Bug#1053615: partitionmanager: no device found
Package: partitionmanager Version: 22.12.3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, When opening partitionmanager, it asks for the root password to retrieve all disk devices. Then is scan for devices, but find nothing. gparted correctly shows all disks (and their partition). The log is not very verbose: $ partitionmanager Loaded backend plugin: "pmsfdiskbackendplugin" "Using backend plugin: pmsfdiskbackendplugin (1)" "Scanning devices..." "Scan finished." Recommends dependencies are not installed, but I still have dosfstools and ntfs-3g (I only have ext4 and ntfs partitions across all disks). Details as follows. Steps to Reproduce: --- 1) While Dolphin's running, select the "Network" shortcut in the "Places" panel. 2) Select "Add Network Folder" from the central region of the Dolphin window. 3) Select the option "Secure shell (ssh)" in the "Network Folder Wizard" and click "next". 4) Enter the relevent connection information, as follows: 4.1) Set "Name" to an arbetrary value to name this connection. 4.2) Set the "User" field to one's username on the FreeBSD system. 4.3) Set the "Server" field as the IP address of the server. 4.4) Leave "Port" as-is (in my configuartion, anyway, as ssh is running on 22) 4.5) Set "Protocol" to "fish" 4.6) Set "Folder" to one's home directory on the server (/usr/home/$name) 5) Click "Save & Connect" Expected Result: Dolphin should open a new window displaying the contents of the user's directory on the FreeBSD server. Actual Result: -- The error message "Unable to connect to server. Please check your settings and try again." Additional information: --- * The FreeBSD box is version 9.1, and the laptop I'm ssh-ing from is running Debian testing. * I can successfully ssh the FreeBSD box using the console ssh command, thus: ssh -l Username ipaddress * Dolphin will ssh to another Debian server without any problems, using the above methods. * If I try to connect to the FreeBSD box via Dolphin by typing "fish://username@ipaddress/usr/home/username/" into its address bar, dolphin displays "Could not enter folder fish://username@ipaddress/usr/home/username" * The FreeBSD installation is freshly installed (in the last hour), is up-to-date and is on my LAN. There is currently no firewall or other security daemons running on it. * No errors are reported in syslog for Dolphin and no errors are reported in the FreeBSD box's syslog, either. This issue has me puzzled, but I'm certain that it's not a configuration issue with the FreeBSD box, since ssh from the command line works perfectly. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.10-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages dolphin depends on: ii kde-runtime 4:4.10.5-1 ii libc6 2.17-92 ii libkactivities6 4:4.10.5-1 ii libkcmutils44:4.10.5-1 ii libkdecore5 4:4.10.5-1 ii libkdeui5 4:4.10.5-1 ii libkfile4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libkio5 4:4.10.5-1 ii libknewstuff3-4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libkonq5abi14:4.10.5-1 ii libkparts4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libnepomukcore4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libnepomukwidgets4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libphonon4 4:4.6.0.0-3 ii libplasma3 4:4.10.5-1 ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.8.5+dfsg-3 ii libqt4-xml 4:4.8.5+dfsg-3 ii libqtcore4 4:4.8.5+dfsg-3 ii libqtgui4 4:4.8.5+dfsg-3 ii libsolid4 4:4.10.5-1 ii libsoprano4 2.9.2+dfsg.1-4 ii libstdc++6 4.8.1-2 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.8-1 ii phonon 4:4.6.0.0-3 Versions of packages dolphin recommends: pn ruby Versions of packages dolphin suggests: pn kdesdk-dolphin-plugins -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- kFreeBSD has been removed from Debian ports: https://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2023/07/msg3.html cu Adrian--- End Message ---

It makes determineNumberOfCPUs work on kfreebsd. Note1: This is more relevant than it seems. I recall seeing some build system (not sure if qtwebkit-opensource-src itself or something else) spawning an unlimited offspring of gcc processes (~50) when this routine fails. Note2: This is the old version of the patch for qtwebkit-opensource-src 5.5.1+dfsg-2. A slightly different version has already been sent upstream.
