unable to mount smb shares using konqueror

2005-01-09 Thread Rishi
Hi

I'm able to browse and access workgroups and shares on network using
smb:/ but when I try to use the smbmount function to mount the share,
it says unable to...

I've done chmod +s /usr/bin/smbmount and smbumount .. still no joy.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? If I run smbmount //server/share
~/mnt/server/share ... it works file as a normal user

Would prefer to the the Konqueror GUI to do the same though... :-)

Regards

Bug#266455: Juk does not play flac files

2005-01-09 Thread John L Fjellstad
Package: JuK 2.1.1 (Using KDE 3.3.1)
kernel: Linux legolas 2.6.9-jlfn #1 Sun Dec 26 00:30:22 PST 2004 i686
GNU/Linux

I had the same problems getting Juk to play flac files. It would play
it sometimes, and other times it didn't play.

After some testing back and forth (uninstall and installing programs), I
found out it was because of libarts1-xine (3.3.1-1). If this library is
not installed, I can't play flac files in JuK.

To test, remove libarts1-xine, make sure you log out and then back in.
JuK won't play flac files (but has no problems with mp3 files). Install
libarts1-xine, log out and back in. JuK will now play flac files.

I'm not sure why libarts1-xine should matter, since as far as I can see,
it has nothing to do with flac files.

This workaround was suggested by me, and I'm not KDE developer.

We found that current KAccel code works only if XLookupString() returns
latin character, so just I forced it to do so.

I'm already using packages with the fix applied for about 2 weeks on
several computers. No more crashes, no related problems.

An interesting note is that the bug was not there in 3.2. Ctrl+W worked as
expected in konqueror both in russian and english layout. But probably the
situation was similar there, it just didn't cause a crash - I don't know.

We have not filed bug report to KDE after our debugging session, we just
wrote to kde-devel. This probably was not a good idea, there was no reply.
So I've submitted bug report to KDE today, it's #96621 there.

Bug#289481: kdebase-bin: doesn't open file or html

2005-01-09 Thread Michael Below
Package: kdebase-bin
Version: 4:3.3.1-3
Severity: important

I have a partial KDE install, mainly the packages required by
scribus, k3b, konqueror and kmid. Since I did the update to KDE 3.3,
from testing, I can't use any KDE application involving directory
or html browsing anymore.

Looks like I am missing some undeclared dependency, or maybe some
internal database wasn't upgraded during the update?

E.g. the output from konqueror:

- Install kweather and kuickshow.
- Call "kuickshow /usr/share/apps/kweather".
-> A file selection dialog appears with the images in the directory
-> The first one is chosen by default.
- Pres the down cursor key
-> The *third* image file is chosen, not the second one.

I appended images before and after the first pressing of the down key,

Bug#289521: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins: Could it be package against libflac6 ?

2005-01-09 Thread jjluza
Package: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins
Version: 4:3.3.2-0pre1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

I notice that libflac4 seems to have a problem and is replaced by
libflac6. I don't know if libflac4 will be fixed but it seems that all
applications depending on libflac turns to libflac6 instead of libflac4.
So I think it could be a good thing that kdemultimedia-kio-plugins now
depends on libflac6.

If you do that, don't forget experimental package please. ;-)

Thanks for your work.

Regards,

OK, now I can reproduce. Formerly I couldn't, I had kuickshow in
thumbnail mode (or however it is called).

It seems worth reporting upstream, yes. Before we forward: did you

yes, seems that a dependency on kwin is missing. you can manually
install kwin to temporarily fix the problem.

> There is the problem. Please fix asap.

the fix will be in the next upload. it can be a while, though, since
we are waiting for the previous kdebase upload to get compiled in all
  arches.

Yes: Try starting KIconEdit, open file, setting the file dialog
to /usr/share/apps/kweather/, setting view mode with F6,
then chosing a file by cursor keys (see attached screenshot).
So it seems to be a widget bug, not a "feature" of Kuickshow.

Bug#289551: konqueror: displays wrong fonts

2005-01-09 Thread Wolfgang Jeltsch
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.3.2-0pre1
Severity: normal

I had set all fonts in the KControl font selection except the monospace
font to Bitstream Vera Sans. Konqueror's default font was set to
Bitstream Vera Sans, too.

I changed the fonts in KControl to some Nimbus thing and then back to
Bitstream Vera Sans. But now normal text (not headlines etc.) was
displayed with a serif font. I changed the Konqueror font to Bitstream
Vera Sans Mono and Dingbats but neither of them resulted in the expected
font change.

After finally changing Konqueror's font back to Bitstream Vera Sans, I
saw the sans serif font again. But when I reduced the font size via the
toolbar, I saw again a serif font.

I cannot see the reason for this behavior. It seems to me that there is
a notable amount of brokeness in Konqueror's font handling.

I tried it out.

Paragraph changes were not displayed when I started to compose a new message.
I inserted some typical HTML stuff (list items), saved the message and
started to edit it again. Now empty lines were shown at paragraph changes.

In addition, I discovered that when you create unnumbered list items, nothing
special appears in the plain text version. List items are handled like
ordinary paragraphs. In my opinion, there should be something like
indentation combined with a bullet replacement like an asterisk to make clear
that we have list items. (Evolution used to do it this way.)

Paragraph changes are still represented by just a line break in the plain text
version of the mail.

I still couldn't find a possibility to insert an ordinary line break.

Best wishes,
Wolfgang

Following these instructions (though saving in Drafts rather than the
outbox), I was able to reproduce this using kmail 3.3.1-3 from sid.

Bug#266455: Juk does not play flac files

2005-01-09 Thread John L Fjellstad
> I believe this time is another problem. Please read:
> http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=289343

Sorry, I didn't give enough information in my initial email.
I'm running Sarge
libflac4:
  Installed: 1.1.0-11

So I don't think it's bug #289343.
I tried running Juk on the commandline, but there aren't any log
messages, so I'm not sure what actually happens.

Bug#289593: usb devices blocking each other

2005-01-09 Thread Jürgen Katins
Package: KPilot
Version: 4.4.1
I am using a PalmOS device on usb. I am too using a mouse on an other usb
connector. I start KPilot. Then I hit the hotsync button on my Palm and my
mouse stops functioning.
When I hit the hotsync button while Kpilot is not yet started the mouse runs.
The mouse is an optical Microsoft mouse.

Bug#289599: FTBFS on kfreebsd-gnu

2005-01-09 Thread Robert Millan
Package: kdelibs
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

The attached patches fix FTBFS on kfreebsd-gnu. After applying the upstream
part you have to regenerate config.h.in, configure.in. Relibtoolisation is
also needed.
