Bug#672564: kde-window-manager: KWin leaks pixmaps when using XRender and Box Switch
Package: kde-window-manager Version: 4:4.7.4-2+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, The problem seems to have occured when I updated some qt4 libs to 4.8.1 (from 4.7.4). To reproduce set "Desktop Effects" to "XRender" then set "Effect for window switching" to "Box Switch" play a video with mplayer have a few applications open such as Iceweasel etc then press "Alt+Tab a few times. Switching should be very slow and if you're running "xrestop" you will see "kwin" pixmaps increase in size everytime you alt tab significantly (about 23MiB per switch) it will also cause some "XErrors" in "xrestop" whatever those happen to be. Using "No Effect" for "Effect for window switching" stops this problem occuring. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (750, 'stable'), (600, 'unstable'), (550, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kde-window-manager depends on: ii kde-runtime 4:4.7.4-2 ii kde-style-oxygen 4:4.7.4-2+b1 ii libc6 2.13-32 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.11.2-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.8-2 ii libkcmutils4 4:4.7.4-4 ii libkdecorations4 4:4.7.4-2+b1 ii libkdecore5 4:4.7.4-4 ii libkdeui5 4:4.7.4-4 ii libkephal4abi14:4.7.4-2+b1 ii libkio5 4:4.7.4-4 ii libknewstuff3-4 4:4.7.4-4 ii libkwineffects1abi2 4:4.7.4-2+b1 ii libkworkspace44:4.7.4-2+b1 ii libplasma34:4.7.4-4 ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.8.1-1 ii libqt4-script 4:4.8.1-1 ii libqt4-xml4:4.8.1-1 ii libqtcore44:4.8.1-1 ii libqtgui4 4:4.8.1-1 ii libsm62:1.2.1-2 ii libstdc++64.7.0-7 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.99.901-2 ii libxcomposite11:0.4.3-2 ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.13-1 ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.3-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.1-2 ii libxfixes31:5.0-4 ii libxrandr22:1.3.2-2 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.7-1 ii perl 5.14.2-9 kde-window-manager recommends no packages. kde-window-manager suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: Bug#762577: phonon-backend-gstreamer: 4:4.8.0-1 update broke device list in phonon
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by pushing but the scenario I see is the problem that someone may install phonon-backend-gstreamer expecting it to work, but since it has no dependancy on either gstreamer1.0-alsa or gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio the would not be able to switch devices with Phonon because it requires either package to see devices. That's why I am suggesting phonon-backend-gstreamer should have an or dependency on both packages. Bug#723520: Info received (Bug#723520: kmix: KMix 4.3 on KDE 4.10.5 leaks memory)
Hi, I've applied the following patches from the upstream bug report linked in this bug report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309464). To the source package of the current version: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdemultimedia/kmix/repository/revisions/09aabd4a344e045eb3a554f47fb7f1f6b43cf2ac/diff.diff https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdemultimedia/kmix/repository/revisions/8a4a135e2885ede8848bbc961632ab65cf8239ee/diff.diff https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdemultimedia/kmix/repository/revisions/6edddf7c8e92bb499cb60fdee53622cab326f334/diff.diff After applying these patches and rebuilding I am no longer having memory leaks with KMix. Bug#672564: kde-window-manager: KWin leaks pixmaps when using XRender and Box Switch
Seems it's worse than I thought and KWin will leak regardless of if you use Box Switch or not over time, really bad bug. It still is limited to XRender as far as I can tell.
Bug#672564: kde-window-manager: KWin leaks pixmaps when using XRender and Box Switch
Seems the memory leak is worse using qtcurve than the default oxygen theme. Doing alt tab with XRender on oxygen results in a slower leak and extremely high cpu usage, when continually using alt tab.
Bug#672564: kde-window-manager: KWin leaks pixmaps when using XRender and Box Switch
I had a talk with a person in the kde irc channel (thank you said person) this is apparently fixed in version 4.8 of kwin, so I hope that version can be pushed soon. For anyone having trouble in the mean time please do the following: 1. Edit/Create /etc/environment 2. Add "QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native" without the quotes 3. Bug#679210: kmix: KMix tray pop up shows more than one mixer
Just a follow up, I found this bug is only triggers when something other than the "Event Sounds" Slider is listed first in "Playback Streams". So to reproduce: 1. Play an audio source with whatever program you wish (leave it playing). 2. Close KMix 3. Reopen KMix 4. Click the tray icon and there should be two mixers displayed in the popup Kitty On 27 June 2012 18:06, Kitty wrote: > Package: kmix > Version: 4:4.8.4-1 > Severity: important > > Dear Maintainer, > > After upgrading some packages KMix now has two volume sliders in popup shown > when > clicking the tray icon.
