  Description : python-git is a Python library used to interact with Git
repositories.

GitPython provides object model access to your git repository. Once you have
created a repository object, you can traverse it to find parent commit(s),
trees, blobs, etc.

GitPython is a port of the grit library in Ruby created by Tom Preston-Werner
and Chris Wanstrath.

The Git website[0] seems to capitalise 'Git', as does the long
description for the git-core package[1], so I've left it capitalised
(though I agree it does seem unnatural).

I agree, and have changed the long description to fall more in line with
§6.2.3 of the Developers Reference.

Removed.

I have uploaded a package for python-git, incorporating these changes to
'debian/control', to mentors.debian.net[2].

I have claimed and converted the RFP at bug #491723. All that has
changed from that RFP is the Version number.

is stored in a MySQL database. Laconica was created as a direct
response of a need to create an open source, distributed alternative to
Twitter. Laconica implements the OpenMicroBlogging standard. It was
originally used by the identi.ca microblogging service.

Bug#493683: ITP: libmarkdown-php -- a port to PHP of the Markdown program

2008-08-03 Thread Daniel Watkins
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Daniel Watkins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: libmarkdown-php
  Version : 1.0.1m
  Upstream Author : Michel Fortin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: PHP
  Description : a port to PHP of the Markdown program

“Markdown” is two things: a plain text markup syntax, and a software
tool that converts the plain text markup to HTML for publishing on the
web.

The Markdown syntax allows you to write text naturally and format it
without using HTML tags. More importantly: in Markdown format, your text
stays enjoyable to read for a human being, and this is true enough that
it makes a Markdown document publishable as-is, as plain text. If you
are using text-formatted email, you already know some part of the
syntax.

PHP Markdown can work as a plug-in for WordPress and bBlog, as a
modifier for the Smarty templating engine, or as a remplacement for
textile formatting in any software that support textile.

  * Several XML processing approaches and supported styles (process
indefinitely, processUntil an event, processTime for a number of seconds),
waiting on events or map them, etc.
  * Persistent connections (AJAX Web client anyone?)

OAuth is a simple way to publish and interact with protected data. It allows
the User to grant access to their private resources on one site (the Service
Provider), to another site (the Consumer, not to be confused with the User).
While OpenID is all about using a single identity to sign into many sites, OAuth
is about giving access to your stuff without sharing your identity at all (or
its secret parts).

  Upstream Author : Ryan Paul <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : https://launchpad.net/gwibber

  Description : open source microblogging client for GNOME

Gwibber is a status management client application. It can transmit status
message updates to Twitter, Jaiku, Identi.ca, Facebook, and Digg simultaneously,
allowing for the easy management of several different microblogging sites. It
also displays updates from each of those sites, as would be seen from their web
interface.

The GTK interface displays updates, with colour coding according to source
available, with a text box to use for posts. It allows intelligent replying so
replies directed towards someone on a particular site will only be posted to
that site.

Currently a version of python-validate is shipped with configobj. I'd like to
package it separately as per policy.

* Package name: python-validate
  Version : 0.3.2
  Upstream Author : Michael Foord <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/validate.html

  Description : Python library to check specification conformance

Validation is used to check that supplied values conform to a specification.
Values can be supplied as strings, which allows validation to be added as a
transparent layer to access data stored as strings. The validation checks that
the data is correct and converts it to the expected type.

Bug#522934: ITP: python-whoosh -- pure-Python full text indexing, search, and spell checking library

2009-04-07 Thread Daniel Watkins

Whoosh is a fast, pure-Python indexing and search library. Programmers
can use it to easily add search functionality to their applications and
websites. As Whoosh is pure Python, you don't have to compile or
install a binary support library and/or make Python work with a JVM, yet
indexing and searching is still very fast. Whoosh is designed to be
modular, so every part can be extended or replaced to meet your needs
exactly.
