I don't have either of those two packages installed and the sound setup works
fine for me. I'm currently using the vlc backend using alsa directly (without
pulseaudio), if you are using pulseaudio I would expect that you'll need
vlc-pulse or gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio to be installed, but not
libcanberra-pulse. Could you please provide some extra information?

How are you testing the output?
Which sound backend are you using (gstreamer or vlc)?
Which output for that backend are you using?

Thanks,

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every
failed build was retried once to eliminate random failures.

Sorry, I can't reproduce neither one of the issues that you describe.

The one related to banshee might be a mpris2 issue, here I see that banshee
can be muted from kmix only if you are controlling it from the playback
streams (which uses the mpris2 interface), and can be unmuted in the same way.

Another bug report suggested that libcanberra-pulse was needed in pulseaudio
environments, since I don't use pulseaudio you could help us testing that.

It might be worthwhile to check which audio backend is using each application.
Specially the ones that you are starting with your session.

Thanks,

Bug#737422: (no subject)

2014-02-09 Thread Nick
So strangely, over the last day or two sound has now come back (the
problem with banshee mute/ unmute still remains, reproducible every time
on this). I just checked and I already have libcanberra-pulse installed.

So hopefully this problem stays away now!

The phonon backend in kde says I'm using the vlc backend. I can't seem
to find anything specific that talks about a backend in banshee, and
most of the settings in kde sound settings seem to say default analog
sterio/audio etc. Is there anything else that I can check for this?

Thanks,

Regardless of whether this was ever feasible or not, both Qt and
Chromium have left the WebKit project, so I guess we can close this
bug?

Package: qt4-x11
Version: 4.4.0~rc1-5
Severity: important

qt4-xll should use the already-packaged libwebkit-1.0 library, rather than
repackaging webkit separately.

this has a couple major advantages. it reduces duplicated data (on the
debian archives, on the user's system, and in memory). also, it reduces
duplicated maintenance overhead (only one maintainer needed to support
the single code base). and finally, only one package needs to be
updated to fix security issues (see CVE-2008-1025 [1] where the webkit
library already has the fix, but qt4-x11 remains vulnerable).

I'd say so. This would apply if webkit-efl (see #623438), or any other port,
were introduced in the archive. But let's close this for now.

I guess not. Qt4 will keep using webkit as long as it's in the archive, Qt5 is
still using Webkit for 5.2.x. The change may come in 5.3.x.

That being said, I would **love** to see Qt using the system webkit/whatever,
but I'm afraid I'm not sure it's doable, and I'll certainly not code that.

Bug#479851: qt4-x11: should use external webkit library

I don't see how this is even possible. WebKitGTK+ and WebKitQt are
not just API layers on top of WebCore (which is where the bulk of the
WebKit code is):

- WebCore it does not provide a stable API on top of which the
Qt/GTK+/EFL/etc. ones are written. As a matter of fact, it changes
  every week.

- Although WebCore itself is largely platform-independent, significant
parts of its code are not.

And this is not something that can be "fixed" because it is like that
by design.

Berto

I know, it's definitely not possible at all. Sucks :-/
