Bug#683481: dolphin: Folder names in folder view are truncated (incomplete)

2012-08-01 Thread Dan
Package: dolphin
Version: 4:4.8.4-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

dolphin's folder vew truncates the folder names making it impossible to use
this tree view to browse deeply nested folders.

To reproduce simply navigate into a nested folder structure (e.g., 6+ levels)
and the deeper folder names will start to be truncated even if enough space for
display is allocated (the horizontal scroll bar works). Normally (in previous
versions of dolphin) the folder names would not be truncated but displayed in
full.

Thank you,
Dan

Fresh install with the default kde-desktop task, the SDDM doesn't show a

No. not related to that upgrade. But this version is broken:

ii libqt3-mt3:3.3.8b-1 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v

Please explain?

Before upgrade:
ii kdelibs4c2a3.5.8.dfsg.1-7 core libraries and binaries for all
KDE appl

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/cleanup$ nm -D /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4 | grep stat64

000c0550 T __fxstat64
000c05b0 T __lxstat64
000c04f0 T __xstat64

Same file in 3.5.9.dfsg.1-2:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/t/usr/lib$ nm -D libkdecore.so.4 | grep stat64
 U fstat64
 U lstat64
 U stat64

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/t/usr/lib$ nm -D /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3 | grep stat64

 U __lxstat64
 U __xstat64
00644010 T fstat64
00644020 T lstat64
00644030 T stat64

So at the same time libqt3-mt quit providing weak symbol aliases,
libkdecore.so.4 quit using the glibc symbols directly. That's why
going back to 3.5.8.dfsg.1-7 fixes the problem even without upgrading
libqt3-mt.

Which leads to the question - what happened in both these packages?

I presume, then, that you don't have a via82xx- or emu10k1-driven card?

I doubt this is an alsa-lib issue. If the answer to the above question is "no,
neither", then the bug is really
in the alsa-driver source package (generating the alsa-base binary). In
debian/alsa-base.modprobe we see
that via82xx- and emu10k1-driven (but not other) cards already load snd-seq,
which provides /dev/sequencer.

Resolved in Ubuntu (Oct 2006) by loading snd-seq unconditionally:
install snd /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd && { /sbin/modprobe -Qb snd-seq
; }

Bug#498088: kmix: does not save volume level, sound always 0%

2008-09-06 Thread Dan Craciun
Package: kmix
Version: 4:3.5.9-2
Severity: important

I am using Debian Lenny, kernel 2.6.24, KDE 3.5.9 with all the updates to
date. The problem in KMix
is that it doesn't save the volume level, although the volume is always at
maximum (I set it with
alsamixer). The volume is showed always at 0%, and I can't change it using
any of the KMix controls
like PCM, Front or Master. Changing volume from inside applications works,
and the same is for
alsamixer.

I noticed that if I compile from source the alsa drivers from the official
website, KMix starts to
work again, so I'm thinking it's probably a configuration file not
configured properly, or something
similar. As far as I remember, I encountered this problem in alsa 1.0.14 for
the first time (but
maybe it's just because I bought a new motherboard). I wasn't sure whether I
should report this bug
for a KDE package rather than alsa, since the problem actually seems to be
in some ALSA config.

Anyway, here are my hardware specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz
1 GB DDRAM2
Motherboard Asus P5B-E ICH8R (I think it uses the hda-intel driver for
sound)

Bug#511176: kspread chokes on Fibonacci sequence

2009-01-07 Thread Dan Greene
Package: kspread
Version: 1:1.6.3-7
Severity: normal

To reproduce the problem, do the following:
1. Create a new blank spreadsheet.
2. Put 1 in both cells A1 and A2.
3. In cell A3, put =A1+A2.
4. With cell A3 highlighted, click on the dot in the lower right hand corner
and of the cell and drag it down to cell A50.

Expected result: The first 50 terms of the Fibonacci sequence should be
calculated immediately and displayed in the cells.

Actual result: The program appears to freeze while eating CPU time and
leaking memory. At this point, kspread must be forced to terminate.

A few more notes:
1. If you copy the formula (as done in step 4) in smaller amounts, the bug
is not observed and the Fibonacci sequence is visible (overflows aside).
2. However, if you then delete cell A3, kspread appears to freeze again.

Bug#530419: kwalletmanager: passwords with quotes in their name don't export/import

2009-05-24 Thread Dan Torop
Package: kwalletmanager
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

To replicate:
1) execute "kwalletmanager"
2) click on wallet icon in notification area
3) choose "File > New Wallet..." from KDE Wallet Manager window's menu bar
4) name wallet "test" and click OK
5) choose password "test" and choose "Create"
6) expand "Passwords" folder
7) right-click "Passwords" sub-folder and choose "New"
8) in dialog enter (with doublequotes): this "is" test
9) from file menu choose "Export..." and export to /tmp/test.xml
10) examine test.xml, it should have improperly quoted attribute
in line 5's password node:

11) from file menu choose "Import XML..." and choose /tmp/test.xml
12) should see dialog "Error reading XML file 'file:///tmp/test.xml' for input"

>From looking at kdeutils-4.2.2/kwallet/kwalleteditor.cpp:1101 it looks like
>the XML attributes are encoded via Qt::escape which will escape <, >, and &
>but not double-quotes.

Bug#266961: arts: looks good but users can't figure out where the meat and potatoes are

2004-08-19 Thread Dan Jacobson
Package: arts
Version: 1.2.3-1

Say in aptitude, we see this package named arts. Its description looks
good. We install it. We do dlocate -L arts, and see not only is there
no programs to do music, there is no documentation saying where the
meat and potatoes are.

Bug#788657: message every upgrade

2015-06-14 Thread 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson
In fact it should have a dialog,
"The group is no longer used"
1. find all files with it and offer to remove it
2. just remove it
3. do nothing, will remind next upgrade
4. don't warn me again.

Bug#873275: always segfaults at start due to QSslSocket

2017-08-26 Thread 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson
Glad to have found the bug for you early.

I only use qgis offline, so was dismayed that I couldn't even start it
even if never planning to use SSL over the network.

I mean even researchers in some offline arctic lab will find the copy of
qgis they brought with them is unusable even without ever having
attempted to make a http, (not even https) connection.

There should be some fallback mode available.
