Package: plasma-workspace
Version: 4:5.8.4-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

It does not give me a lot of information of this bug, but advance that,
occasionally, on having gone from one window to other one, the plasmashell
cracks.

The curious thing is, that I have a script that for from time to time I
have to kill the plasmashell as it continues:

#!/bin/sh
killall plasmashell &
sleep 5
plasmashell --shut-up &

In the previous version of the plasma - workspace this was not happening to
me.

Although, it is something rare that does not show me in console any
reference to be able to copy and stick to give information. The case is,
that when there changes just the title of the window (the bar of title), it
chats without reason and I have to kill it to be able to touch with the
cursor. But, I cannot do the rapid work.

Something says to me that it is rather, a treatment error that another
thing.

Thanks.

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Some unknown upgrade, but this problem has persisted through several upgrades.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Panel time often freezes, and also sometimes windows of applications
(eg firefox, chromium, mpv, konsole). Sometimes they can be unstuck by
switching virtual terminals e.g. to vt1 then back to vt7.

gdb trace when panel clock froze:

Bug#848523: kwin-x11: Fails to start

2016-12-17 Thread Ben Longbons
Package: kwin-x11
Version: 4:5.8.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

With some recent upgrade, kwin-x11 fails to start properly. Usually I
track testing, but .

I can see the process *running*, but it doesn't actually decorate any
windows (if I manually e.g. start an xterm), and plasma never even gets
started.

Starting a different window manager *sometimes* allows Plasma to start,
but not reliably - I'm not sure how startkde waits for the WM to
activate.

While kwin *has* been unstable in the past, usually just killing the
drkonqi processes would fix everything.

Bug#848524: kwin-wayland: rapid memory leak

2016-12-17 Thread Ben Longbons
Package: kwin-wayland
Version: 4:5.8.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Since kwin-x11 was being even crashier than usual, I tried the other
Plasma (wayland) entry for a change.

To my great joy, it worked flawlessly ... for the first several minutes.

After that, however, everything became nonresponsive, and I observed
kwin-wayland using over 2GB each of both RAM and SWAP as I killed it.

I'm not desperate enough to use GNOME, so I'm stuck on the CLI for now.
