gettext failed to build from source on the sparc buildd, however it
built fine on my sparc pbuilder. The buildd log lacks some things
that are in the pbuilder log "config.status: creating

and of course the sections that use those makefiles.

Hi Matthias,

This bug is the mirror of bug #304659, doxygen segfaulting during the build
of gcc-3.4_3.4.3-12. There appears to be an invalid use of '@var' without a
corresponding variable declaration in libstdc++v3/include/bits/basic_string.h.
Fixing this reference allows gcc-3.4 to build from source again with current
doxygen.  Patch attached.

This patch will be included in my upcoming NMU for bug #302995.

Thanks,

Please add a "gnat-4.0 [ada_no_archs] |" alternative to the Build-Depends
in debian/control.m4 to make it possible to compile gnat-4.0 with itself.

Please also change the Build-Depends from 'ia32-libs-dev [amd64]'
to 'libc6-dev-i386 [amd64] | ia32-libs-dev [amd64]'.

This will make it possible to use the same setup for multilib support
on amd64 as on other architectures, where the necessary alternative
libc6-dev-xxx package is built from glibc, as it should be,
instead of being provided by an ad-hoc mechanism like ia32-libs.

This change will also make the amd64 toolchain independent from
packages which are built on the i386 architecture.

The "| ia32-libs-dev [amd64]" alternative should be provided
until the transition to 'libc6-dev-i386' has been completed, i.e.
until the glibc and ia32-libs packages have been fixed.

Regards
Andreas Jochens

c++ STL namespaces, which file is included?

2005-05-06 Thread Viktor Horvath
Synopsis: STL namespaces, which file is included?
Severity: medium
Priority: medium
Category: c++ c
Release: g++-3.3 (GCC) 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-1)
Environment: Linux Charon 2.6.10 i686 GNU/Linux
Architecture: i686

Hi, I'm sorry to have to repeat a question which was posed in January
2004 by Piotr Kozieradzki in general. Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but
I think my question is related directly to gcc.

My concrete problem is MUTE, a C++ wxWindows application. Of course I'd
ask the author specific questions, but however, the interesting thing is
I have both gcc-2.95 and gcc-3.3 installed, and there are two versions
of stl_alloc.h:

$ dpkg -S stl_alloc.h
libstdc++2.10-dev: /usr/include/g++-3/stl_alloc.h
stl-manual: /usr/share/doc/stl-manual/html/stl_alloc.h
libstdc++5-3.3-dev: /usr/include/c++/3.3/bits/stl_alloc.h

I thought that the one of libstdc++2.10-dev is old (for gcc-2.95, even
if the directory is called g++-3) and the one of libstdc++5-3.3-dev is
more recent. However, under the lots of errors the compilation of MUTE
gives me I find

--- snip

, unsigned int)':

3/stl_alloc.h: undefined reference to `terminate(void)'
--- snap

So the old stl_alloc.h is giving errors. Apparently, MUTE isn't calling
that file directly (a recursive grep found nothing). Has anyone an idea
how to say g++-3.3 that he should use the files of libstdc++5 without
uninstalling libstdc++2.10 (and gcc-2.95) ?

Best wishes to everybody,
Viktor.

binutils-2.16

2005-05-06 Thread Matthias Klose
Hi,

I've put experimental packages for binutils-2.16 at

  http://people.debian.org/~doko/binutils

I'm not uploading to experimental, as you cannot discover, if somebody
uploads packages to sid with the experimental binutils installed.

Thiemo, please could you check, if I correctly merged the mips related
changes from the current Debian package? Any other feedback would be
welcome as well.

Thanks, Matthias

Re: Compiling Kernel with Dynamic Module Loading Enabled

2005-05-06 Thread Tony Vandiver
Is there more of a newbie group with less traffic that I might be able to
ask this
kind of question on?

Thanks,

Subject: Compiling Kernel with Dynamic Module Loading Enabled

Hi All,
   What options do I need to use to compile a kernel that doesn't build
the modules into it, but instead allows me to use modconf to select
modules as needed? I've rebuilt the kernel (2.4.18) about 20 times trying
to get just the right combination, and every time I get it wrong, I get a
kernel panic and have to start over from scratch. Is there a better way
to tweak and test the kernel than to reinstall from the CD?

Thanks,
Tony Vandiver
