Bug#4133: Samba goes into busy loop?

1996-08-14 Thread Support
Package: samba
Version: 1.9.16alpha10-1

When left unattended, the smbd daemon (or several instances of such)
seems to go into some sort of busy look that eats up all of the
processor time of the computer. This seems to occur when no computers
are actually accessing shares exported by samba (i.e. when the Win95
machines are turned off for the night), but may also occur at other
times (i.e. the only share requested by a just turned on machine doesn't
exist).

Since the machines that samba runs on are used as production news and
web servers, this is a serious problem. Current solution is to run smbd
as a daemon instead of from inetd and to kill it before leaving for the
day. Seeking a better solution, or pointer to an earlier version that
may remidy the problem by stepping to a more stable release.

I believe 1.9.15beta? or 1.8.? (which I was running on a slackware
system that was recently replaced by the debian system) did not exhibit
this bug.

The problem with that fix is that it usually goes balistic after we've
left the office for the night. Version 1.9.15p8 of samba didn't seem to
have that problem. This might be instructive in looking for what was
changed.

Illegal Seduction Technique? - this video is not safe for work

2013-02-20 Thread Support
Holy crap... I just saw a video that's absolutely HILARIOUS.
http://badass.ebook-review.org/
Josh Pellicer just finished shooting a video
that you'll probably notice is a bit... "unconventional."

But that's a GOOD thing.

New, powerful lessons often look a
little weird at first...

And this one is no different!

That's because he's revealing a few Jedi-style
techniques that are going to give you an edge
over all the other guys out there.

I'll explain that a bit more in a second...

Or you can just start watching now:

Illegal Seduction Technique? - this video is not safe for work

Within the first 5 seconds, I guarantee
you'll be thinking "WTF???"

But then...

He'll peel back the wrapping paper and go into some
pretty advanced material.

He's "opened the vaults" on this one...

Lots of "next level" stuff.

One concept he touches on will re-frame the entire
way you interact with women.

It clears up a mystery that (some) men have been
struggling with for thousands of years...

While other men figured it out and kept to themselves
(because it means they basically get ALL the women).

Things will take a HUGE up-turn for you when you start using
this to get women to subconsciously want to approach you.

Bug#4133: Earlier version doesn't exhibit the bug.

1996-08-28 Thread TropiX Support
I backed Samba out to version 1.9.15p4 (which is the 1.1.x stable
package) and this bug went away. Hopefully someone with a lot more
experience than I with network code can track down and squish this, I
assume it happens to other people as well. I'm pretty sure it is was
caused by an attempt to access a non-existant share (was there and then
removed when the files moved to a different machine).

* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Go
Description : General purpose extensions to Golang's database/sql library

sqlx is a library which provides a set of extensions on Go's standard
database/sql library. The sqlx versions of sql.DB, sql.TX, sql.Stmt,
et al. all leave the underlying interfaces untouched, so that their
interfaces are a superset on the standard ones. This makes it relatively
painless to integrate existing codebases using database/sql with sqlx.

Major additional concepts are:

  * Marshal rows into structs (with embedded struct support), maps, and slices
  * Named parameter support including prepared statements
  * Get and Select to go quickly from query to struct/slice

Description : Toolkit for orchestrating distributed systems at any scale

SwarmKit is a toolkit for orchestrating distributed systems at any
scale. It includes primitives for node discovery, raft-based consensus,
task scheduling and more.

Its main benefits are:

  * Distributed: SwarmKit uses the Raft Consensus Algorithm in order to
coordinate and does not rely on a single point of failure to perform
decisions.

  * Secure: Node communication and membership within a Swarm are secure
out of the box. SwarmKit uses mutual TLS for node authentication,
role authorization and transport encryption, automating both
 certificate issuance and rotation.

   * Simple: SwarmKit is operationally simple and minimizes
infrastructure dependencies. It does not need an external database to
operate.Overview Machines running SwarmKit can be grouped together in
order to form a Swarm, coordinating tasks with each other.

Full archive rebuilds are done every so often. The switchover to the gcc-5
toolchain
was an example and everything was rebuilt at least once during that time. My
understanding
is that packages are dropped if they don't build in this case, and no-one steps
up to fix them
within a reasonable (months) period of time.

OK - good point. I wonder if there is any information about how many packages
run unit tests? It would be interesting to see the data.

I get the impression that more upstream packages have built-in tests that
can be run as part of dpkg-buildpackage (e.g Python, Perl, Ruby, Java and
Go) but maybe that's just because I've been working in those environments
recently.
