I removed the debian nedit_5.0-2.deb package and installed the linux executable. This corrected all the problems except the Page Up key still does not work. I'm running an i586 debian GNU Linux box with all the latest packages from the /debian/hamm/hamm/binary directory. Your ncurses library is not properly configured. Try to ask Debian team about this, or compile a recent ncurses snapshot which has the configuration bug fixed. (The bug did not appear with libc5) Probably I should have built this check in configure script, so it would be less confusing. 2.5.69 kernel needs rtc.c patch
RTC does not work either compiled as a module or into the kernel. A patch for this is needed or a new kernel-source-2.5.69 package is needed. Cheers, Victor
Kernel 2.5.69 problem
I compiled and ran the debian kernel-source-2.5.69 package. It boots OK, however, none of he modutil functions work. I keep getting the following error message: "QM_MODULES: Function not implemented" whenever I try things such as insmod, lsmod, or depmod. I suspect the source for this was omitted from the source package. Used latest kernel-package for the compile. Help appreciated. Victor Running all latest SID packages on i386 machine.
Re: Kernel 2.5.69 problem
Installed module-init-tools and this took care of the situation. Thanks to the many who suggested this course of action. Victor
