Package: okular
Version: 4:21.08.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After updating my system, Okular segfaults upon opening a specific pdf file. I
have previously viewed it using okular (not sure exactly which version was
previously installed) -- and can still view it with zathura -- without incident.

I can provide the offending file, though I would prefer to do so off-list.

Backtrace:

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate
***

   * What led up to the situation?
It hapens everytime I want to open a PDF file digitally signed by
 others or by me.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Install another package like evince or open the PDF with a browser
 (Chrome). It worked.
   * Further information:
   a) I include the segfault trace below
   b) From the trace I can see that package libpkcs11-fnmtdnie may be
involved. However other applications from bulls-eye work fine in case they
use linpkcs-fnmtdnie
   c) Information from linpkcs-fnmtdnie:
   ii configuradorfnmt 1.0.1-0
   ii libpkcs11-fnmtdnie1.6.1

Please bring the debian-packaged version up to date. :)
Thanks in advance for the hard work!

Bug#894892: libkscreenlocker5: The file "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kcheckpass" is NOT existent in the stable package.

2023-08-11 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Package: libkscreenlocker5
Followup-For: Bug #894892

Dear Maintainer,

I discovered, that in the bookworm repo in the package libscreenlocker5, the
mentioned file "kcheckpass" is not existent. Thus the above workaround does not
work.

I also tried to manually copy the file from bullseye with no success and
suppose, kcheckpass from bullseye is incompatible with bookworm. Please repack
the lib with the missing file.

Thank you very much.

Best regards

Hans

The "kcheckpass"-binary was removed from kscreenlocker over a year ago,
because it was obsolete.
Hence, distributions cannot ship the binary as it is not built anymore.

If you cannot unlock your screen, a simple "It doesn't work" is
unfortunately not sufficient to debug it. The first thing you can do is to
create a new user on your system and try to unlock the screen with that
user.
That will tell you whether something is wrong with the system or just
with your default user.

Bug#1043424: plasma-desktop: Missing dependency on pipewire breaks screen sharing under Wayland

pipewire: expected, not the default sound subsystem for bookworm.

Screen sharing under KDE uses pipewire. That makes KDE dependent on
pipewire, regardless of what the default is. Default desktop environment
is Gnome, that doesn't mean other environments shouldn't install their
dependencies.
