Bug#815670: marked as done (kalarm: Some KDE applications do not autorstart properly)
Your message dated Thu, 04 Jan 2018 00:17:43 +0100 with message-id <1998184.A2ug4xbGee@tuxin> and subject line Re: Bug#815670: kalarm: Some KDE applications do not autorstart properly has caused the Debian Bug report #815670, regarding kalarm: Some KDE applications do not autorstart properly to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 815670: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=815670 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: kalarm Version: 4:4.14.10-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I am having trouble with some KDE applications and their start-up process. After reporting a KDE bug they told me it was likely to be a Debian issue. I agrre that it could very well be the case, if so more likely a missing dependency or incorrect minimum version dependency on some KDE packages. The bug report starts as a more specific problem but we eventually figured out it'a wider issue. We came down to this error message as the culprit: kalarmautostart(14710) AutostartApp::slotAutostart: No command line The full bug report can be found here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=358027 I am tagging this as a grave bug because if the applications are supposed to be automatically run at login and they aren't it could render them unusable to a normal user. Luckily I have the knowledge to set up some scripts to deal with it in my own system. This is probably a wider KDE issue, not only kdepim's or kalarm's so let me know if this should be reported elsewhere and if I can help with further information or testing. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages kalarm depends on: ii kde-runtime 4:15.08.3-1+b1 ii kdepim-runtime 4:4.14.10-2 ii kdepimlibs-kio-plugins 4:4.14.10-1 ii libakonadi-contact4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libakonadi-kde4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libakonadi-kmime4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libc6 2.21-9 ii libgcc1 1:5.3.1-8 ii libkabc44:4.14.10-1 ii libkalarmcal2 4:4.14.10-1 ii libkcalcore44:4.14.10-1 ii libkcalutils4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libkdecore5 4:4.14.14-1+b1 ii libkdepim4 4:4.14.10-2 ii libkdeui5 4:4.14.14-1+b1 ii libkholidays4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libkio5 4:4.14.14-1+b1 ii libkmime4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libkpimidentities4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libkpimutils4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libmailtransport4 4:4.14.10-1 ii libphonon4 4:4.8.3-2 ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.8.7+dfsg-6 ii libqt4-network 4:4.8.7+dfsg-6 ii libqtcore4 4:4.8.7+dfsg-6 ii libqtgui4 4:4.8.7+dfsg-6 ii libstdc++6 5.3.1-8 ii libx11-62:1.6.3-1 ii perl5.22.1-7 ii phonon 4:4.8.3-2 kalarm recommends no packages. Bug#886245: Removed package(s) from unstable
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable: ksudoku | 4:16.08.2-1+b1 | armel, armhf --- Reason --- ROM; does not support Desktop OpenGL -- Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug. The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is really needed, please contact them if this should be the case. Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically removed from the Bug Tracking System. There are few publich headers of it that include libssl headers, so that warrants the dependency in the -dev package -- but they are not used a lot, so it will not cause a dependency on that on the majority (if not all) of packages that build using kdelibs4support (also almost all the kde-related packages are built using --as-needed). Sorry to be stupid but: If I understand, the include exported libkf5kdelibs4support-dev by require the sll headers because some of them are included but are not used by the packages itself. Right? But then other packages build using kdelibs4supportpackage-dev should then depend on libsll1.0.0 if they really use the headers requiring ssl includes and sll API and not only macros which is not the case as shown via apt-rdepends in original report. So I still wonder if this should be libsll1.0-dev or libssl-dev. And in any case this should be reworked for the ssl 1.1 transition as mentioned already. Nevermind -- eric

Right? No, there are parts of kdelibs4support that use OpenSSL, but because of its obnoxious license then it is not common for code using OpenSSL to link directly to it. > But then other packages build using kdelibs4supportpackage-dev should > then depend on libsll1.0.0 if they really use the headers requiring ssl > includes and sll API and not only macros As I wrote above, the usage of the SSL-using parts in kdelibs4support is not common; indeed, if anything links to kdelibs4support and uses those parts, then it must use libssl1.0-dev (same as kdelibs4support to avoid API mismatches), which is a dependency in our -dev. > which is not the case as shown via apt-rdepends in original report. There is no such "libssl1.0.0" in Debian, so you indeed get almost no packages depending on it. The library for libssl1.0-dev is libssl1.0.2, and you can verify there are still many packages depending on it. -- Pino Toscano signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#886322: libkf5kdelibs4support-dev: Should libkf5kdelibs4support-dev still depend on libssl1.0-dev
On 01/04/2018 03:13 PM, Pino Toscano wrote: Firrst thanks for taking time to respond to my questions... No, there are parts of kdelibs4support that use OpenSSL, but because of its obnoxious license then it is not common for code using OpenSSL to link directly to it. It do not follow the idea behind link vs package dependency (except due to automatic dependency creating tools). Maybe via dlopen then but this should have a dependency nevertheless or the dlopen will fail and if package expects it... So If this is the case some dependencies are missing because removing libkf5kdelibs4support-dev enable to remove libsll1.0-dev and then dependency on libsll1.0.2 should be explicit... Bug#882833: (no subject)
I've also had issues with kontact and my .xsession-errors contained the following lines: org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: database server stopped unexpectedly org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: stderr: "mysqld: [ERROR] Could not open required defaults file: $HOME/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf\nmysqld: [ERROR] Fatal error in defaults hand Where $HOME and $USER are substitution of my own to mask my home directory and username. I've noticed some DENIED lines in dmesg that seem related: audit: type=1400 audit(1515103889.923:49): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="/ usr/sbin/mysqld" name="$HOME/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf" pid=2655 comm="mysqld" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=1000 == Successful attempt == Trying to launch the mysqld command mentioned in .xsession-errors but using mysqld- akonadi instead (which seems to have special treatment for $HOME/.local/share/akonadi) and relaunching akonadi and then kontact seems to have worked (am writing this from that very kontact process).
