Who in their right mind would ever try to use those aweful > slow implementations? There are often usecases where speed is critical and usecases where speed is not that important. E.g. one of the versions of the regex library Adam memtioned as example is being used by rspamd. On a busy mailserver the performance of the regex library might be critical, for filtering your personal emails an awful slow implementation might still be fast enough that you don't care. In areas like multimedia it is common that you end up having gazillions of libraries linked and loaded you might never use. E.g. a program that uses FFmpeg for mp3 decoding is also indirectly linked with several libraries for video encoding. If the whole library is compiled with some -msse or -march, then starting the program might fail due to unsupported instructions the compiler generated in the init function of a library you wouldn't have used. > Bastian cu Adrian
Bug#1008970: ITP: pyimagetool -- Image Tool for multidimensional analysis
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Neil Williams X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-devel@lists.debian.org, codeh...@debian.org * Package name: pyimagetool Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : Kyle Gordon * URL : https://github.com/kgord831/PyImageTool * License : GPL3 Programming Lang: Python Description : Image Tool for multidimensional analysis Python Image Tool can be used to visualise analysis of data in microscopy (STM, SSM, optics), ARPES, XRD, or other multidimensional datasets on regularly gridded coordinates. . This package installs the module for Python 3 and an example helper script to create a writeable data cache. This package will be maintained within the Debian Science Team. The module provides the support to plot the data using Qt but each plot requires a custom script, based on the packaged helper, to load the data and supporting parameters. No desktop file is provided.
Bug#1009001: ITP: golang-github-99designs-httpsignatures-go -- Go library for creating and handling http-signatures
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Sebastian Crane * Package name: golang-github-99designs-httpsignatures-go Version : 0.0~git20170731.88528bf-1 Upstream Author : Adam Scarr * URL : https://github.com/99designs/httpsignatures-go * License : Expat Programming Lang: Go Description : Go library for creating and handling http-signatures This library allows Go programs to create and verify cryptographic signatures that follow the HTTP Message Signatures specification (currently an IETF draft). This is a required dependency of Woodpecker CI (see ITP #1008934). I intend to maintain this package as a member of the Debian Go Packaging Team.

And I agree with all other points (but unfortunately don't have time to write a dak patch). Luckily ftp-masters in the mean time did accept the faq upload. Thanks! Bye, Joost

Many thanks Now I can look into activating the new Portuguese translation on the website (which is one major point in this upload, and indeed the reason, why this had to go through NEW).
