I've now checked my configuration. I had specified "us" as XkbLayout"
for X11. I've changed this to "de" for testing and it works fine. I've
never thought about XF86Config-4, since I didn't thought it would affect
this setting. I had completely forgotten about since, since I'm using
the KDE keyboard tool in KDE itself to decide which keymap to use. Maybe
this should be documented somewhere? But at least you can close this
bugreport and thanks for your help.

Thanks for your fast answer to my bugreport. Currently I'm unable to
check the configuration, since I'm on a short visit to my parents. But
when I'm back next weekend, I'm going to report back.

Hi,

currently I'm not able to configure kdm to use a german keymap but use
english language in the greeter. kdm forces me to decide between either
having a german keymap, as I'm using when logged in and german text. Or
I'm getting all text in english, but then I'm also having a US keymap.
Please consider adding the possibility of having a german keymap while
having at the same time english texts. Thanks!

Hi,

I've just installed Kaudiocreator and I was wondering why the encoders where
not suggested or in the recommends part, for exemple the package
vorbis-tools.

I'm not on the list so please CC me for the answer.

In the future, it will be useful if you include the version number of
the package you're using. I guess it's 3.3.1-2, which is currently in
  testing.

For your information, the bug you report is #285236 and is fixed in
kaudiocreator 3.3.2-1, which is currently in unstable [1] and will
  eventually migrate to testing.

The wallets created before the upgrade cannot be open (error -9:
possibly incorrect password), but the new ones (created after system upgrade)
are running perfectly.

Don't know what info can be util to find the bug, ask for anything but
the wallet files :-)

Thanks.

Bug#283895: we will wait for qt4

2005-03-05 Thread Mathieu Roy
Hello,

This bug is truly annoying. People of KDE says that packagers have
been told about the patch and that we should bug them if we have this
problem.

We have this problem and it practically makes konqueror unusable
(hence the important severity). Will sarge be shipped with a broken
konqueror due to klipper, that freezes each time someone do a
copy/paste with the mouse? How about applying the proposed patch in

And it's not like if no KDE release have been made since this bug has
been reported.

Regards,

Bug#283895: we will wait for qt4? Other option

2005-03-05 Thread Mathieu Roy
I forgot to say in my previous mail that if someone configure klipper
to
"synchronize the content of the buffer and the selection"
(it may not be the exact wording, I'm using localized version, so I'm
guessing the english version)

the symptons apparently no longer shows up (or rarely).

If it is not an option to get patched version of qt or klipper (I dont
exactly now the specifics about the patch), could it be an option to
have klipper by default set to this, or even the other settings being
blocked?
That would be helpful to users that havent time to poke around the
configuration to find this workaround by themselves.

Regards,

Maybe there's another option involved (ignore selection?)

I do not know what I can do to demonstrate it to you but I'm not

Bug#298254: kdm times out on nfs root client on startup

2005-03-05 Thread Malte Schmidt-Tychsen
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.3.2-1

Hi there,

I set up an nfs root client with dbootstrap. Everything works fine except
some localization issues.

Only kdm doesn't work after boot. xdm works after boot. It comes up slow,
but it works. kdm also works, but only if I start it via /etc/init.d/kdm
start. I don't get anything from /var/log/kdm/ the only message I get is
in /var/log/syslog

Mar 6 01:19:05 smith kdm[2426]: X server startup timeout, terminating
Mar 6 01:19:05 smith kdm[2426]: X server for display :0 can't be
started, session disabled

This happens also even if I set up /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc timeout values to
insanely high values:

[X-*-Core]
# How long to wait before retrying to connect a display.
# Default is 15
OpenDelay=150
# How long to wait before timing out a display connection attempt.
# Default is 120
OpenTimeout=1200
# How many connection attempts to make during a start attempt. Note that
# a timeout aborts the entire start attempt.
# Default is 5
OpenRepeat=5
# Try at most that many times to start a display. If this fails, the
display
# is disabled.
# Default is 4
StartAttempts=400

Thx,
