gcc-defaults override disparity

2006-09-02 Thread Debian Installer
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

gpc-doc_3.4.6-11_i386.deb: package says section is doc, override says devel.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you replied to one
like it before and have not received a response yet, please ignore
this mail. Your reply needs to be processed by a human and will be in
due course, but until then the installer will send these automated
mails; sorry.]

The daily man-db cron job produces the following error:

> /etc/cron.daily/man-db:
> mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1.gz is a dangling symlink

cc.1.gz is a slave link to gcc.1.gz, which no longer exists. The
attached patch removes the slave link.

Package: gcc
Version: 4:4.1.1-6
Severity: normal

Today I got mail from the mandb cron script:

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/c++.1.gz is a dangling symlink

This is because the gcc postinst installs the following alternative:

,
| update-alternatives --quiet \
| --install /usr/bin/cc cc /usr/bin/gcc 20 \
| --slave /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1.gz cc.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/gcc.1.gz
`

But /usr/share/man/man1/gcc.1.gz does not exist.

Note that the g++ package suffers from the same problem.

Package: gcc-defaults
Version: 4:4.1.1-6

Hello,

several gcc-defaults packages install alternatives for manpages not
shipped anymore since 4:4.1.1-6. This is most likely due to the fix for
#23.

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/c++.1.gz is a dangling symlink

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1.gz is a dangling symlink

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/i386-uclibc-linux-cpp.1.gz is a dangling
symlink

Previous versions of gcc-defaults packages shipped symlinks to manpages
from the corresponding real packages, i.e. g++ shipped g++.1.gz pointing
to g++-4.1.1.gz shipped by g++-4.1 etc. pp. Furthermore, g++ installed
an alternative for c++.1.gz pointing to g++.1.gz.
Currently, neither the symlinks in the gcc-defaults packages nor the
corresponding manpages in the real packages are shipped. The alternatives,
however, are still installed. This leads to the warnings shown above.

I'm not sure if it is intentional not to ship all these manpages anymore
or if this is just a mistake brought by the fix of #23. However, in
any case it should be consistent :)

regards

Package: gcc-defaults
Version: 4:4.1.1-6

Hello,

several gcc-defaults packages install alternatives for manpages not
shipped anymore since 4:4.1.1-6. This is most likely due to the fix for
#23.

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/c++.1.gz is a dangling symlink

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1.gz is a dangling symlink

mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/i386-uclibc-linux-cpp.1.gz is a dangling
symlink

Previous versions of gcc-defaults packages shipped symlinks to manpages
from the corresponding real packages, i.e. g++ shipped g++.1.gz pointing
to g++-4.1.1.gz shipped by g++-4.1 etc. pp. Furthermore, g++ installed
an alternative for c++.1.gz pointing to g++.1.gz.
Currently, neither the symlinks in the gcc-defaults packages nor the
corresponding manpages in the real packages are shipped. The alternatives,
however, are still installed. This leads to the warnings shown above.

I'm not sure if it is intentional not to ship all these manpages anymore
or if this is just a mistake brought by the fix of #23. However, in
any case it should be consistent :)

regards
   Mario

The daily man-db cron job produces the following error:

c++.1.gz is a slave link to g++.1.gz, which no longer exists. The
attached patch removes the slave link.

No it is not problematic but it is a different bug. Can you file it
seperately?

Bug#385733: gcc-4.1-base: copyright file still contains GFDL text

2006-09-02 Thread Sven Joachim

Package: gcc-4.1-base
Version: 4.1.1-13
Severity: normal

Since the documentation has been removed :-(, there is no need to
mention its license in debian/copyright any more.

Bug#385732: gcc-defaults: Non-free files in source package

2006-09-02 Thread Sven Joachim

Package: gcc-defaults
Version: 1.42
Severity: serious

The source package still contains the non-free files fsf-funding.7,
gfdl.7 and gpl.7, apparently for no good reason since they aren't
installed. Please remove them.
