building gcc-3.1-3.1ds2 on powerpc

2002-05-21 Thread Rob Latham
Hi

i wanted to play with gcc-3.1, so i added
deb-src http://ftp-master.debian.org/~doko/gcc/ ./
to apt.sources and tried to build from source.

It looks like the build got pretty far, but failed towards the end
because it tried to install stuff into /usr/local

After 'apt-get source gcc-3.1' i ran 'dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot'
Here's the error i get:

I'm curious if anyone else has seen this problem building gcc-3.1 as a
non-root user. Did i miss a trick somewhere?

Thanks

exhibiting the bug. Attached is the resulting preprocessor output file

It turns out that this isn't a bug with gcc, but with the package I'm trying
to build with gcc. It tries to produce a fake static libgcc, but misses one
of the symbols.

Please close this. Sorry to have troubled you.

You mean -O0, perhaps?

And regardless, if there's an optimization level that will work, then
that's great (should have though to try that myself), and I can upload a
new package soon.

Thanks

Actually, there may be a mistake in the current rules file which is
causing it to always build without an -O flag...

Changing the rules to work correctly (to use -O2 as you mentioned)
appears to fix the problem, though I assume that will mean
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=noopt won't work on armel for now.

In any case, if my test build finishes successfully, I'll fix the
package and upload a new version soonish.

Thanks for the help.

Bug#762238: gcc-4.9: guile-2.0 fails to build with offset problem

2014-09-19 Thread Rob Browning

Package: gcc-4.9
Version: 4.9.1-14

I'm not sure this is a gcc bug, but currently on abel.debian.org, in a
sid chroot, guile-2.0 2.0.11+1-3 fails to build as depicted here:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=guile-2.0&arch=armel&ver=2.0.11%2B1-4&stamp=1411145211

After some testing, it looks like the problem may have been introduced
by the switch from 4.8 to 4.9.

You can likely ignore the the two rhdi errors -- those appear to be
quashed by adding "&" to the output register constraints in the relevant
guile inline asm (libguile/vm-i-scheme.c:365).

With regard to the offset error:

vm.s:13691: Error: bad immediate value for offset (4096)

Here's the relevant vm.s temp file:

tmp-arm-vm.s.gz
Description: tmp-arm-vm.s.gz

Thanks, and let me know if I can help any further.

2015-08-24 Thread Rob Browning

Feel free to downgrade this if you think appropriate, but given that 4.8
is scheduled to be removed from stretch at some point, this will
eventually become grave for guile-2.0. (The problem appears to affect
gcc-4.9 as well.)

For reference, it looks like a similar problem on armhf may have been fixed:

  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=764532

For reference, I'm running a build on harris.debian.org (armhf) which
has already made it past the invocation that failed.

Problem with cpp 3.3.5

2005-03-17 Thread Rob Epping
Hello,

First off, I apologize of this is not the appropriate way to contact you
for a problem. Googling around and asking on IRC did not help.

My problem: I have three Dell PE1850 systems wich all run Debian
testing.
Last-update-dates differ bij a few (two) weeks. The first system has
cpp-3.3 3.3.4 installed and has no problem compiling MM5-TERRAIN [1].

The second system is the same as the first and also has no problem
compiling.

The third system was installed later than the first two and has
cpp-3.3 3.3.5 installed. It fails on executing "cut -c1-72 ia.F |
/lib/cpp -I. -C -traditional -DNCARG -DRECLENBYTE -DSGI > ia.f"
with the error "cc1: internal compiler error: in ten_to_ptwo,
at real.c:"

I tried searching the net for a 3.3.4 version, but it was only
available as deb-src.
So I tried compiling this on the 3.3.5 system, which failed. It worked
however on one of the 3.3.4 systems. Both systems needed some
additional software though (includng gnats-3.3). The problem persisted
in the self-compiled 3.3.4, which I installed on the third system.

I am out of options, except for rsync-ing the working system to the bad.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Tips, hints, pointers, anything?

Thanks in advance!

Any plans to support multiple versions of gcc with g2c.h?

2005-06-30 Thread Rob Browning

I may be misunderstanding things, but it seems like

  #include

will only work for one version of gcc right now since g2c.h is in
libg2c0-dev and that package installs the file in a version specific
directory.

Are there any plans to change this?

Thanks
