Bug#808244: dolphin: Crashes randomly and frequently
I confirm the same issue, dolphin is close to unusable. One case where I can reproduce a crash is using the 'Details View Mode' and selecting several files (like 5 or 6). Other crashes happen too but I can't related them to any specific user behavior, in general the chances that dolphin stays open more that 5 minutes are very slim. Bug#818519: libqt5core5a: KDE apps randomly switch to unmapped state (hidden)
Package: libqt5core5a Version: 5.5.1+dfsg-16 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After last upgrade from sid a week ago, several KDE apps randomly switch to "Unmapped" state, becoming invisible even in the task bar. I can see they are unmapped via xwininfo, the only way to recover i found is with xdotool (or killing them by command line). Ex. $ xdotool search --pid `pidof kate` 119538548 119539507 119540209 $ xwininfo -id 119538548 | grep 'Map State' Map State: IsUnMapped $ xdotool windowmap --sync 119538548 Note they are not moved to another virtual desktop or activity. I have only 1 activity and 1 virtual desktop, spanning over two screens. The issues seems to raise when the system get locked for inactivity but i was not able to confirm that every time. Also I experience that mostly with Kate and Konsole as they are the KDE5 apps i uses more often but i suppose others KDE5 apps would be affected too. The others always-open app i use is Firefox which seems unaffected (that's why i am guessing the issue is linked to KDE5 only). -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (870, 'unstable'), (850, 'testing'), (825, 'experimental'), (800, 'stable'), (500, 'testing-updates') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.4.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages libqt5core5a depends on: ii libc6 2.22-3 ii libgcc1 1:5.3.1-11 ii libglib2.0-0 2.46.2-3 ii libicu55 55.1-7 ii libpcre16-3 2:8.38-3 ii libstdc++65.3.1-11 ii zlib1g1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 Versions of packages libqt5core5a recommends: ii qttranslations5-l10n 5.5.1-2 Versions of packages libqt5core5a suggests: ii libthai0 0.1.24-2 -- no debconf information

The version control systems integration is part of dolphin-plugins and I can reproduce your issue with the versions currently in testing: dolphin 20.08.2 and dolphin-plugins 20.04.2. There seem to be a requirement to have exact same versions between the 2 that I haven’t seen explicitly in the make files. So to fix it immediately you can: - remove dolphin-plugins for now - grab dolphin-plugins/20.08.2 from unstable Or you can wait for dolphin-plugins/20.08.2 to migrate to testing which should happen in the next 24H. I am filing this bug report here after this was recommended by the expert because other users might hit into the same problem in other situations and Debian package maintainers may have it easier to track this issue here. Bug#1033212: plasma-mobile fails to start on PP after kwin's commit eef9bd5c with "libkwinglutils: Shaders are not supported"
Package: kwin Version: 4:5.27.2-1 Severity: grave Tags: patch,upstream,fixed-upstream Hi and thank you for maintaining kwin in Debian! With 5.27.2 release, plasma-mobile does not start on Pine64 Pinephone and similar low-spec devices any more. It worked ok with kwin 5.26.90. I've already reported this issue upstream [1] and it seems this got fixed in 5.27.3 with commit [2]: please consider cherry-picking that commit into Debian, in order to have plasma-mobile working again in bookworm. Severity of this bug is grave as "makes the package in question unusable or mostly so": please find in the upstream bug report a photo [3] of my PP when starting plasma-mobile on top of kwin actually in bookworm. Nothing can be used, only a white rectangle on black background is shown: that is, this bug makes plasma-mobile completely unusable on some devices in the upcoming stable release. Hi Santiago, I'm the maintainer of plasma-mobile package in Debian, plus some of the related apps. At the moment, the present bug keeps meta-plasma-mobile metapackage out of trixie, thus letting the building of Mobian plasma-mobile images to fail [1]. As I wrote in the previous message, looking into buildd and reproducible-builds, I thought this to be solved, but from your attachment I see I shouldn't have assumed. I'm not the maintainer of wacomtablet, so I'm not sure what to touch if tests are still failing. I see in your attachment that the error message is always the same as in the original report, then I'd try e.g. [2] that I see is not implemented in d/rules for wacomtablet, but maybe it's just better to wait for the new version of wacomtablet (6.1.0-1 now in experimental) to be uploaded to sid and check how that new version behaves. Hi Patrick, I do not want to put too much burden on the Qt/KDE team. I've seen in the past weeks Qt6, then KF6 and now Plasma6 steadily being packaged and uploaded into experimental, making it easier and easier for me to test the plasma-mobile_6.x packaging. I know it's a big effort, so big thank you for that! When you estimate it being matter of one month or less, I definitely prefer to have Mobian plasma-mobile weekly images' building to fail for a few weeks more (users still have the pre-time64-migration images available, then they can upgrade from there) and let you continue with Plasma6 packaging, in order to get plasma-mobile_6.x available sooner for Mobian users. At the moment, the present bug keeps meta-plasma- mobile metapackage out of trixie, thus letting the building of Mobian plasma-mobile images to fail [1]. I don't have the resources to dig into why the tests are failing, but I could disable them for the time being if wacomtablet is a blocker for something right now. We will definitely revisit this once the new version in exp (now part of Plasma 6) can be compiled there.
Bug#1026159: okular: Bogus memory allocation size error - some pages not displayed
Hi, I am not the package's maintainer and maybe I am not so much into the topic, but this bug report is barely understandable: what is being reported? Is this package failing to build from source? How is it being built? What's the error message? Or is this about okular failing to display some pages of a specific PDF document? On which okular version? Does this deserve a serious severity? If you are facing two issues, please file two separate bug reports... Kind regards Marco

I'm not sure if it's a Debian package bug or a Kwifimanager bug. I've looked up in the kwifimanager bugs reports and found nothing related to this problem... Thanks for your attention. -- Marco Laverdière
KDE 3.5.0 packages at alioth + hal migration
Hi all, I've started building from sources packages from alioth [1] when I saw that also amd64 debs were generated, what a nice bonus, thanks! I noticed a few missing packages, most noticed by myself was kdepim and kde-i18n, but I managed to build them from dapper sources with minimum changelog editings, and they are working at least (they have another menu structure it seems). Are kdepim and other missing released archives planned to be added soon? I would like to help testing them. I also tried to rebuild kdebase with the new hal, dbus and pmount from experimental and they just need a tweak on control file to update the libdbus-qt-1 builddep. Builded fine and working great on amd64. It will be nice to prepare kde 3.5.0 with a eye on imminent hal transition or I missed something? stupid dependencies on update-inetd
I don't know exactly how it happened, but a large number of maintainers apparently ignored the discussions on this list and added to their packages a dependency on update-inetd. This is *TOTALLY WRONG* because the /usr/sbin/update-inetd interface is guaranteed to be provided by whatever implements the inet-superserver virtual package and not by the update-inetd package currently depended on by some inetd packages. Indeed, the update-inetd package does not depend on a daemon package nor it provides one itself. Some of these packages instead are only slightly less broken and depend both on inet-superserver and update-inetd, making impossible to install a future xinetd package providing its own /usr/sbin/update-inetd. For the same reason the dependency on netbase must be removed, especially now that it does not depend anymore on inet-superserver. (I know that in theory I should have waited for all packages to be fixed before removing the dependency, but realistically this would not have happened before lenny or lenny+1...) grep-dctrl -s Package,Depends --field=Depends update-inetd \ --and --not --field=Provides inet-superserver /var/lib/dpkg/available Richard A Nelson (Rick) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> sendmail Masayuki Hatta (mhatta) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ebnetd Jari Aalto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> micro-httpd Russ Allbery <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> kftgt remctl sident Chris Butler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wu-ftpd Debian CUPS Maintainers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> cupsys Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers kdenetwork Debian Samba Maintainers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> samba Ludovic Drolez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> atftp Turbo Fredriksson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> midentd Debian QA Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ffingerd Sam Hartman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> krb5 Michael Holzt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> gwhois John H. At the time of the build attempt, koko was at Qt5 version (23.08.5), while kquickimageeditor was already at Qt6 version (0.4.0). Outcome of this is what is shown in your log -- qmlplugindump failed for org.kde.kquickimageeditor. -- Could NOT find org.kde.kquickimageeditor-QMLModule (missing: org.kde.kquickimageeditor-QMLModule_FOUND) CMake Warning at /usr/share/cmake-3.31/Modules/CMakeFindDependencyMacro.cmake:76 (find_package): Could not find a configuration file for package "Qt5Core" that is compatible with requested version "6.6.0". The following configuration files were considered but not accepted: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Core/Qt5CoreConfig.cmake, version: 5.15.15 /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/Qt5Core/Qt5CoreConfig.cmake, version: 5.15.15 Yesterday [2] the Qt6 version (24.08.3) version of koko was uploaded to sid, then I expect this FTBFS to be solved now. Looking at reproducible-builds log [3] seems also to confirm this analysis (let's ignore armhf for now, I've seen a lot of Plasma packages failing on that architecture recently): build failed on Dec,14th for koko_23.08.5, while it built reproducibly today for koko_24.08.3 . Is there another build attempt planned on your side, in order to confirm this bug to be solved, so that koko can migrate to trixie in a few days? Bug#1100380: plasma-mobile: undeclared file conflict with kde-config-mobile-networking
Hi, I've tried to reproduce this issue by upgrading a Mobian VM from bookworm to trixie. Starting from a bookworm system with both plasma-mobile and kde-config-mobile-networking, the upgrade to trixie is going through without errors related to any conflict between these two packages. I'll try to share upgrade's report via a separate mail, I guess having an attachment AND a link in a single mail triggers BTS' spam filter... OTOH, it's my fault that I specified kde-config-mobile-networking in plasma-mobile's Breaks, but not in the Replaces. This is going to be fixed as soon as next upgrade for plasma-mobile [1] gets reviewed and pushed to the archive. Kind regards Marco [1]https://salsa.debian.org/qt-kde-team/kde/plasma-mobile/-/merge_requests/14
Bug#1103636: kdeconnect does not work anymore after upgrade to trixie
Hi, as Soren wrote, this is likely a firewall-related issue: you'll like to check [1] about this. Kind regards Marco [1]https://wikisandbox.kde.org/KDEConnect#I_have_two_devices_running_KDE_Connect_on_the_same_network,_but_they_can't_see_each_other
Bug#1076569: When called for dh-sequence-kf6 (or --with=kf6) CMAKE Qt6 should be enforced
Tags: wontfix Severity: important thanks Hi, I took the freedom to discuss this bug in the #debian-qt-kde channel: I noticed such a flag was never set in pkg-kde-tools in the past [1], nor with KDE4, nor for KF5, then I don't get the reason KF6 should be different. It's agreed that defining the right version of build-dependencies is up to upstream developers, not to package maintainers. In support of this, there is not a single way to define such a requirement: I've looked through some packages, most of them [2][3][4][5][6] uses QT_MIN_VERSION to define requirement for a Qt library version. When looking for a project using QT_MAJOR_VERSION variable, I found krecorder: as for the comment in [7], QT_MAJOR_VERSION is defined automatically by ECM, then there's no need to force it at build-time. Even better, when developers are fine with the state of their app with new Qt version, they tend [8] to drop any logic based on QT_MAJOR_VERSION and simply hardcode the QtX they're targeting. Downgrading bug severity because pkg-kde-tools does not violate Debian policy nor is unsuitable for release in its actual state.
