This should be avoided for future Debian events. My position is clear: I strongly support in-person meetings and thus I will do my best enabling active contributors to attend. If financial limitations are a barrier for active contributors, we should find ways to help. The amount of financial support needed can vary greatly depending on the region where the in-person meeting is happening. Therefore, please consider this as a rule of thumb, not a fixed (upper or lower) limit. More importantly, organizers should strive for realistic cost calculations in advance and communicate any changes as soon as possible. Finally, securing sponsors can be very helpful, and the probability of finding them is typically higher in regions with higher overall costs. Kind regards Andreas. -- https://fam-tille.de

Bug#1072515: general: Repeating cracking sound in headphones when nothing is playing.
Dear Christian, Can you please share the outputs "lspci -vvv" and "dmidecode" commands (please run them as the root user) as text files? This will allow anybody interested to see your hardware details, so pinpointing your computer's details plus the hardware used for sound will be much easier. Cheers, H. I'm running an up-to-date Debian 12 64Bit (bookworm) and I don't have Jack installed. After some messing with duckduckgo the problem seems to be, that the system puts the audio-chip to sleep, but not the headphone-amplifier. I hope someone from Debian can fix it.
