Arts fails to build from source in arm

2006-08-23 Thread Joaquim Ortega-Cerdà
There is a strange failure to build from source of arts in arm (europa). There
is an ICE, see
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?&pkg=arts&ver=1.5.4-1&arch=arm&stamp=1153922700&file=log&as=raw
On the other hand the new version of kdemultimedia also failed to build on
arm (elara) with an ICE on Aug 4, and with exactly the same toolchain it
built on netwinder on Aug 21. In view of this, may I suggest to requeue arts
on a different buildd machine?
Best regards,
Quim

Bug#384353: kdm locks keyboard, keeping user from typing username/password

2006-08-23 Thread Eric Van Buggenhaut
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.5.4-2
Severity: important

Hi,

When booting up my laptop, kdm is automatically launched and greets
users with the login window (user list on the left side) but doesn't let
people use the keyboard. Typing username or password doesn't show
anything on screen. Mouse works fine though and let choose login names.

If I drop down Menu button and choose Console session, I can login as
root, do a /etc/init.d/kdm restart and then the keyboard works again
within kdm.

I'm stuck as to the origin of the behaviour, most of all because it
would also kdm behaviour isn't idempotent ?

Regards,

Eric.

Bug#384353: kdm locks keyboard, keeping user from typing username/password

2006-08-23 Thread Fathi Boudra
hi,

i'm not sure it's caused by kdm. Have you updated recently your system ?
strangely you've got on your system:
ii libx11-6 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 li
ii libxau6 1:1.0.0-3
ii libxdmcp6 1:1.0.0-4
ii libxtst6 1:1.0.1-5
ii xbase-clients 1:7.1.ds-2

me:
libx11-6 1.0.0-8
libxau6 1.0.0-4
libxdmcp61.0.0-4
libxtst6 1.0.1-5
xbase-clients7.1.ds-3

have you seen the thread on debian-devel about:
Incorrect version of xserver-xorg in unstable

xorg has been uploaded in unstable instead experimental by mistake.
Maybe you are affected by this mistake.

cheers,

Fathi

Right, so I noticed paer has been re-opened post-compromise, so I had a look

Bug#384416: kdesu without root Etch

2006-08-23 Thread utilisateur debian
Package: kdebase-bin
Version: 4:3.5.4-2 (testing)
KDE su: 1.0

KDE su don't work after an Etch beta 3 clean install without root password (a
la Ubuntu).

Sudo work fine for root access but kdesu and su don't work.

I do a "Standard System" installation without default desktop Gnome. I have
install these package:

kde-core, kdebase, kdm, xserver-xorg, x-window-system-core, kdeadmin,
kde-i18n-fr and some KDE stuff...

How to use ksesu or su?

Suggestion: Kubuntu or Freespire method?

thanks

Right, here's an off-the-cuff patch, which gets me past the point of the
SIGBUS on paer.

The same bug exists in the handling of Inf and NaN, but I didn't bother
patching for those since those constants should always be defined on Debian
systems and the related code paths never triggered.
