Bug#1057105: dolphin: Dolphin File Explorer Selects Multiple Folders When Opening One Folder
Package: dolphin Version: 4:22.12.3-1 Severity: minor Tags: a11y X-Debbugs-Cc: luc...@diplomats.com Dear Maintainer, Dolphin File Explorer Selects Multiple Folders When Opening One Folder Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the Dolphin File Explorer. 2. Navigate to a directory containing multiple folders. 3. Without pressing the Shift key, open a single folder. Observed Result: When opening a single folder, sporadically, multiple folders above it in the list get selected, despite not pressing the Shift key. This issue occurs intermittently and persists across all viewing modes. A screenshot of the error is attached as there is no available backtrace. Expected Result: Opening a single folder should not cause the selection of other folders above it in the view unless the Shift key is intentionally pressed to select multiple items simultaneously. Bug#1057106: kinfocenter: Loading Failure in KInfoCenter when Accessing "Firmware Security" under "Devices"
Package: kinfocenter Version: 4:5.27.5-2 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: luc...@diplomats.com Dear Maintainer, Loading Failure in KInfoCenter when Accessing "Firmware Security" under "Devices" Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open KInfoCenter (Infozentrum). 2. Navigate to "Devices" and select "Firmware Security". Observed Result: Upon selecting "Firmware Security", the loading icon spins indefinitely without loading any information. Although it can be closed by clicking the 'X' button, the application seems to have crashed, persistently consuming memory and running in the background. It requires manual termination via the System Monitor. This issue is highly disruptive to normal system usage. Expected Result: Accessing "Firmware Security" within KInfoCenter should load the relevant information promptly without causing the application to crash or hang indefinitely. Terminating the process manually through the System Monitor should not be necessary for normal operation. Bug#1057172: baloo-kf5: Baloo Service Crashes After Enabling 'Index File Contents' Option
Package: baloo-kf5 Version: 5.103.0-2 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: luc...@diplomats.com Dear Maintainer, Description: Enabling the 'Index file contents' option in the Baloo service leads to sporadic crashes. Steps to Reproduce: Access the Baloo settings. Enable the 'Index file contents' option. Observed Behavior: After enabling the 'Index file contents' option, the Baloo service crashes sporadically. The crash doesn't follow a consistent pattern and occurs unpredictably. Below, I've included the debug information from DrKonqi for further analysis. Additional Information: The system utilizes the BtrFS and XFS file systems. This information is provided in case the choice of file systems might be relevant to the issue. Expected Behavior: Enabling the 'Index file contents' option should not cause the Baloo service to crash. The service should function reliably and conduct the indexing of file contents as intended. Bug#1095577: Thin Line Gap at Bottom in Fullscreen Mode
Package: plasma-discover Version: 5.27.5-2 Severity: minor X-Debbugs-Cc: luc...@diplomats.com Dear Maintainer, What led up to the situation? When launching Plasma Discover and switching to fullscreen mode, a thin line or gap appears at the bottom of the screen. This issue occurs only in Discover – other KDE applications like Dolphin, Firefox, and Konsole do not exhibit this behavior. The issue persists regardless of resolution or scaling settings. What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Restarted KWin (kwin_x11 --replace &) → Issue persists Tried different scaling settings (100%, 125%, 150%) → No change Tested both proprietary and open-source GPU drivers → Issue remains Ran Discover with debug logging (QT_LOGGING_RULES="*=true" plasma-discover) → No relevant error messages What was the outcome of this action? The issue remained in all tests, indicating that it is not related to graphics drivers or display scaling. The thin line is visible only in Discover, not in other KDE applications. What outcome did you expect instead? Plasma Discover should behave like other KDE applications in fullscreen mode, without any visible line or gap at the bottom. Bug#1101759: Restore single-click as default in KDE Plasma – double-click breaks usability and accessibility
Package: plasma-desktop Version: 6.2.3-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch upstream usability accessibility A11y Dear Maintainer, What led up to the situation? After upgrading to KDE Plasma 6.2.3 in Debian Unstable (Sid), I noticed that the default click behavior in Dolphin and other KDE components had changed from single-click to double-click to open files and folders. What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I went into System Settings → General Behavior → Click behavior and manually switched it back to single-click. However, I then experienced side effects: specifically, the behavior for selecting multiple files in Dolphin became inconsistent and less usable. Selecting files became awkward compared to the previous Plasma 5 behavior. What was the outcome of this action? Although I restored the single-click behavior, the file selection behavior changed in an unintuitive way. I could no longer interact with multiple files or folders the same way as before. This caused a usability regression and slowed down my normal file management workflow. What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the previous KDE behavior: single-click by default, with intuitive and consistent multi-selection in Dolphin. I expected Debian to maintain the longstanding, well-functioning KDE default that worked for many years and was widely preferred by users. Additional notes: This change also introduces accessibility issues. Double-clicking is physically harder for users with motor impairments, tremors, arthritis, or those using assistive devices like head pointers or trackballs. Many devices and interfaces (e.g. touchscreens, Plasma Mobile, browsers) follow a single-click logic by design. The new upstream default breaks this consistency. Furthermore, KDE community feedback appears to have been ignored or even suppressed during this change. Several community polls showed a clear preference (over 70%) for single-click to remain the default. This was disregarded without strong justification. I request that Debian consider restoring single-click as the default for KDE Plasma in its packaging, or at least provide a configuration that avoids the selection inconsistencies in Dolphin when users switch back manually. Thank you for your work and consideration. Best regards, Lucy OpenPGP_0x6E889797125BB894.asc Description: OpenPGP public key OpenPGP_signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
