libvncserver/client transition

2015-04-18 Thread Peter Spiess-Knafl
Dear libvncserver/client rdepends maintainer!

I know we are currently in freeze. After the release of Jessie, I would
like to migrate to the new libvncserver1 package [1], currently
available in experimental.

Could you please give it a first try to build your packages against the
new version, and contact me if any problems occur?

I also started a transition request [2].

Thank you and Greetings
Peter

Bug#785874: No h.264 support in stable and sid

2015-06-26 Thread Peter Spiess-Knafl
Hi!

It is also worth mentioning, that the current state of qt5-multimedia
does not allow decoding H.264 videos using the Qml Video element.

The package needs gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg to successfully play h.264 videos
from Qt applications.

qstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is no longer available in jessie or sid. One has to
import oldstable into sources.list and set appropriate pinnings to allow
installing this package.

I think this is related to the mentioned request to use gstreamer1.0. I
noticed there is a gstreamer1.0-libav package, but it does not allow for
h.264 playback in Qt.

Thank you and greetings
Peter

Bug#785874: No h.264 support in stable and sid

Hi!

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

Ah ok. I thought that gstreamer1.0-libav was somehow a direct
replacement for gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

I will check that with Qt5.5

However in Jessie, there is currently no possibility to decode H.264
videos from qt, since gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is required for that. Do you
have an idea how we could fix this?

Greetings
Peter
