Bug#1070084: libkpimgapi-data: KAddressBook, and possibly related programs, fail to integrate with Google
Package: libkpimgapi-data Version: 22.12.3-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: dan...@melameth.com Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I'm new to Linux, and, with the popularity of Gmail and related, I attempted to configure KAddressBook to access my Gmail Contacts, but it did not work. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I attempted to Add a New Address Book using Google Groupware, but it does not work. * What was the outcome of this action? I was unable to use the program as intended. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the program to integrate with my Gmail Contacts, much like KOrganizer integrates with my Gmail Calendar. This bug appears to be resolved in newer versions of the program; some details may be found at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446580 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439285. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.6.15-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled -- no debconf information

Bug#1070084: libkpimgapi-data: KAddressBook, and possibly related programs, fail to integrate with Google
Hi Daniel, this is a known problem as Google deprecated the Contacts API and replaced it with the People API. The KDE PIM in unstable, testing and stable is too old to support the People API which was added for 23.04. The only option to fix this is to update the entire KDE PIM stack (roughly 50 packages) to 23.04 or later. However, this is sadly not possible right now. I cannot give you a timeline when this is going to happen. -- Med vänliga hälsningar Patrick Franz

I realize this bug has been in place for quite a while, but I wasn't sure if an official bug report was needed to help get it resolved more timely as, yes, all releases are affected.
