Bug#268991: gcj-3.4: simple program segfaults

2004-08-30 Thread David N. Welton
Package: gcj-3.4
Version: 3.4.1-4sarge1
Severity: important

gcj-3.4 --main=hecl hecl.java
@ashland [~/workshop/hecl] $ ./a.out
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Maybe there is a bug in my code...
import java.io.*;

public class hecl {

public static void main(String [] args) {
StringBuffer input = new StringBuffer();
FileInputStream fin;
int c = 0;
try {
fin = new FileInputStream(args[0]);
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fin);
while ((c = in.read()) != -1)
  input.append((char)c);

  } catch (Exception e) {
  System.err.println ("Error reading from
  file" + e);
  }

  System.out.println("Input is: " + input);
}

}

but it seems to work elsewhere (on i386/unstable).

Bug#268929: libffi2-dev: [amd64] Wrong libdir='/usr/lib./lib64'

2004-08-30 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Hi,

welcome to our little rolercoaster. Lowering the priority again.

Steve Langasek verified this on sparc and said that the sparc sablevm
package was build with the broken libffi2-dev package. But unlike the
previous builds with '/usr/lib/.' or '/usr/lib/../lib64' this time
libtool did not mess up and add rpaths and destroy the dpkg-shlibs
functionality it seems.

Maybe now the libdir is too broken to matter. :)

Severity lowered to important as Steve suggested.

MfG
Goswin

Package: gcc-3.3-base
Version: 1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When upgrading my debian/testing system, the gcc-3.3-... packages didn't
install correctly.
I've received the following errors:
pkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/g77-3.3-doc_1%3a3.3.4-6sarge1.1_all.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite /usr/share/doc/gcc-3.3-base/changelog.Debian.gz', which

is also in package gcc-3.3-base

It seems, that the /usr/share/doc/gcc-3.3-base/changelog.Debian.gz file
is erroneously included in multiple gcc-3.3-... packages in version
1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1

Package: gcc-3.3
Version: 1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1
Severity: grave

Hi!

I'm using Debian testing and just a few minutes ago I tried to upgrade
my system throught aptitude which resulted in errors. Updating
informed me that new version of the following packages were available
(installed version follows package name while available version is in
parenthesis):

gcc-3.3-base1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)
libstdc++5  1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)
cpp-3.3 1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)
gcc-3.3 1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)
libstdc++5-3.3-dev  1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)
g++-3.3 1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)

gcc-3.3-doc 1:3.3.4-6sarge1 (1:3.3.4-6sarge1.1)

Only gcc-3.3-base, libstdc++5 and cpp-3.3 were installed correctly,
the rest of the packages had errors while installed.

The relevant log from dpkg:

Fixing requires dirty DPKG tricks:

(Reading database ... 74747 files and directories currently installed.)

.../libstdc++5_1%3a3.3.4-9_powerpc.deb) ...

Unpacking replacement libstdc++5-3.3-dev ...
Setting up libstdc++5 (3.3.4-9) ...

The same situation applies to both 3.3.4-6sarge1.1 and 3.3.4-9 packages of GCC
and G++, plus related
libstdc++5 packages. In both cases, a badly handled symlink to the Debian
changelog is the problem.

Requires fixing ASAP. You CANNOT expect users to manually fix braindead
packages.

This is probably very easy to fix (i.e. place the file in correct dir).
