Bug#908108: libkf5mailimporter: flaky autopkgtest different failures in different runs
Source: libkf5mailimporter Version: 4:17.12.3-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-CC: debian...@lists.debian.org User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: flaky Dear maintainers, With a recent upload of glibc the autopkgtest of libkf5mailimporter started to fail when run in testing. The test was retried and failed again, but this time on a different error. The third time it passed. I copied the output below. Could you please investigate and make your autopkgtest more robust? Please contact me if you need help and you think I can provide that (I am not subscribed to this bug). If this flakiness can't really be fixed, consider setting the "flaky" restriction (see https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest/raw/master/doc/README.package-tests.rst). Recent discussion of gating migration by autopkgtests on debian-devel [1] noted that if this is going to work, and in particular if we are going to *block* migration when it causes autopkgtest regressions rather than merely delaying it, intermittent autopkgtest failures are likely to have to be considered RC due to their impact on the tested package's dependencies; for now I've filed it as important. glibc and abi-compliance-checker break multiple KDE autopkgtests
Dear glibc, abi-compliance-checker and Qt/KDE maintainers, With recent upload of glibc and abi-compliance-checker the autopkgtest of libkf5calendarsupport, kf5-kdepim-apps-libs and akonadi-calendar started to fail when run in testing with either glibc or abi-compliance-checker from unstable. These autopkgtests all run abi-compliance-checker and fail on it. Currently these regressions are contributing to the delay of the migration of glibc [1] and abi-compliance-checker [2] to testing. Could you please help to investigate the situation? Normally I would file bugs but because the similarity between the packages that fail for glibc and abi-compliance-checker and the fact that three packages fail I fell back to this e-mail, as it seems to be too much coincidence. Feel free to ask help about the CI side of things from the Debian-CI team (in CC). More information about this e-mail can be found on https://wiki.debian.org/ContinuousIntegration/RegressionEmailInformation Paul [1] https://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=glibc [2] https://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=abi-compliance-checker signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

It'd be useful for the abi-compliance-checker test to actually output error messages, https://ci.debian.net/data/autopkgtest/testing/amd64/k/kf5-kdepim-apps-libs/944759/log.gz it not very talkative :) On Linux, the glibc 2.27-6 change only contains two additional static functions, so at best it'd be an issue with the toolchain. Ah, right. They seem to only point at c++ headers, so it'd rather be a g++ issue? Samuel

Does this mean that libc++-8-dev is breaking the ABI of the Qt/KDE packages? Luckily libc++-8-dev will not migrate to testing due to https://bugs.debian.org/714686 Does it need a "Breaks" then? Does anybody know why libc++-8-dev is installed when glibc or abi-compliance-checker come from unstable? It seems that package is providing something that in testing is provided by libc++-dev (Or somewhere else in the dependency chain this goes "wrong" and leads to this outcome). This is maybe also the reason why the autopkgtest of these packages fail already longer in unstable. Apparently the wrong libc++*-dev package gets installed. Paul PS to all: if we determine how this goes wrong and if I can't get the CI framework to do the right thing and this is outside of glibc and abi-compliance-checker, I'll ask the migration software to ignore these failures. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Actually due to a bug in the migration process this package migrated to testing on 2018-08-26 despite the RC bug. It has been removed from testing during last night. > Does anybody know why libc++-8-dev is installed when glibc or > abi-compliance-checker come from unstable? I have been able to install libc++-dev along glibc 2.27-6, so I wonder if it is not just a matter of regenerating the testing chroot following the libc++-8-dev removal from testing. Bug#908079: Buster: No window title bars in KDE?

Bug#908095: Buster: Kwrite crashes while opening a file
Hello, just found your report and tried to reproduce the crash. First I assume you copied this text from the crash reporting window? This information would be way more readable if you would install the debug symbols for the executable and all the shared objects in the crashing stack. Like described here: https://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace In your case this would be: kwrite-dbgsym libqt5core5a-dbgsym libqt5gui5-dbgsym libqt5core5a-dbgsym libqt5widgets5-dbgsym libkf5widgetsaddons5-dbgsym libkf5configwidgets5-dbgsym libkf5texteditor5-dbgsym libkf5parts5-dbgsym Then you could press the reload button in the crash reporting window and it should give a better readable stack. (That way more likely to attract some maintainer.) Found it still interesting and came just to the location below, with the least 3 bytes of each frame matching up to your stack trace, except the last frame. But this still only if I used some unicode test files. I used https://www.w3.org/2001/06/utf-8-test/UTF-8-demo.html I think the crash happens in the lambda function appendRun, in case continuationFrom gets a value different to -1. Unfortunately my test file does not get me that far to the crash. Therefore I think your file contains a really special case of some direction changes. Therefore you probably can provide that file or a copy stripped down to the least causing kwrite to crash? Kind regards, Bernhard (gdb) list 363 364 auto appendRun = [&](int runEnd) { 365 if (runEnd < runStart) 366 return; 367 bool isContinuation = false; 368 if (continuationFrom != -1) { 369 runs[continuationFrom].continuation = runs.size(); 370 isContinuation = true; 371 } else if (lastRunWithContent != -1 && level == runs.at(lastRunWithContent).level) { 372 runs[lastRunWithContent].continuation = runs.size(); 373 isContinuation = true; 374 } 375 if (runHasContent) 376 lastRunWithContent = runs.size(); 377 BIDI_DEBUG() << " appending run start/end" << runStart << runEnd << "level" << level; 378 runs.append({ runStart, runEnd, -1, level, isContinuation, runHasContent }); 379 runHasContent = false; 380 runStart = runEnd + 1; 381 continuationFrom = -1; 382 }; Below we are not yet there, unfortunately we jump here to 0x76d45400 instead to continue to 0x76d45376: Thread 1 "kwrite" hit Breakpoint 12, 0x76d45363 in (anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithmoperator()(int) const (__closure=__closure@entry=0x7fff7f80, runEnd=runEnd@entry=85) at text/qtextengine.cpp:368 368 if (continuationFrom != -1) { 1: x/i $pc => 0x76d45363 <(anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithmoperator()(int) const+51>: je 0x76d45400 <(anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithmoperator()(int) const+208> (gdb) bt #0 0x76d45363 in (anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithmoperator()(int) const (__closure=__closure@entry=0x7fff7f80, runEnd=runEnd@entry=85) at text/qtextengine.cpp:368 #1 0x76d4e05f in (anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithm::generateDirectionalRuns (runs=..., isolatePairs=..., this=0x7fff7f60) at text/qtextengine.cpp:516 #2 (anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithm::resolveExplicitLevels (runs=..., this=0x7fff7f60) at text/qtextengine.cpp:533 #3 (anonymous namespace)::QBidiAlgorithm::process (this=0x7fff7f60) at text/qtextengine.cpp:1065 #4 QTextEngine::itemize (this=0x55b28990) at text/qtextengine.cpp:2031 #5 0x76d5699c in QTextLayout::beginLayout (this=this@entry=0x563756f0) at text/qtextlayout.cpp:648 #6 0x77d8d3c6 in KateRenderer::layoutLine (this=0x561c2310, lineLayout=..., maxwidth=945, cacheLayout=) at ./src/render/katerenderer.cpp:1014 #7 0x77d92881 in KateLayoutCache::line (this=this@entry=0x55973140, realLine=realLine@entry=5, virtualLine=virtualLine@entry=5) at /usr/include/c++/8/bits/atomic_base.h:295 #8 0x77d93b21 in KateLayoutCache::updateViewCache (this=this@entry=0x55973140, startPos=..., newViewLineCount=newViewLineCount@entry=47, viewLinesScrolled=viewLinesScrolled@entry=0) at ./src/render/katelayoutcache.cpp:282 #9 0x77dd9f2a in KateViewInternal::doUpdateView (this=this@entry=0x55a931c0, changed=, changed@entry=true, viewLinesScrolled=viewLinesScrolled@entry=0) at ./src/include/ktexteditor/cursor.h:98 #10 0x77dda214 in KateViewInternal::updateView (this=0x55a931c0, changed=changed@entry=true, viewLinesScrolled=viewLinesScrolled@entry=0) at ./src/view/kateviewinternal.cpp:609 #11 0x77dc4196 in KTextEditor::ViewPrivate::updateView (this=0x55994ba0, changed=changed@entry=true) at ./src/view/kateview.cpp:2042
Bug#908079: Buster: No window title bars in KDE?
Hello, so you are running wayland or xorg? Depending on that I would exptect you should at least have either kwin-wayland or kwin-x11 installed. Or you have configured another window manager somehow? But then we also need some more information. Kind regards, Bernhard
Bug#908079: Buster: No window title bars in KDE?
Also: # dpkg -S kwin_x11 dpkg-query: no path found matching pattern *kwin_x11* Thanks

I installed Buster (and KDE) about a week ago and when I opened KDE it was pretty screwed up: no task bar, missing apps, etc. I then installed LXDE and LXQT for testing purposes and because I needed a working DE, currently I use LXDE (and planning to move back to KDE when possible as I miss some things). Could my LXDE installation somehow interfere with KDE? Regards,
