Bug#572434: libphonon4: upgrade will remove the entire kde

2010-03-04 Thread Salvo Tomaselli
Package: libphonon4
Version: 4:4.6.0-1
Severity: normal

I can't upgrade this package because the removal of the entire kde (and some
other qt software)
would be the consequence.

Package: kdebase
Version: 4:3.5.4-2
Severity: normal

Hi all,

since I have updated last night a lot of kde to 3.5.4-2, the Print key, which I
had mapped to show yakuake is no longer under my control. Instead it always
starts Ksnapshot. I can take it back temporarily by issuing "Block Global
Shortcuts" twice: The first time around Print does nothing as expected, the
second time around my original Print is restored. When I change the access key
(a global shortcut) of yakuake to Print, kde tells me that Print has already
been allocated to the global action "AccessKey". When I tell it to change it
nevertheless, nothing changes, the complaint is shown the next time as well.
After a restart of kde, everything is back to Ksnapshot. Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Jan

Bug#364119: closed by Olivier Vitrat (Closing Debian bug 364119)

2010-03-04 Thread Bart Samwel
Hmmm. I fail to see how KLaptopDaemon has anything to do with a bug report
against KWin? The problem (if it still exists) is in a combination of kwin
and laptop-mode-tools, which as nothing to do with KLaptopDaemon.

Cheers,
Bart

Bug#572493: qtcreator: starts very slowly with qt 4.6.2-1 from experimental

2010-03-04 Thread Євгеній Мещеряков
Package: qtcreator
Version: 1.3.1-1
Severity: normal

After upgrading to qt 4.6.2-1 qtcreator takes long time (several minutes) to
start. Usually it took only 1-2 seconds to start.

After running qtcreator the following processes are shown by ps:

eugen 7296 101 1.5 715360 57464 pts/1Sl+ 15:24 0:16
/usr/bin/qtcreator.bin

eugen 7306 0.0 0.0 0 0 pts/1Z+ 15:24 0:00
[qtcreator.bin]

After waiting for several minutes for main window to appear and closing
it qtcreator process is still running for around a munute, with
qtcreator.bin as zombie.

You bug can be understood as a request to upload to a new version, so do not
take it so bad ;)
Have you realized also your mail subject is kind of wrong?

Ana

Package: kdebase
Version: 3.5.4-2
Severity: normal

I configured few shortcuts, global-shortcuts in Amarok and KMixer like
win+M is stop playing etc.

After I upgraded KDE some time ago - they stoped working.

I re-configured them and most of them started working again (all the
applications shortucts like Win+T == konsole work now after setting them
again). But other keys do not work.

While setting them again, the old setting was displayed but didnt worked
util set again to identical value in configuration and Saved (ok/apply).

+ global shortcut in amarok: next song (win+n) work
- global shortcut in amarok: pause (win+m) fail
+ global shortcut in kmix: volume up (win+shift+up) fail
+ global shortcut in kmix: volume up (win+shift+down) fail
+ appl shortcut: win+T Konsole work

any clue?

It would be nice to have utility to debug processing of recived key event.

And it would be very good(!) to have utility to search the shortcut by a
key.

Like - I enter a key "win+t" and KDE informs me what is assigned overall
to that key and why / where can I edit that - i would include all KDE
hotkeys (and possibly gestures) as well as (currently running
applications) global hot keys.

Bug#533561: GO for the l10n upload of kdebase-workspace

2010-03-04 Thread Christian PERRIER

Dear maintainer of kdebase-workspace,

On Thursday, February 25, 2010 I sent you a notice announcing my intent to
upload a
NMU of your package to fix its pending l10n issues, after an initial
notice sent on Saturday, February 20, 2010.

We finally agreed that you would do the update yourself at the end of
the l10n update roundand when it fits the KDE team plans.

That time has come.

To help you out, I committed the pending debconf l10n updates to your SVN.

I will continue monitoring this package and nag you folks from time to
time about these minor issues..:-)

Package: kdm
Version: 4:2.2.1.0-6
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I usually have very long running X11 sessions. During those sessions I often
upgrade the xserver-xfree86 package (thanks to Branden's continous upgrade flow
:>), which installs a new X11 server binary. In this situation, dpkg and the
kernel keep both binaries on disk. The old one is kept as long as it is still
running or used by kdm.

There are 2 problems with this :

 - when the X11 session ends gracefully, kdm keeps the same X11 process. So
the new server version is not used and the old binary disk space is not
   freed.

 - if the X11 server crashes, kdm still restarts the old version. I noticed
this while trying to reproduce a crash. It took me a while to figure out
that kdm and startx did not use the same server !

this is pretty much it, believe it or not.
of course configure --enable-selinux is required (in debian/rules).

the debian package should have --enable-selinux ON by default.

if you are considering _not_ applying this patch, then consider this:
a large number of packages have already accepted, upstream, the
selinux patches, including logrotate and gdm.

therefore, libselinux, like libacl, is pretty much going to become
a part of the base linux install.

also, the patch has ZERO effect on a system which has neither selinux
enabled at boot-time nor selinux compiled/modules _in_ the kernel.

Linux, catering to the unique needs of Linux users. It is compatible with the
gadgets written for Google Desktop for Windows as well as the Universal
Gadgets on iGoogle. Following Linux norms, this project is open-sourced,
 under the Apache License.
 .
This package contains the Qt Google Gadgets library, it is required to run
the Qt version of Google Gadgets.
libggadget-qt-1.0-dev_0.11.2-1_amd64.deb
  to main/g/google-gadgets/libggadget-qt-1.0-dev_0.11.2-1_amd64.deb
Changes: google-gadgets (0.11.2-1) experimental; urgency=low
 .
  [ Pino Toscano ]
  * New upstream release:
- fixes a typo in the "World Daylight Clock". (Closes: #566168)
- fixes GTK+ expose events with GTK+ >= 2.18. (Closes: #566169)
- links ggl-qt to X11 and Xrender (Closes: #554696)
  * This new version of google-gadgets breaks API and ABI once again, so:
- rename library packages, 'b' suffix this time.
- add conflict against 'a' libraries.
- update -dev packages dependency accordingly.
  * Make use of the xulrunner dh addon, so dh_xulrunner is run again.
  * Switch from cURL to SOUP for the xml_http_request module. Other than being
recommended upstream, this also avoid crashes which can happen with
gnutls. (Closes: #566167)
  * Install the html-flash-element extension in the -common package.
  * Make libggadget-gtk-1.0-dev and libggadget-qt-1.0-dev depend respectively
on libgtk2.0-dev and libqt4-dev, as they use their host libraries in the
public headers.
  * Add patch 05_hurd_pthread.patch to force linking with pthread (workaround
Hurd issue).
  * Add author and small descriptions to all the patches.
  * Refresh patch 03_GRE_Version.patch, thanks Mike Hommey for the hints.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.4, no changes required.
  * Slightly improve descriptions: add main blurb in each package, fix a couple
of typos.
  * Add lintian overrides:
- the names of the lib* packages don't reflect the SO-names of the
  library/ies contained.
  * Make dh_install ignore .la files.
  * Adjust capitalisation of "QT" to "Qt" also in the ggl-qt.7 manpage.
  * Add also the SOVERSION to the .install files.
 .
  [ Modestas Vainius ]
  * Since ABI breakages are going to continue, add *-api virtual packages
to keep library count in the conflicts at the manageable level.

to be asked. no question was asked, therefore of course there was no

Weird. I didn't receive any letters about additional info before...
My mail server provider seems to be down again today.

Anyway, the link is:

playlist and metadata QTableWidgets are both affected.

In Qt designer it is shown as checked (default). Even if I check manually
it is still does not work after running rbuic4.

Bug#543733: Possible Solution

2010-03-04 Thread Markus Bucher
Hi,

I recently experienced the same problem:
Comic did not get new comic-strips, only the saved ones could be displayed.

If you have installed network-manager but use the "classical" way with
/etc/network/interface, the not configured network-manager seems to
block comic from receiving new strips.
The fast way to check this is to restart network-manager. After that
Comic worked for me again, thus I deinstalled network-manager.

Regards,
Markus

Re: Bug#570369: kdm in squeeze is unable to handle kdm themes which worked in lenny

2010-03-04 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Petter Reinholdtsen]
> Perhaps. Actually, I believe the bug is in KDM, which provided a
> way in lenny to set up ones own kdm theme, and is unable to write
> the specified theme in Squeeze.

Note, I ment 'read' when I used 'write' above.

I've investigated some more, and the problem seem to be that kdm
changed its understanding of the THEME setting. In
/etc/default/kdm.d/20_debian-edu, we use

  THEME=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/debian-edu

Changing this to

  THEME=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/debian-edu/debian-edu.xml

make kdm able to understand the theme. There are still visual
problems with it (the buttons are missing and the time stamp do not
show up), but kdm do not fail to start.

So either we had a bug in debian-edu-artwork which failed to trigger a
problem with kdm in lenny, or the sematic of the THEME setting in kdm
changed between lenny and squeeze. Only the kdm maintainer can tell
what the intended behavour for the THEME setting in
/etc/default/kdm.d/ was.

Anyway, I suggest we change /etc/default/kdm.d/20_debian-edu in
debian-edu-artwork for both Lenny and Squeeze to work around the
problem (by adding /debian-edu.xml to the THEME setting), and fix up
the theme to work in both Lenny and Squeeze as soon as possible.

Happy hacking,

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

The World Daylight Clock has a broken Options menu due to a typo. I've filed
upstream bug #350 about it and applied it to the Ubuntu packaging.

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

Some https-using gadgets can crash (notably Google Calendar) due to a bug in
gnutls apparently (see upstream #269). Since 0.11.1, google-gadgets has a
libsoup-based xml_http_request module (that they seem to recommend using, again
see upstream ticket). Here's a debdiff to use it.

*** /tmp/tmpNAvbmk
In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * debian/control, debian/google-gadgets-common.install: Use internal
libsoup-based xml_http_request, not curl-based one. LP: #458773

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

I experience frequent konqueror crashes when I Shift+Click on a URL leading to
a PDF article. This happens on the URLs, which will autoload in few seconds. I
personally think that the crash occurs when I click at exactly the same time
that JavaScript or some similar mechanism attempts to open that PDF in
the konqueror automatically. This works with PDF links offered by the majority
of research journals, so the test cases should be easy to find. I am not sure
I can provide a good working sample link as a lot of them require
subscription. Here are some examples anyway:
http://het.sagepub.com/cgi/reprint/19/1/2,
http://www.biolreprod.org/cgi/reprint/75/5/697.

I *think* I've seen something about this in some changes. I suspect
this may have something to do with DNS resolution and/or RSS feed.

Can you try how long it takes to startup if you stop your network
connection?

Pressing Ctrl-V used to paste the contents of the clipboard into the
test entry box. Now it does nothing. Selecting Edit/Paste from the
menu works fine. Ctrl-X and Ctrl-C also work.

Ctrl-V works in other KDE applications (kmail, konqueror), but not
ksirc.

I don't remember exactly when this broke, but it may have been during
the kde3.4->3.5 upgrade.

Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5
Severity: minor

Opened control center as regular user, clicked on System Adm.,
Login Mgr., switched to admin mode, downloaded KDE Ice Age
wallpaper, it was saved in /root/.kde/share/wallpapers, IIRC.
Chose it among all the wallpapers to select as background---I
think at this point it was named "Created by Gimp" or something
like that. Preview was showing it alright.
Clicked Apply, OK, etc., restarted KDE---no wallpaper.

Again as regular user went into Control Center, it showed
the preview. Moved the wallpaper to my regular user's directory
where I keep images, now it shows up with the correct name
in the wallpaper choice-list, and can be used as background
for the login manager.

No big deal, of course, but still a bug. Thanks.

I'm trying to copy files from my Canon EOS 350D camera in PTP mode using
Konqueror. The camera is detected and I am able to browse the files. However
when I try to copy them, there's a significant delay (~13 seconds per file)
before the copying actually begins. During this time, the memory card is
being accessed so something is happening, but no files are copied until this
delay is over. For the 95 files I'm trying to copy, that means a delay of 20
minutes before the copying even starts.

Gtkam does not have this issue and begins copying immediately, so this is
something specific to Konqueror or the camera:// kio slave.
