documentation about Wig & Pen source format (dpkg source format 2.0)
hi, is there any documentation or howto about Wig & Pen source format (dpkg source format 2.0) ? Maybe an update to the NMG could be helpfull ? the bits from dpkg maintainer was too short for me ;) : Wig & Pen source format --- The Wig & Pen ("Format: 2.0") source format is an evolutionary (rather than revolutionary) change to the current source package format. Brendan O'Dea's work on providing _unpack_ support has been integrated into dpkg-source. Support for building these formats will be added as it matures and solidifies. Existing source packages ("Format: 1.0") are supported without modification. The basics of the new format are: * Multiple upstream tarballs are supported: The orig.tar.gz is unpacked as normal, additional upstream tarballs are named orig-XXX.tar.gz and unpacked into the XXX sub-directory of the source. Thus glibc might be unpacked as: glibc-2.3.2.ds1 (from glibc_2.3.2.ds1.orig.tar.gz) glibc-2.3.2.ds1/nptl (from glibc_2.3.2.ds1.orig-nptl.tar.gz) glibc-2.3.2.ds1/posixthreads (from glibc_2.3.2.ds1.orig-posixthreads.tar.gz) * The "Debian Diff" may be replaced by the "Debian Tar": Instead of placing your changes and Debian directory as a patch against the upstream tarball in a diff.gz, you may instead ship the Debian directory as a debian.tar.gz. This is unpacked into the debian sub-directory of the source. Changes to upstream may then be stored as separate patches in the debian/patches directory, and are applied automatically (with the same rules as run-parts) to the upstream source when the package is unpacked. Thus glibc would be unpacked as: glibc-2.3.2.ds1/debian (from glibc_2.3.2.ds1-20.debian.tar.gz) * Bzip2 compression is supported as an alternative to gzip. This can be picked on a file by file basis, you might choose to compress the upstream source with bzip2 and the debian tarball with gzip to get the best results. Further improvements may be made to this format in later 1.13 releases, and as build support is added. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? No need for the commandline, gnome, > KDE, xfce and gnustep wireless applets have their own set of stored > profiles, when they're using the same backend logic anyway... That's right. Currently there are two reasons why wpa_profiles are not stored in the default wpa_configuration files and why there are additional configuration files: * wpa_supplicant uses global files so you cannot define profiles per user, which in my oppinion is a drawback * wpa_supplicant has no options in it's config files for static ip addresses, name servers etc. I would like to be able to configure dns searchlists, non-default routes etc. Upstream author of kwlan will be happy to change kwlan's behavior if you have a better solution for this. cheers, Fathi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Re: Minimal kernel version raised to 2.6.27
Hi, I would like to come back to the distribution upgrade issue since udev package cannot be installed if the kernel doesn't support CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED (like Lenny kernel 2.6.26). Recently, I have updated a machine from Lenny to Squeeze and apt-get dist-upgrade failed as expected. The kernel 2.6.30 didn't finish installation. To fix the issue and continue my dist-upgrade, I used apt-get -f install and finally had my kernel installed. To continue the update, I restarted the machine, and launched again apt-get dist-upgrade. What's going on in Debian Qt world?
Hi, Qt 4.7.0 beta 2 and Qt Creator 2.0.0 have been released upstream. There's some noticeable changes in our Qt packages compared to Qt 4.6.x series: - legacy Qt Assistant (ADP) is removed - new Qt declarative module is introduced - Qt Multimedia and Qt Webkit aren't being built anymore In case your package depends on the deprecated Qt Assistant, it is still being shipped in a separated Qt Assistant compatibility package called qt-assistant-compat. Qt Multimedia is now shipped from Qt Mobility API instead of Qt. The module has been renamed to Qt Mobility MultimediaKit. Qt Mobility delivers a set of APIs for mobile device functionality. Qt WebKit is shipped standalone, separated from Qt. Hopefully, it will make Qt WebKit security support easier. There are also a new component in the family: Qt Messaging Framework (QMF). The Qt Messaging Framework, QMF, consists of a C++ library and daemon server process that can be used to build email clients, and more generally software that interacts with email and mail servers. Finally, I have started to ship a snapshot of a new Phonon backend: Phonon VLC, one backend to rule them all ;) All the packages can be found in Debian Experimental repository, except Qt Simulator, a simulator for Qt applications running on Nokia devices. This package should land soon in Debian archives. I encourage you to try building your Qt applications against these packages and please, report any bugs you encounter. Enjoy.
