Dato,

Thanks for the green light.

Have now uploaded libexiv2-5 to unstable and (almost) installed on all archs.

BinNMU's required for rdepends against the obsolete libexiv2-4:

# apt-cache rdepends libexiv2-4
libexiv2-4
Reverse Depends:
  krita
  merkaartor
  kphotoalbum
  libkexiv2-7
  hugin-tools
  gwenview
  ufraw
  rawstudio
  qtpfsgui
  python-pyexiv2
  merkaartor
  libstreamanalyzer0
  kphotoalbum

merkaartor was uploaded yesterday late in the evening, so a binNMU is probably
not necessary, at least not on all archs. Unfortunately I didn't see this mail
before uploading it, otherwise I would have waited a bit to make sure it builds
against the new exiv2 everywhere.

Cheers,

I am using Debian Lenny, kernel 2.6.24, KDE 3.5.9 with all the updates to
date. The problem in KMix
is that it doesn't save the volume level, although the volume is always at
maximum (I set it with
alsamixer). The volume is showed always at 0%, and I can't change it using
any of the KMix controls
like PCM, Front or Master. Changing volume from inside applications works,
and the same is for
alsamixer.

I noticed that if I compile from source the alsa drivers from the official
website, KMix starts to
work again, so I'm thinking it's probably a configuration file not
configured properly, or something
similar. As far as I remember, I encountered this problem in alsa 1.0.14 for
the first time (but
maybe it's just because I bought a new motherboard). I wasn't sure whether I
should report this bug
for a KDE package rather than alsa, since the problem actually seems to be
in some ALSA config.

Anyway, here are my hardware specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz
1 GB DDRAM2
Motherboard Asus P5B-E ICH8R (I think it uses the hda-intel driver for
sound)

Bug#526776: kde-minimal: Battery widget should have an option to permantely display the percentage

2009-05-03 Thread Sheridan Hutchinson
Package: kde-minimal
Version: 5:50
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I've got a bug report from a usability perspective. On my laptop I have setup
the KDE 4 battery widget/plasma thing to sit in the systemtray area.

That's great and all, and the visual depiction of the battery level is nice.

What I've noticed myself and others doing is running the mouse cursor over the
icon to find out the current perspective. Some, if not most people, seem to
want the exactly percentage information on the battery at all times.

There really needs to be an option so that the percentage of the battery is
displayed at all times rather than when it's directly interacted with.

Bug#526779: battery-applet: Misleads about still charging

2009-05-03 Thread Sheridan Hutchinson
Package: kde-minimal
Version: 5:50
Severity: wishlist

I've noticed that the battery widget in KDE 4 that sits in the taskbar misleads
the users about when a battery is still being charged or not.

Take this example with how 'kpowersave' from KDE 3.5 had more user friendly
behaviour:
When running on battery, you got a battery icon.
When running on AC and not charging, you got the plug icon.
When running on AC and charing, you got the plug icon with an elecriticy symbol.

This was all VERY clear to the enduser what was going on with their battery.
For mosts laptops it was ideal behaviour because once your battery was no
longer charging and the machine running on just AC, that was system feedback
that most people needed.

Compare this to the behaviour of the revised widget:
When running on battery, you get a battery icon.
When running on AC and no charging, you get the battery icon with an
electricity symbol.
When running on AC and charging, you get the battery icon with an electricity
symbol.

I heartly suggest rethinking this widget. It is better that kpowersave in many
ways but it's essential role, reporting accurate power information for
batteries and states, appears to have not been thought through.

Right click on the battery > Battery Monitor Settings > Show the
percentage of charge on the battery.

Already implemented, therefore bug closed.

Hi,

I had such corruptions and I just upgraded my xserver-xorg-video-intel to
2:2.7.99.1-1 from experimental and they seem to have disappeared.

Do you use Intel Graphics hardware ? It might be worth trying this version…

Best regards,

I am not able to find a way to join a multi user group chat
(jabber/xmpp) with this version of kopete (see
http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=Kopete+Jabber+Muc). I searched
in all menus, clicked on every button with left and right but without
any success. Was this feature removed? Thank you.

Hi,

When using kopete to connect to our local IRC server the message 'Server too
busy to handle request' occurs when I join a new channel. While this
is a server configuration issue, the problem is when it happens kopete will
keep popping up a window that must be clicked on after each response even when
all
message destinations are set to 'ignore'. Ideally you should be able to
prevent this message or have it logged elsewhere so that it does not become a
constant interruption.

Thanks.

Hi,
I use kopete (ver. 3.5.8-1) together with libmeanwhile1 (ver. 1.0.2-3) to deal
with Lotus Sametime server.

When I send message with accented characters, native windows client receives
systematically a blank message.

Moreover receiving messages the accented characters will not be displayed
correctly either with native windows client or other (ex. gaim) sender.

Thank you.

Sending messages work fine.

Kopete sorts all accounts by userid and uses the first userid in that
list to display it in chatwindows for outgoing messages.

Example: I've got a Jabber account 'u...@jabberserver' and an ICQ
account '12345678'. Whatever protocol I use to write 'Hello' to another
user, kopete always displays 'u...@jabberserver: Hello'.

Bug#493458: Fixed upstream

2009-05-03 Thread Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
tag 493458 fixed-upstream
thanks

From the following comment in upstream's bugtracker, this bug is fixed and
scheduled for kde 4.3.0.

--- Comment #23 From Detlev Casanova 2009-04-29 16:26:38 ---
This has been fixed in SVN since some times now (Olivier did that when he
updated iris IIRC)

As it is a new feature since the release of KDE 4.2, you will have to wait for
KDE 4.3 or use the latest SVN version.

If you use SVN, be careful that there is still a possibility to use the old
protocol (xmpp09). That option is by default set to false but an old
configuration file could make Kopete still use the old protocol.
The reason of support of the old protocol is simply because some servers don't
implement the new protocol yet.

Regards, Lisandro.

I should use an http method to connect to msn (stupid firewall that
block everything except port 80). I can connect and I show the status
of my contact. Unfortunalty when I want to talk (I type message and I
press enter) kopete tell me that the message could not be send
(connection closed).

Step to reproduice are easy.

The tiny contact status icons Kopete shows (the 16x16 icons that show
protocol and away status) take up a fair bit of screen space.
Unfortunately, they are not part of the same line of text that shows
the buddies' names.

Solution:

It would be great if the status icons were made part of the same line
of text as my friends' nicknames, so the base of the status icon was
aligned with the base of the nickname line. That way, I could fit more
friends onscreen at once.

Note:

This would make buddy icons (display photos) shrink. To me, this is
not a problem, but if it is a problem for others, it could be fixed by
providing an "Enlarge buddy icons" checkbox in preferences.

To create passwords I prefer to use pwgen and then paste them into the programs
that need them. In the case of Jabber that means pasting it into the server
and the client. Kopete does not well support this because it disables paste
for both entering a password in the configuration, and for registering an
account.

I believe that rejecting a pasted password encourages users to use shorter
passwords and therefore decreases security.

Bug#526852: new upstream version available

2009-05-03 Thread Praveen A
Package: qzion
Version: 0.3.0-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I was trying to build playground/base from kde trunk (4.3 pre) and
cmake step failed as it was not able to find qzion >= 0.4.0

I made an attmpt to make a deb package for new version and uploaded
the packges here http://j4v4m4n.in/repo/
My gpg key is http://j4v4m4n.in/repo/praveen.key.asc

(the upstream site seems to be down, so I had to base my package on
mandriva source rpm).

Bug#526257: libqtgui4: major gfx mem corruption

2009-05-03 Thread Paul Millar

Thanks for the hint.

Yes, my main laptop is running Intel hardware (X calls this "Mobile 4 Series
Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller rev 7").

However, I've also seen the same type of corruption on a desktop (nVidia
running a recent git nouveau drivers) and on another (old) laptop (ATI Radeon
Mobility [something]). So, I'm surprised that a hardware driver update fixed
the problem (you're sure none of the X client libraries or server-side
components were also updated, right?).

I'm running 2.6.29 kernel on these machines, so perhaps it might be fallout
from this mode-switching support in the kernel (although that's wild
speculation).

Anyway, I'm currently on a business trip so I'd rather not fiddle too much as I
need the laptop to be functional (albeit, with a slightly annoying problem).
I'll try to look into the upgrade when I'm back.

Cheers,

Paul.
