Bug#792397: dolphin : network explorer

2015-07-14 Thread Marc

Package: kde-baseapps
Version: 4:15.04.3-1

Dear Maintainer,

When I launch dolphin and go to network space in left columns and click
network,
I obtain an empty folder.
It's look like dolphin doesn't explore the network.
To bypass the problem, I just enter for exemple
"smb://windows-computers/share" in the address bar.

Bug#1039063: plasma-workspace: Plasmashell have segfault each time I strat my computer

2023-06-25 Thread marc
Package: plasma-workspace
Version: 4:5.27.5-2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: m...@gallifrey-blr.fr

Dear Maintainer,
When starting up the computer, always plasmashell segfaults. Also while using
the computer it' ok.
When I start, the screen turn to white, desktop freezing, computer fan runs at
max speed and have warning message that my files system didn't respond. (/,
/home and /boot/efi)

That behaviour wasn't introduced with the newest version, but already exists
since several months

if there's anything else I can help with, just ask. I have no idea what exactly
triggers the segfault.

Regards

Bug#745875: /usr/bin/kwin: KWin consumes 100% of one of my CPUs while idle

2014-04-26 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.11.8-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/kwin

KWin consumes 100% of one of my CPUs while the computer is idle. I suspect it
has something to do with the screensaver, because it stops doing so whenever I
press any key or move the mouse. I made a small script that run top every 10
seconds and logs it to a file, and I got lots of this kind of reports:

top - 09:47:36 up 18:13, 5 users, load average: 1,00, 1,03, 1,05

Notice the amount of accumulated CPU time. The screensaver is configured to
just show the blank screen, so it really shouldn't affect performance.

Bug#775763: does weird things on lid close

2015-01-19 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kde-plasma-desktop
Version: 5:84
Severity: normal

Hi,

this may be related to systemd. Things have gotten so complex since
then that I am at a loss about how to find out which actual component
is to blame. I hope that someone more knowledgeable will be able to
properly triage and reassign this. It may be possible that this is a
duplicate, which I was not able to determine myself for the same
reasons.

I have set my KDE in Energy Saving - System Settings so that the
screen is locked when I close the lid while the system is on AC power.
It is set to suspend on lid close only "On Battery" and "On Low
Battery".

It looks like the system honors these settings. At least, the moon
symbol does not come up when the lid is closed. After opening the lid
again, I briefly see my desktop before the sceen lock kicks in. This
may be an accidental information disclosure bug.

Additionally, a WLAN reconnect seems to happen. The plasma-nm applet
shows a swirl and I am prompted for the KWallet password. This is
really important since I guess that network connections get severed in
this situation.

When I tell my system not to suspend on lid close, I do expect it to
stay online as well.

Greetings
Marc

2015-01-19 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kde-plasma-desktop
Version: 5:84
Severity: normal

Hi,

this may be related to systemd. Things have gotten so complex since
then that I am at a loss about how to find out which actual component
is to blame. I hope that someone more knowledgeable will be able to
properly triage and reassign this. It may be possible that this is a
duplicate, which I was not able to determine myself for the same
reasons.

When I tell my system to suspend to RAM via K Menu - Leave - Suspend
to RAM, it properly goes to sleep. However, when I wake it up again, I
find myself at a useable, unlocked desktop with a dialog open saying
that authentication is necessary to suspend the system. When I enter
my password in that dialog, the system goes to sleep again.

The ugly bug is: When I tell the system to suspend, it suspends twice
in a row.

The security relevant bug is: When I tell the system to suspend, and
leave the system alone in this state, assuming that my session was
locked before going to sleep, I actually lose my session to anybody
able to hit the power button since my session is not locked any more
before sending the system to sleep.

Greetings
Marc

If you are refering about a debconf dialog, then, just for the record,
doing so would be a bad idea for various reasons.

Bug#911931: kcachegrind gives confusing and wrong error message for valgridn files with long commandlines

2018-10-26 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: kcachegrind
Version: 4:17.08.3-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when opening a cachegrind file generated with valgrind, kcachegrind failed to
open the file
with the following message:

Could not open file "cachegrind.out.2772". Check it exists and you have
enough permissions to read it.

strace showed that kcachegrind was able to open the file. The real reason,
as it turned out, was that the commandline was very long (the result of
expanding a directory full of tcpdumps with *, generating a 1MB command
line).

Manually editing the file to shorten the command line in the file made
kcachegrind load the file.

AFAICS, there are two bugs here:

1) kcachegrind giving a wrong and confusing error message (apparently, it was
able to open
the file just fine, but then failed to parse the contents).

2) kcachegrind not being able to parse the output of valgrind (which is
the main purpose it was written for)

Obviously, kcachegrind could use a better error message, and more
importantly, should be able to parse the valgrind output.

I guess it's fine to close the issue for okular 4:17.08.3-3 then.

This issue is still present. Way to reproduce:

Start up stretch installer.
Select US locale, but German keyboard
Tell installer to install sid
Install sid base system

apt upgrade
apt install kde-standard
apt install sddm

reboot

See:

  - german keyboard on the text console
  - US keyboard in sddm
  - german keyboard in the plasma session
  - no "Error loading keymap" message in Xorg.0.log
  - my /var/lib/xkb is also empty

How to fix?

Greetings
Marc

It is not the first time I see this kind of messages, and I guess the
question about where they come from is a FAQ, but what needs upgrading to
get rid of this? I don't just want to make kde quiet, I want to remove
the cause for the messages.

Bug#297861: Kopete crashes on incoming icq message from icq5 user

Since that crash is a potentially exploitable buffer overflow, and
severely decreases kopete's usability (most ICQ users will upgrade to
ICQ 5 in the next weeks and will already be using ICQ 5 by the time of
sarge release), I consider this to be a release-critical bug.

> But the Kopete guys will not fix the bug

This doesn't sound very professional by upstream, pulling support for
an "old" version a mere week after release.

Marc

Bug#303708: kopete: seems to cache DNS server information which is bad when network changes

2005-04-08 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kopete
Version: 3.3.2-2
Severity: wishlist

Kopete seems to cache the DNS server code. So, when the client changes
networks (which is frequently the case for mobile machines), kopete
will on reconnection try to resolve the ICQ server via the old DNS
server which might not answer to requests from the new network.

Kopete should always query /etc/resolv.conf before initiating a
connection.

This might be a library issue, please reassign as appropriate.

Greetings
Marc

2005-06-10 Thread marc coll
Package: kget
Version: 4:3.3.2-5
Severity: important

When downloading files larger yhan 4GB (Sarge DVD 1 ISO image, for example),
KGet reports an incorrect file size, 4GB less than real. So, I guess an
unsigned
int is not enough to hold the file size ;)

I don't know if the file downloads well anyway (I'm not going to download a 4GB
file just to find out it hasn't downloaded correctly and I wasted my
time/bandwidth!),
but I suppose it doesn't.

Usually, for a multiarch issue, the +b1 in the version number would make me
suspicious, but maybe not here, the image seems to contain a creation time.

Bug#935031: konsoles started with KDE are black first

2019-08-18 Thread Marc Haber
Package: konsole
Version: 4:19.08.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

this is a regression that came with the update to 19.08.0

I have a number of konsoles that open automatically with KDE. I think
this is a (wanted) feature of the saved session.

Since today's update, those konsoles are black. Window titla and Menu
bar are there but no contents. When I open a new tab using Ctrl-Shift-T,
the konsole becomes usable.

And, i can confirm #934997, no "new tab" button.

Greetings
Marc

I don't see the issue even without the patches any more.

kdesu is cordially invited to ship that file in the package, fixing the
issue for everybody. Please add a comment with the reference to this bug

There is a discussion in the KDE bug ticket that seems to make sense to
me. kdesu is exploiting a vulnerability in sudo that we fixed by forcing
the pty. If we don't want to lose kdesu's functionality, we need either
fixing kdesu so that is uses "legal" methods to use sudo, or we need to
re-open the vulnerability to allow unmodified kdesu to work.

This is kdesu's vulnerability now ;-)

I would love to see kdesu fixed in some future, so that the "insecure"
sudo rule can be removed. It would be an idea to ship the file with the
rule commented out by default so that every local admin can cause their
own vulnerability, but that'd probable cause a new avalanche of "kdesu
broken" bug reports.

I hope that other people can comment on that, I would need to ponder
about that for some time.

Bug#1041360: partitionmanager calls btrfsck --repair causing data corruption

2023-07-17 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: partitionmanager
Version: 22.12.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I was trying to resize a btrfs partition.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I saw partitionmanager invoke "btrfsck --repair" on the partition without
asking.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I immediately killed partitionmanager, and still suffer from shock! :)

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

btrfsck --repair is well known to corrupt data, and under no circumstances
must a program run it without explicitly asking the user. Note the warning
message that the program outputs:

   WARNING:

Do not use --repair unless you are advised to do so by a developer
   or an experienced user,

This is not an idle warning to be ignored. MAybe one day in the future,
btrfsck --repair will be as useful as other fsck programs, but at this
point in time, running btrfsck --repair almost invariably results in
making things worse rather than better.

Bug#993723: Could not enter folder tags

2021-09-05 Thread Marc Haber
Package: dolphin
Version: 4:21.08.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

thanks for taking great care of KDE! The updates in sid after the
bullseye release were painless and smooth. Great work.

On one of my systems, dolphin started to complain "Could not enter
folder tags:/". I googled and found
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=171518. The suggested fix,
balooctl purge, solved the issue for me.

If the package could not do this automatically, it could at least be
documented somewhere so that people know.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#599707: [kcalc] Pasting numbers from the clipboard doesn't always work

2010-10-10 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kcalc
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
If I copy an integer number (like 10) it copies and pastes without
problems, but if the number is a float (like 3.14) it doesn't. I believe
it's probably because of my locale settings. In my country (Spain) we
use a comma to separate the decimals instead of a dot, so I guess it can
cause problems if anyone tought about it when pasting from the clipboard.

Bug#460296: kdelibs5: Wrong Depends on libstreams and libstreamanalyzer

2008-01-11 Thread Marc Fargas
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.0.0-1
Severity: important

Hi,
I just wanted to try KDE 4 so Installed it... and it misereably
failed:

kdeinit4: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkio.so.5: undefined
symbol:
_ZN6Strigi14AnalysisResultC1ERKSslRNS_11IndexWriterERNS_14StreamAnalyzerES2_
startkde: Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation.

After looking around the problem was that I had libstreams0 and
libstreamanalyzer0 on version 0.5.5-2

I needed 0.5.7-1, so kdelibs4 should Depend on at least this version
:)

Cheers,
Marc

I cannot help here, my C++ skill is way too short.

I can, however, confirm that it fixes the issue ;)

That one looks more correct than Sune's other patch, I'll try this one.

Which version is this against? My portable.cpp has

if (p.exists() && p.open(IO_ReadOnly)) {

and

else if (f.exists() && f.open(IO_ReadOnly)) {

instead of the plainer version in the patch.

Bug#468554: kmail: misdecodes MIME-encoded headers

2008-02-29 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.5.8-1
Severity: normal

When one uses kmail to reply to a message that has a MIME-encoded
From:-header with an encoded comma, kmail doesn't put the address in
quotes, generating two addresses (one of them invalid):

From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Haber=2C_Marc?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

gets decoded as

From: Haber, Marc <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

and when I reply to this, I get one (invalid) recipient "Haber", and
one (valid, but incomplete) recipient "Marc <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>".

When I do the same stunt with mutt, the From:-Header gets decoded as

From: "Haber, Marc" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

which can be replied, generating one single recipient.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#470613: karm: [regression] doesn't handle negative times anymore

2008-03-12 Thread Marc Mutz
Package: karm
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: important

To reproduce, make a new task, give it e.g. 0h12m session time.
-> task shows 0:12 (expected)
Re-edit the task, telling karm to subtract 1h from it
-> task shows 0:48 (expected: -0:48)

This is a regression, it worked in previous versions.

I'm certain it worked in KDE 3.2 :)

I'm pretty certain it worked some weeks ago.
So my best guess is it was introduced with the update that came with 4.0r3.

Bug#495599: krdc does not support non-us-keyboards

2008-08-18 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: krdc
Version: 4:3.5.9-3
Severity: normal

At least it doesn't support german or french keyboards: Unless I "setxkbmap us"
or somethign similar,
typing results in garbled output (e.g. I type ":" and get "Ö", I type "ö" and
get "i" etc. on the remote machine).

Then the local keymap is "us", then the keys show up corretcly (i.e. I hit
the "Ö" key and get an "Ö" on the remote side, which has german keyboard
selected). Similar issues happen with french keymaps, other keymaps haven't
been tested.

(Of course, setxkbmap us somehow makes the other applications somewhat hard to
use).

I am filing this against the package which is currently in testing
_AND_ in stable as I do not think that KDE 4 is currently ripe for
use.

Thanks for this confirmation that the Debian KDE team does not care
about crashes in software which is in current stable _and_ testing.

Bug#650207: kde: Recently used menu entry doesn't work

2011-11-27 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.6.5-3
Severity: normal
File: kde

In the app launcher menu configuration I select the "Recently used" option, and
it shows up on the menu. But for some reason, it disappears after I restart
KDE. It's as if the configuration wasn't getting saved to disk. But if I check
my ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc I cn see the following line:

views=Applications,RecentlyUsed,RunCommand,Leave

which I suspect means that it has actually been stored to disk. How can this be
possible?

Bug#668491: knotify crashes after phonon-vlc glitch

Package: kde-runtime

Whenever knotify tries to display a notification which is connected
with an audio notification, it complains that there is something wrong
with the phonon-vlc backend, and crashes afterwards. Backtrac:

Even if there is something wrong with the phonon-vlc backend, knotify
should not crash.

The VLC error message is "LibVLC failed to initialize. Phonon's VLC
backend failed to start. This usually means a problem with your VLC
installation, please report a bug with your distributor". When I click
on "Details" in this error message box, I see a single random byte.

I see this on current Debian unstable, on two different systems.

I have also filed this upstream as
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=297950.

KDE plans for the squeeze cycle

2009-08-16 Thread Marc Brockschmidt
Heya,

As announced on dda [RT1], we want to get an impression when releasing
Squeeze is feasible. We have proposed a (quite ambitious) freeze in December
2009, and some developers have noted that their planned changes wouldn't be
possible in this time frame. So, to find out when releasing would work for
most people, it would be great if you could answer the following questions:

* Which major upstream releases of KDE are expected in the next two
years? Which of those are material for Debian stable, which might be a bit
  flaky?

* How much time do you usually need from a new upstream release of KDE
to a stable Debian package in unstable?

* How many "big" transitions will the upcoming changes cause? When should those
happen? Can we do something to make them easier?

Thanks,
Marc

2009-09-29 Thread Marc Haber
Package: klipper
Version: 4:4.3.1-1

In a new install (on a new system), klipper comes with an empty
actions list, which makes it slightly less useful. KDE 3 klipper was
preconfigured and had at least options for konqueror and firefox,
which was a good start configuration.

actually, the widget should give a meaningful error message if
ksysguardd is not found. And, to make things worse, ksysguardd's
package description suggests that it is only needed to monitor a
_remote_ system.

These two things should be changed despite this bug being a non-bug in
your opinion.

Bug#569768: weird dependencies, libggadget-1.0-0(a) in unstable, uninstallable on i386

2010-02-13 Thread Marc Haber
Package: plasma-scriptengine-googlegadgets
Version: 4:4.3.4-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

there is something weirdly wrong with the dependencies on
plasma-scriptengine-googlegadgets. The package depends on
libggadget-1.0-0, which is only in testing. unstable has
libggadget-1.0-0a, and p-s-g prevents libggadget from being updated.

This has been going on for some weeks with no bug report visible in
Debian, so I thought I'll report it.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#342253: kicker-applets: System Monitor doesn't properly handle transparency

2005-12-06 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kicker-applets
Version: 4:3.4.3-1
Severity: normal

[I wasn't able to properly figure out which binary the System Monitor
belongs to, and I assume that it is ktimemon. If it is not, please
reassign appropriately]

In a transparent panel, the System Monitor sometimes loses
transparency and shows up as a black square with the bars painted
upon. This is replaced by the background pretty fast, but is an
annoying point of activity on the screen.

See attached .png screenshot.

Bug#342461: klipper: bad interaction with wine applications

2005-12-07 Thread Marc Haber
Package: klipper
Severity: normal

Hi,

I frequently use wine to run a certain windows application on my KDE
system. Since selection pasting does not work between KDE and wine, I
have to resort to using the "real" clipboard (right mouse click,
cut/copy/paste) to transfer text strings towards and from that
application. Unfortunately, klipper interacts badly that way.

When I have copied some information which matches a klipper action
regexp from the Windows application into the klipper clipboard, the
klipper action menu keeps popping up at random intervals offering to
invoke a web browser or to do some other action with the data. This
happens even if the "normal" selection has been used to copy and paste
some information in between KDE applications. Somehow, the clipboard
seems to jump the queue and to want to be first again. This annoying
behavior only stops after I have used right click plus Copy in a KDE
application to overwrite the contents from the Windows application.

I am at a loss in debugging this, but I suspect that wine keeps
pushing the same content to the clipboard again and again, which keeps
again and again triggering klipper's action. Since it is klipper
misbehaving here (it should not repeatedly offer the same clipboard
contents for actions), I am filing the bug against klipper, asking to
sort this out with wine.

I can try to help debugging, but you need to tell me what do to. Can
klipper write log information about received messages and clipboard
actions to a file?

This is a recurring bug that accompanies me since KDE 3.3, and it
happens on current unstable for at least a year now.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#342792: konqueror: sometimes leaves out contents from rendering

2005-12-10 Thread Marc Haber
Package: konqueror
Severity: normal

Hi,

This applies to all konqueror versions starting 3.4, including
official Debian and inofficial alioth versions up to the current
3.5.0-1 from alioth.

Sometimes, konqueror does not render a web page completley. It just
leaves out some parts of the page and resumes somewhere lower on the
page. This happens especially often with my own home page,
http://www.zugschlus.de/, and cannot be reproduced. When the HTML
source is inspected, the source is complete. Using Firefox on the same
system doesn't show this misbehavior.

If there is anything I can help in debugging, please say so.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#345388: libqt4-dev: qmake adds -L/usr/lib

On Fri, 30 Dec 2005, Brian Nelson wrote:

I agree it's unneeded, but what problems does it cause?

I was recompiling a package that contains both a library and a program.
When linking the program, "-L/usr/lib" came before "-L../lib" and the
linker tried to link the program against the old version of the library in
/usr/lib.

I believe that -L$QTDIR -lQt* should only appear at the end of LIBS (or
close to the end), and -L$QTDIR only if it is needed; maybe even use
/usr/lib/libQt*.so instead of -L/-l flags, but I am dreaming. At least I

need to be able to add -L flags before -L$QTDIR (maybe that is possible
and I and the author of the package just need to read the doc...).

Bug#348745: kwin puts menu windows *behind* their owning window

2006-01-18 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: kwin
Version: 4:3.5.0-4
Severity: normal

kwin (at least in default debian config) puts windows with
WM_TRANSIENT_FOR property behind that window, making them completely
unusable.

For example, when ctrl-button3 clicking into a rxvt-unicode window the
window loses focus and nothing seems to happen. When one clicks near the
border you can see that the menu opens _behind_ the terminal window, with
focus correctly set to it.

While this is a correct implementation of the EWMH and ICCCM, which says:

The WM_TRANSIENT_FOR property contains the ID of another top-level
window. The implication is that this window is a pop-up on
behalf of the named window, and window managers may decide not
to decorate transient windows or may treat them differently in
other ways. In particular, window managers should present newly
mapped WM_TRANSIENT_FOR windows without requiring any user
interaction, even if mapping top-level windows normally does require
interaction. Dialogue boxes, for example, are an example of windows
  that should have WM_TRANSIENT_FOR set.

it is extremely poor behaviour, and makes using menus with apps that only
set WM_TRANSIENT_FOR impossible.

I can confirm that this happens to me as well.

Bug#345388: libqt4-dev: qmake adds -L/usr/lib

2006-03-07 Thread Marc Glisse
Actually, using LIBPATH instead of putting the -L flags in LIBS allows to
have directories before /usr/lib, and it seems to be the recommended way
to do things. But that does not meen -L/usr/lib should not be removed.

I am experiencing the same issues, but only if the taskbar applet is
configured. Try removing taskbar and report back whether this stops
the regular crashes.

This is not a fix, but merely a debugging aid to find out whether it
makes sense to scrutinize taskbar.

Bug#358201: kopete: ignore option for icq not found

2006-03-21 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kopete
Version: 3.5.1-2
Severity: normal

Kopete 3.5.1-2 does not seem to have an "ignore user" option any more.

Upstream is not willing to support this six week old version which is
part of currently released KDE. All they say on IRC "0.11 is old, use
0.12".

Neat. Didn't know that. One never stops learning.

Which is actually a big pity considering that the patch necessary is
like five lines of code.

Disabling taskbar does not disable the tray. While I was still using
kopete, the kopete tray icon was available even with taskbar disabled.

Bug#351252: kicker: backtrace on current sid

2006-05-30 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kicker
Version: 4:3.5.2-2+b1
Followup-For: Bug #351252

The issue is clearly depending on taskbar. I have been working without
a single crash for weeks without taskbar, and had the first crash
within minutes of re-enabling taskbar. I am attaching the backtrace,
which is probably inconclusive. Which dbg package do I need to install
to get a more meaningful backtrace?

If your other fonts look funny as well, try disabling antialiasing in

Bug#385562: superkaramba: badly documented

2006-09-01 Thread Marc Haber
Package: superkaramba
Version: 3.5.4-1
Severity: normal

The superkaramba package is severely underdocumented. It only contains
a man page stub and a KDE help file with an FAQ that concentrates on
issues irrelevant for Debian users.

In the current state, it is nearly useless for me.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#385563: superkaramba: "get hot new stuff" does only work for "highest rated"

2006-09-01 Thread Marc Haber
Package: superkaramba
Version: 3.5.4-1
Severity: normal

I open up superkaramba and click on "New Stuff". The following dialog
has three tabs, "Highest Rated", "Most downloads" and "Latest". In the
"Highest Rated" tab, things work as I suspect it was designed: I clock
on an applet name, and I get information about the applet and can
install it.

This does not work in the two other tabs: Clicks in the list in these
tabs only cause a slight flicker in the details pane while the details
of the applet selected in "Highest Rated" stay displayed.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#388619: knetwalk: Knetwalk still crashes when solved

2006-09-21 Thread marc coll
Package: knetwalk
Version: 4:3.5.4-2+b1
Severity: important

I see there's another similar resolved bug, but seems like either it's not
completely resolved,
or either this is a new one.
When I solve the game, a segfault occurs, and I see this if I start it from
konsole:

QGArray::at: Absolute index 4 out of range
KCrash: Application 'knetwalk' crashing...

Then KCrash shows up, but shows nothing interesting (no debugging symbols
found).

Only happens running the game as a normal user. If I run it as root, then it
works fine (!?).
I've tried to generate a core file, but to no avail.

Bug#398286: ICQ: "You are not allowed to add yourself to the contact list."

2006-11-12 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kopete
Version: 3.5.5-2
Severity: normal

In a period when I was using gaim to access ICQ, I have added myself
to my contact list to see which status my account was set to. This
works.

Since migrating back to kopete, I get at every program start the error
message "You are not allowed to add yourself to the contact list. The
addition of "" to account "" will not take place."

I'd like this to be possible with kopete.

Bug#398287: kopete: ICQ: "add contacts to server list" list popping up at every program start

2006-11-12 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kopete
Version: 3.5.5-2
Severity: normal

I have been using kopete to access ICQ for quite a while. For a period
of three months, I used gaim instead.

Since I have migrated back to kopete, at every program start I get a
dialog box titled "Add contacts to server list", containing a list of
UINs and the question "The following contacts are not on your contact
list. Would you like to add them?" and an "Add" and a "Do not add"
button.

Whatever I do, the dialog comes back every time, and it always
contains the same UINs. It doesn't care whether I marked an UIN and
clicked on "do not add" the last time, it always shows the same UIN
list over and over.

I have not tested it, no. I hate the idea of a shell script wrapper
