[Bug target/35659] [4.3/4.4 Regression] Miscompiled code with -O2 (but not with -O2 -funroll-loops) on ia64

2008-06-04 Thread rguenth at gcc dot gnu dot org

--- Comment #9 from rguenth at gcc dot gnu dot org 2008-06-04 08:59 ---
The only code-generation changing part of the patch is

(insert_fake_stores): Handle all component-ref style stores
in addition to INDIRECT_REF. Also handle complex types.

but that only fixes a missed-optimization, so it probably makes the problem
latent on the trunk.

applied to gcc-4.1 source. It has also been tested.

Hello,

When using -fstack-protector, gcc tries to link with libssp_nonshared,
which is not package, thus making a bunch of packages FTBFS. The
attached patch fixes that by making configure notice that (just like on
GNU/Linux and GNU/kfreebsd) __stack_chk_fail is available from glibc.

Cheers,
Samuel

Package: gappletviewer-4.3
Version: 4.3-20080202-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The gappletviewer-4.3 package is empty on those architectures
that aren't configured 'with_java_plugin': armel arm m68k mips mipsel.

These empty packages are useless; please build the package only for the
supported architectures and have the others removed from the archive.

(This applies to -4.2 as well, I'll clone the bug later.)

Cheers,

With the upcoming xulrunner transition, libxul-dev is going to disappear.

I already sent instructions on what you should be doing in
http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2008/05/msg9.html

This bug report is mostly to help follow the transition going.

FYI, I will start NMUing plugins and components next week, and will break
the remaining packages by uploading xulrunner 1.9 in unstable on May 25.

Though help will be appreciated, I'll also prepare updated packages for
these during this week and next.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,

Now that gcc-4.3 4.3.0-5 is installed on i386/amd64 with the -mcld switch
turned on by default there is no more reason not to make it the default. Here
is a patch to do it, I will NMU on May 30 if it is not uploaded.

Thanks,

Arthur.

Bug#484589: gcc-4.3-source: Too hard to build multiarch/multilib compilers from patched source

2008-06-04 Thread Daniel Schepler
Package: gcc-4.3-source
Version: 4.3.0-5
Severity: wishlist

With a patched version of gcc-4.3 from the gcc-4.3-source package, I had a
very hard time figuring out how to build the compiler for amd64 to
support -m64/-m32 and build all the appropriate libraries. From what I've
figured out, I need to set TARGET64_MACHINE and TARGET32_MACHINE to
appropriate values, and set biarch_multidir_names to a list including at
least libgcc; and I might still have missed other things. It would make my
life much easier if I could just pass a flag something like --enable-multilib
to the configure call and it would handle all that automatically.

Bug#484589: gcc-4.3-source: Too hard to build multiarch/multilib compilers from patched source

2008-06-04 Thread Daniel Schepler
I forgot to mention I also need to create multiarch.inc by hand, according to
the code in the gcc-4.3 source package, which is tedious and error-prone.
