposed a (quite ambitious) freeze in December 2009, and some developers have noted that their planned changes wouldn't be possible in this time frame. So, to find out when releasing would work for most people, it would be great if you could answer the following questions: * Which major upstream releases of KDE are expected in the next two years? Which of those are material for Debian stable, which might be a bit flaky? * How much time do you usually need from a new upstream release of KDE to a stable Debian package in unstable? * How many "big" transitions will the upcoming changes cause? When should those happen? Can we do something to make them easier? Thanks, Marc [RT1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2009/07/msg1.html pgpOGyLafYHHa.pgp Description: PGP signature

And, to make things worse, ksysguardd's package description suggests that it is only needed to monitor a _remote_ system. Bug#342461: klipper: bad interaction with wine applications
Package: klipper Severity: normal Hi, I frequently use wine to run a certain windows application on my KDE system. Since selection pasting does not work between KDE and wine, I have to resort to using the "real" clipboard (right mouse click, cut/copy/paste) to transfer text strings towards and from that application. Unfortunately, klipper interacts badly that way. When I have copied some information which matches a klipper action regexp from the Windows application into the klipper clipboard, the klipper action menu keeps popping up at random intervals offering to invoke a web browser or to do some other action with the data. This happens even if the "normal" selection has been used to copy and paste some information in between KDE applications. Somehow, the clipboard seems to jump the queue and to want to be first again. This annoying behavior only stops after I have used right click plus Copy in a KDE application to overwrite the contents from the Windows application. I am at a loss in debugging this, but I suspect that wine keeps pushing the same content to the clipboard again and again, which keeps again and again triggering klipper's action. Since it is klipper misbehaving here (it should not repeatedly offer the same clipboard contents for actions), I am filing the bug against klipper, asking to sort this out with wine. I can try to help debugging, but you need to tell me what do to. Can klipper write log information about received messages and clipboard actions to a file? This is a recurring bug that accompanies me since KDE 3.3, and it happens on current unstable for at least a year now. I believe that -L$QTDIR -lQt* should only appear at the end of LIBS (or close to the end), and -L$QTDIR only if it is needed; maybe even use /usr/lib/libQt*.so instead of -L/-l flags, but I am dreaming. At least I need to be able to add -L flags before -L$QTDIR (maybe that is possible and I and the author of the package just need to read the doc...). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#348745: kwin puts menu windows *behind* their owning window
Package: kwin Version: 4:3.5.0-4 Severity: normal kwin (at least in default debian config) puts windows with WM_TRANSIENT_FOR property behind that window, making them completely unusable. For example, when ctrl-button3 clicking into a rxvt-unicode window the window loses focus and nothing seems to happen. When one clicks near the border you can see that the menu opens _behind_ the terminal window, with focus correctly set to it. While this is a correct implementation of the EWMH and ICCCM, which says: The WM_TRANSIENT_FOR property contains the ID of another top-level window. The implication is that this window is a pop-up on behalf of the named window, and window managers may decide not to decorate transient windows or may treat them differently in other ways. In particular, window managers should present newly mapped WM_TRANSIENT_FOR windows without requiring any user interaction, even if mapping top-level windows normally does require interaction. Dialogue boxes, for example, are an example of windows that should have WM_TRANSIENT_FOR set. it is extremely poor behaviour, and makes using menus with apps that only set WM_TRANSIENT_FOR impossible. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15.1 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kwin depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.0-3 core libraries for all KDE applica ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio21.7-3 The Network Audio System (NAS). Bug#345388: libqt4-dev: qmake adds -L/usr/lib
Actually, using LIBPATH instead of putting the -L flags in LIBS allows to have directories before /usr/lib, and it seems to be the recommended way to do things. Bug#385563: superkaramba: "get hot new stuff" does only work for "highest rated"
Package: superkaramba Version: 3.5.4-1 Severity: normal I open up superkaramba and click on "New Stuff". The following dialog has three tabs, "Highest Rated", "Most downloads" and "Latest". In the "Highest Rated" tab, things work as I suspect it was designed: I clock on an applet name, and I get information about the applet and can install it. This does not work in the two other tabs: Clicks in the list in these tabs only cause a slight flicker in the details pane while the details of the applet selected in "Highest Rated" stay displayed. Bug#388619: knetwalk: Knetwalk still crashes when solved
Package: knetwalk Version: 4:3.5.4-2+b1 Severity: important I see there's another similar resolved bug, but seems like either it's not completely resolved, or either this is a new one. When I solve the game, a segfault occurs, and I see this if I start it from konsole: QGArray::at: Absolute index 4 out of range KCrash: Application 'knetwalk' crashing... Then KCrash shows up, but shows nothing interesting (no debugging symbols found). Only happens running the game as a normal user. If I run it as root, then it works fine (!?). Bug#398287: kopete: ICQ: "add contacts to server list" list popping up at every program start
Package: kopete Version: 3.5.5-2 Severity: normal I have been using kopete to access ICQ for quite a while. For a period of three months, I used gaim instead. Since I have migrated back to kopete, at every program start I get a dialog box titled "Add contacts to server list", containing a list of UINs and the question "The following contacts are not on your contact list. Would you like to add them?" and an "Add" and a "Do not add" button. Whatever I do, the dialog comes back every time, and it always contains the same UINs. It doesn't care whether I marked an UIN and clicked on "do not add" the last time, it always shows the same UIN list over and over.
