Bug#225510: something wrong with gcc<->g++ dependency
Package: gcc Version: 4:3.3.2-1 Severity: normal Just want to let you know, that there is probably something wrong with dependencies for gcc and/or g++ in "testing". Here is what I got today: Unpacking replacement gcc ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/gcc_4%3a3.3.2-1_sparc.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/g++', which is also in package g++ Preparing to replace g++ 4:3.3.1-2 (using .../g++_4%3a3.3.2-1_sparc.deb) ... Unpacking replacement g++ ... After that I used apt-get -f upgrade and the installation was successfull. But I think this is a bug. --JS -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: sparc Kernel: Linux iipl 2.4.21 #1 Thu Aug 7 18:10:47 EDT 2003 sparc Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages gcc depends on: ii cpp 4:3.3.2-1 The GNU C preprocessor (cpp) ii cpp-3.3 1:3.3.2-4 The GNU C preprocessor ii gcc-3.3 1:3.3.2-4 The GNU C compiler -- no debconf information

[Bug c++/13517] confusing error message for reference on a constant
--- Additional Comments From pinskia at gcc dot gnu dot org 2003-12-30 17:17 --- It is not a special case in the C++ standard at all, the problem is that you are trying to a constant and make it a reference which is wrong. [Bug c++/13517] confusing error message for reference on a constant
--- Additional Comments From falk at debian dot org 2003-12-30 18:02 --- String literals are in fact a sspecial case in the C++ standard, since there is an implicit conversion to (non-const) char*. It is deprecated though, and g++ should probably warn about it. Aso for the error message, I can't find it that bad; it says there's no matching method, and that's exactly what the problem is. I don't think g++ should list for every candidate why it doesn't match, these error messages tend to be long enough as they are. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13517 --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter.
