Bug#877388: RFA: s-nail -- feature-rich BSD mail(1)

2017-10-01 Thread Hilko Bengen
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

s-nail, previously known as heirloom-mailx and nail, is the classic
/bin/mail program, with many modern features added. (Unfortunately it is
not suitable as a "mailx" because incompatible differences in command
line options with bsd-mailx, see #846062.)

If I remember correctly, it was the first package I adopted after
joining Debian as a DD in 2003. After about 14 years and two project
forks/renames, I would like to see someone else take over package
maintenance.

I feel that s-nail is suitable package for people with little packaging
experience to adopt. The current upstream author, Steffen Nurpmeso is
quite active and very responsive.

Cheers,
-Hilko

I just discovered a better way. I can use babel (which is on its way to
main, currently in NEW) instead of rollup and node-d3-color can go to main.

rollup has transpile+bundling features. In this case, we can replace the
transpile feature with babel. gitlab uses webpack anyway for bundling
(hence we don't need rollup for bundling in this case).

* License : WTFPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Convert Gregorian dates to Debian Regnal dates

Displays the Debian Regnal date of a given date, where the years are
named after the current stable release.

This is, admittely, a program or very minor importance, but also one
that should take very little effort to develop and maintain.
AFAIK there are many alternative programs to show dates the command
line, but none of them use the *proper* calendar like this one does.

Considering the topic, I believe that all of the potential users will
appreciate having a package, even if running the program from source is
easy.

I've already checked that, by using data from distro-info-data, it will
give the right answers even on the .0 release of a new stable, with no
additional effort from myself nor the project.

I plan to maintain this package in collab-maint, with the aim to move it
to PAPT as soon as the svn -> git migration is done.

I will need a sponsor for the first upload(s), but I'm a DM and can
receive upload permission for the (sporadical) updates.

I confirm that I remember times when I had the same _source.chanegs
alongside the _.changes but for some reason the source changes are
missing now when I call pbuilder (--cowbuilder) from git-buildpackage.
Do I need to add some specific option that was not needed before?

Re: ftp master uploads disappearing?

2017-10-01 Thread Attila Szalay
For me, the uploaded package was disappeared when I accidentally used a
wrong gpg kez to sign it. It was also mine, just an old, 1024 bit long one.
In that case I received nothing back about the upload.

And about the source-only upload I found another page where there are some
cases, when the source-only upload is not working/feasible. For example
upload containing new binaries cannot be source-only uploaded. And my lib
packages change APi very frequently.

+1. I guess this is a good point for the MBF Helmut wants to do.

shlib dependencies are:
* lsattr, chattr, badblocks:
  • e2fslibs
  • libcomerr2
  • libblkid1
  • libuuid1
* filefrag
  • libblkid1
  • libuuid1

Of these, libblkid1 and libuuid1 are transitively essential; libcomerr2
(87.0 kB inst) is very popular: no rdeps above priority:standard but you'll
have a hard time finding an useful system without one of those rdeps;
this leaves e2fslibs (466 kB inst) whose other users are mc and a handful
of less-used packages.

Current e2fsprogs is 1340 kB inst + libss2 (99.3 kB inst).

On the other hand, looking at unstable-capable physical machines I own or
admin, despite none of them using ext4 for actual system or data, every
single one has ext4 for u-boot, /boot or often sees SD cards from some SoC,
thus I personally would benefit only on containers.

I wonder why these tools weren't put into util-linux/etc in the first
