What about other mail clients? FWIW, I'm writing this answer from kmail connected to my account via IMAP. So the bug does not everyone and I'm pretty sure the problem is the one I described above. Package: akregator Version: 4:4.4.7-2 Severity: wishlist akregator can use the proxy settings to fetch feeds, but it's not possible to set the system-wide proxy unless the kdebase-bin and systemsettings packages are installed.
